Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 15m x 15m x 15m room within Site-19 and held in the center of said room by a steel support 7.3m in length. SCP-XXXX is to be in constant contact with an electrical cable carrying 120 volts, connected directly to the power grid of Site-19. The room containing SCP-XXXX is to be monitored at all times with a grid of motion sensing cameras which notify research team-XXXX (discussed below) should any change appear in SCP-XXXX’s projection. Furthermore, SCP-XXXX’s projection is to be visually inspected daily by a researcher on team-XXXX familiar with the layout of the projection and with a basic understanding of 4 dimensional topology, geometry and with a cognitohazard resistance score of 13 or higher. Ladders are to be present in the room containing SCP-XXXX in order to assist with this inspection.

Research team-XXXX is to be composed of at least one astrophysicist, cosmologist, and mathematician with specialization in higher dimensional mechanics. These scientists will be given the rank of senior researchers on SCP-XXXX, and should be assigned junior researchers as requested.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be an irregular triangular pyramid 10cm in height made of an unknown substance. SCP-XXXX appears to have an inertial mass of approximately 18 metric tons, However, it’s acceleration due to the earth's gravity is only 0.0005 m/s, suggesting a gravitational mass closer to 1kg. The theorized explanation for this discrepancy is that the majority of SCP-XXXX’s mass exists in higher dimensional space. The shape of SCP-XXXX further corroborates this theory, as the shape is one possible projection of a 5-cell (the four dimensional equivalent of a tetrahedron) into 3 dimensional space.

When electromagnetic energy is applied to SCP-XXXX (in the form of radiation, electrical fields, or direct electric current) it projects a field of blue light in the shape of a rhombic dodecahedron with a width of approximately 12m. This field can be entered by personnel safely and without disrupting it.

The projection created by SCP-XXXX contains thousands of small segments of light organized into planes spanning the entire width of the projection. Most (though not all) of these planes are parallel. Based on the theorized nature of SCP-XXXX itself and the planar organization of the points of light, it is believed that the projection also exists in 4 or more dimensions and thus the portion visible is only a tiny fraction of the entire projection.

Additional Description:
SCP-XXXX is believed to be a device which projects a 4 dimensional, holographic map of local space time. This theory is supported by spectral analysis of the points of light within the projection (which closely resemble those of galaxies) and the planar organization of these points, which is consistent with the presence of many 3 dimensional universes being represented concurrently (the intersection of these projected universes with our 3 dimensional existence would be in the shape of planes). The recognition of the spectral signatures of several known galaxies has allowed Research team-XXXX to pinpoint the location of the milky way on projection: 2.53m south, 3.48m east, 1.97m down, and 17cm in a direction not describable in modern English.

There are 4 objects that appear 3 dimensional in SCP-XXXX’s projection (these objects would either need to be perfectly aligned with our space by an occurrence of random chance, or would need to exist in 4 dimensions on the complete map):

SCP-XXXX-GOLD: This object appears as a rhombic dodecahedron consistent with the vertex first projection of a 4 dimensional shape known as an octaplex. It is approximately 20cm in width and is represented on the map by a transparent gold color slightly brighter than the blue background. SCP-XXXX-GOLD is located in the lower northwest quadrant of the map.

SCP-XXXX-RAINBOW: This object appears as an irregularly shaped region of the map comprised of constantly shifting colors. It intersects with two different “universes” (plane formations), and both intersected areas contain no galaxies. SCP-XXXX-RAINBOW also emits a strong cognitohazardous effect, namely, when viewed by a sapient being, it evokes an extremely strong fear response, despite the subject having never encountered SCP-XXXX-RAINBOW (or anything resembling it) before. SCP-XXXX-RAINBOW is located in the lower southwest quadrant of the map.

Event Log XXXX-1 01/26/2020

At some point between 18:14 and 18:56 EST on January 26, 2020, the map projected by SCP-XXXX changed dramatically (because this event took place before the enstatement of the current containment procedures, the exact time of occurrence is unknown). A large, irregularly shaped region in the upper south east quadrant of the map began absorbing all electromagnetic radiation that entered it, and emitting none of its own. This region has been dubbed SCP-XXXX-BLACK, and persists for approximately 4 seconds after SCP-XXXX is disconnected from a power supply, before fading away.

On February 14, 2020, undercover Foundation operatives within the astronomy departments at multiple universities were made aware of an anomaly detected by the POLARBEAR telescope located in the Atacama desert. A region of space approximately 46 million light years across gained similar properties to SCP-XXXX-BLACK, i.e. absorbing all radiation, including the cosmic microwave background, and emitting none of its own. Classification of this region as a separate SCP is pending. Based on timestamps from the POLARBEAR data, the anomaly first appeared between 17:37 and 18:03 EST on January 26, 2020. All civilians that were exposed to data regarding the anomaly were administered class B amnestics. Proposal to implant foundation operatives into all studies of cosmic background radiation worldwide has been approved for implementation.

At least 2 galaxies existed previously in the space now occupied by this anomaly; their fate is currently unknown.
