Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are currently contained at site-45 in individual containment lockers. Removal and testing of either requires assistance by Class 3 personnel or higher.
When transporting SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are to be kept in their respective containment lockers. Only during testing are SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 allowed to come into contact with one another. During testing, only class D personnel are to handle SCP-XXXX.
During testing, medical staff is required to be present within the testing chamber along with the subject in order to ensure continued testing.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective of SCP-XXXX-1 and
SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1 (Henceforth "the board") is a 45 x 45 x 2cm slab of polished onyx with an 8 x 8 square tile pattern on one side, with each square alternating between white and black onyx. SCP-XXXX-2 (Henceforth "the pieces") are the collective set of pieces that go with the board. The pieces, like the board, are made entirely of onyx and range in height of 6cm (pawns) to 8cm(king) all with a base diameter of 1.57cm. All like pieces (all pawns, all knights, etc.) have identical weight without any error (furthest tested to the hundredth-███████ decimal)
On its own, the board does not produce any anomalous effects. Only when the pieces are placed atop the board will an anomalous effect occur. Upon the placement of the pieces, they will move to their respective starting positions for a standard chess game. Once the pieces have been set, the e2 pawn will advance to the e4 square of the board. When a response is made by any individual playing the black pieces, a response is likewise made by the white pieces. It has been observed that when the white pieces are moved, they are slid in a fashion that there is no gap between the base of the pieces and the board. Intervals of time between responses by the white pieces range from 0.12 seconds to 12 minutes 47 seconds.
Whenever an individual has a piece captured while playing on SCP-XXXX, they will immediately have part of their body dismembered, with the body part relating to the value of the piece captured. The interval of time between the capture of the piece and the dismemberment has been recorded at a range from 0.023 milliseconds to 0.54 milliseconds.
Addendum:
- No subject has succeeded in defeating or drawing against SCP-XXXX at this time and additional testing will be needed to observe if there will be any different anomalous effects.
- Should the subject attempt to cheat in any way, the will immediately be decapitated. Forms of cheating include: making an illegal move without acknowledging the move as a mistake within 2 minutes, attempting to move one of the white pieces of SCP-XXXX-2, disrupting the board in a way that causes the pieces to scatter or shift positions, and using external sources for reference on moves (eg. a chess computer engine, or asking for help.)
- After 30 minutes of move time by a subject, if the game has not concluded the subject will be decapitated. SCP-XXXX has not exceeded 30 minutes move time, with its longest total move time for a single game being 17 minutes and 29.034 seconds.
