Item #: 4796
Object Classification: Keter
Containment Procedures: All civilians and non-Foundation personnel are to be administered a Class-A amnestic and sent to the nearest population center upon entering Zone-4796, located in [Redacted]. MTF Unit Omega-13 “Power Armor” is to be stationed permanently at Site-4796, equipped with Model-13 Grenade/Rocket Launchers, and Mk-4 Tactical Power Suits, courtesy of Senior Researcher Alexander. In the case multiple instances of SCP-4796-1 reach land, the Site-4796 tactical nuke is to be detonated, and a backup squad of MTF Omega-13 is to clear the site’s remnants. Meanwhile, agents are to be deployed in all nearby population centers and administer a Class-A amnestic to anyone who saw the blast. In the case that another SCP-4796-1 instance surfaces before Site-4796 has been repaired, all nearby available MTF units are to be equipped with SCRAMBLE-4796 headgear and deployed with heavy weaponry to Zone-4796. A permanent quarantine is to be set around SCP-4796, and nothing metal is to enter SCP-4796. Every week, 3 D-class personnel are to be deployed into SCP-4796 in cheap metal speedboats. (see Incident Report 4796-A-1)
Description: SCP-4796 is commonly known as the [Redacted] Triangle and is considered extremely dangerous to any waterborne objects that enter SCP-4796. Below the surface are 3 extremely massive humanoid creatures (SCP-4796-1) that are hostile to any metal objects on the surface or below the surface of SCP-4796. SCP-4796-1 instances will attack any metal object in SCP-4796, and the parts will be attracted to their body once destroyed.
A bond has been observed between SCP-4796-1 and SCP-4796, but when the total mass of metal attached to the body of SCP-4796-1 is over [Redacted] tons, that particular instance will lose the bond to SCP-4796 and become extremely hostile towards humans. They will then head towards the nearest coast and attempt to kill as many human subjects as possible. Upon reducing the mass of the scrap on the instance’s body to [Redacted] tons, the bond to SCP-4796 will reform, and the instance will return to SCP-4796.
However, the most defining feature of SCP-4796-1 is the mass of runes inscribed across its main body. Upon viewing/reading one or more of these runes, severe blood clots will appear across the body of the viewer approximately one minute after viewing. After two minutes, the subject will become overly light headed and decide they need a nap. When they inevitably fall asleep, blood will begin to spew from multiple pores and will invariably kill the subject. To counteract these effects, Dr. Alexander and Dr. Tao engineered a modded version of the SCRAMBLE headgear originally meant for use against SCP-096, designated SCRAMBLE-4796. Unlike SCP-096’s face, the runes require recognition to trigger their effects.
The 05 council has deemed that an underwater base near SCP-4796 would be too costly and dangerous to operate, so Site-4796 has been set up on the coast nearest to SCP-4796. Site-4796 is easily reassembled and has numerous blast shelters in many different places. It is also used for research on experimental weapons, and houses only about 60 researchers and 100 D-class with room for 30 security guards and MTF Omega-13.
Incident Report 4796-1: On the date of [Redacted], exactly 2 weeks after the establishment of a quarantine around SCP-4796, all 3 SCP-4796-1 instances surfaced. Instead of the normal scrap covering their bodies, there was a 1 foot thick shell of pure iron covering almost their entire body. According to post incident analysis, the iron was collected from a natural undersea deposit. MTF Omega-13 was able to successfully force back one instance of SCP-4796-1 before the onsite tactical nuke was detonated, resulting in the deaths of 89 D-class personnel, 12 security officers, and 20 researchers. This is the only time the nuclear bomb was detonated. Post-explosion, Site-4796 was rebuilt in 2 weeks, and in that time a total of 6 of the remaining D-class were sent into SCP-4796. After those 2 weeks, the SCP-4796-1 instances did not surface again.
Addendum 4796-A
Research is currently ongoing about containing SCP-4976-1 in a more sensible manner, such as in an extremely large cell. Prototype chambers have been devised to store SCP-4976-1 and tests will be carried out to see if there are any viable termination methods. The first containment/termination test is to be carried out on [Redacted].
Incident Report 4796-2: On the date of [Redacted], the first containment/termination test was carried out. A large cage made of [Data Expunged] was dropped over a surfacing SCP-4796-1 instance (SCP-4796-1-A) by 3 Black Hawk helicopters. The cage had an extending floor that would make a bottom for the cage once activated. The drop went successfully, and the floor was extended without issue. However, when the cage was being inserted into a large containment chamber at Site-4796, an unidentifiable black ooze started spraying out of the runes in large quantities, melting through everything around it. All 3 helicopters were instantly destroyed, and the chamber disintegrated within seconds. SCP-4796-1-A rampaged around the area before being sent back to SCP-4796 by MTF Omega 13. Samples of the fluid were similar to SCP-106's fluid, and further research is being carried out for using SCP-4796 as a termination method for SCP-106. Denied by order of all 13 of the 05 Council.
