Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in a standard anomalous items containment locker in Site-73. A minimum security clearance of Level 2 is required to access SCP-XXXX and research may only be performed with the express permission from the site director.
Due to the events of Incident-XXXX-n researchers may only be allowed access to a maximum of fifteen (15) SCP-XXXX instances.
Currently, the Foundation only has twenty-one (21) of the thirty (30) instances in containment. It is imperative that the remaining nine instances are recovered as soon as possible. Persons in the possession of an instance of SCP-XXXX are to be detained for questioning and administered amnestics. The last individual known to be in possession of the missing SCP-XXXX instances is PoI-XXXX-001, whose whereabouts are currently unknown. For more information on PoI-XXXX-001 please refer to Interview Log-XXXX-001.
Description: SCP-XXXX are a collection of thirty (30) silver denarii.1 Carbon dating indicates that they originate during the late Roman Empire. Due to instances of SCP-XXXX-2 never requesting more than thirty coins it is believed that there are no more than thirty instances in existence.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest when the coins are used as a form of currency in exchange for objects, favors, or other services. Those giving a subject an instance of SCP-XXXX, now identified as SCP-XXXX-1, may request something of the receiver or subject, now identified as SCP-XXXX-2. A SCP-XXXX-2 instance will accept the coins and perform the requested service or proffer the object if they perceive that the value of the coins is equal in value to the service or object. If the instance of SCP-XXXX-2 does not perceive the value of the coins to be substantial enough they may either request SCP-XXXX-1 for a "proper" amount of SCP-XXXX or outright deny the "sale" of the requested object or service until a more substantial amount of SCP-XXXX is offered.
SCP-XXXX also has a mild cognitive effect of causing subjects who have witnessed a transaction involving SCP-XXXX to resist interfering with the results of said transaction. This effect does not seem to effect remote viewers using live video. For more information please see Recovery Log-XXXX.
Addendum-1: SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 have a skewed perception of the value of SCP-XXXX. Subjects will buy and perform services that they would not be willing to buy or perform when using non-anomalous currency, such as giving up a cherished heirloom.
Discovery and Loss Log:
The following is a note on the discoveries of each SCP-XXXX instance as well as instances that have been lost while in Foundation custody.
Note on Initial Discovery: Foundation was responding to several reports of "faulty" transactions. It is currently unknown how individuals came to know about the deviations considering SCP-XXXX's secondary anomalous property.
