Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be left in the care of ███ ███ ██████. Access to SCP-XXXX is to be strictly limited to individuals known to SCP-XXXX and must maintain an energetic and entertaining demeanor. Measures are to be taken to ensure the comfort and contentment of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is currently successfully contained but the anomalous properties are not yet well known and, due to its interdimensional properties and sentience, further containment procedure attempts have been deemed excessively dangerous and likely to result in failure at this time.

Addendum 11/7/2012: Agent T and Agent F have been instated and assigned to the containment of SCP-XXXX

Description: SCP-XXXX is a boxy organism of moderate size, approximately 30cm x 20cm x 8cm, with oversized hands, small eyes, and a jointed mouth. Upon interactions with researchers, SCP-XXXX has displayed a mental capacity similar to that of a 7-year-old human child with an innocent demeanor and an affinity towards music and friendship.

When provoked via threat or harassment, offenders (known herein as SCP-XXXX-1) evanesce. It is unknown at this time the fate of SCP-XXXX-1, however, speculation suggests they become imprisoned in an alternate realm or dimension accessed only via dream-state. No known recovery methods exist.

Discovery: Reports of a ‘haunted box’ reached Foundation personnel at 0100 on 10/28/2012. Upon arrival of Foundation agents, the target in question had been apprehended and tended to by a civilian who has since been instated as an agent of the Foundation (herein referred to as Agent H). SCP-XXXX appeared to have formed a preliminary bond with Agent H. Upon attempted extraction, Retrieval Team ████████ evanesced and has not been heard from since.

Addendum 4/30/2013: Missing Persons databases have been consulted and, at minimum, eighteen (18) cases dating from January 2005 to the date of discovery appear to contain circumstances congruent with the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX. A log has been opened of instances of SCP-XXXX-1 for the purpose of maintaining ongoing case files (See chart 1).

Interview #1

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Interviewer: Agent H

[Begin Log]

Agent H: I’m here at the ███ ███ ██████ facility in [REDACTED], California with SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX: Hi, I’m Crunchie.

Agent H: Hey Crunchie. Do you know who I am?

SCP-XXXX: [Giggle] Duh. You’re my friend.

Agent H: Yeah, we’re friends. How long have we been friends?

SCP-XXXX: A long time. Why are you asking such weird questions?

Agent H: So other people know more about you.

SCP-XXXX: But other people don’t like me very much. They’re scary and they try to take me away.

Agent H: Do you know why they do that?

SCP-XXXX: Because sometimes people go away around me.

Agent H: Do you know where those people go?

SCP-XXXX: No. They try hurting me or my friends and I just want them to go away. And then they’re gone.

Agent H: Does that hurt the people that go away?

SCP-XXXX: I dunno. This makes me sad, can we talk about something else?

Agent H: Sure. What’s your favorite thing to do?

SCP-XXXX: Go see music and play with my friends and dress up like it’s Halloween all day, every day!

Agent H: Is Halloween your favorite holiday?

SCP-XXXX: Oh yes! You get to dress up and pretend and people like me more on Halloween.

Agent H: Thanks, Crunchie. That's all we'll do for today.

Interview #2

Interviewed: John Fersi

Interviewer: Researcher Combs

[Begin Log]

Researcher Combs: Today’s date is the nineteenth day of April in the year 2013 at 0900. I present today with a witness regarding suspected victim XXXX-A-25 of SCP-XXXX, known as Maxwell Bater, aged eighteen years old. Suspected disappearance of victim XXXX-A-25 occurred on the fifteenth day of March in the year 2013 at [REDACTED] in the city of {REDACTED], California. Please state your name and age for the record.

Fersi: My name is John P. Fersi. I’m seventeen.

Researcher Combs: What is your relation to Mr. Bater?

Fersi: We were friends since middle school. We met at a concert.

Researcher Combs: Were you witness to Mr. Bater’s disappearance?

Fersi: [Nod]

Researcher Combs: Please answer verbally for the record.

Fersi: Yes

Researcher Combs: And what were the circumstances regarding the disappearance?

Fersi: I told the police. I don’t know what happened. We were at this concert and he found -

Researcher Combs: To clarify, ‘he’ being Mr. Bater?

Fersi: Yeah. Max found this puppet thing before the show. It was on one of the band’s cases. He thought it was funny so he tried to take it. But the thing like yelled, really screamed, and then Max was just gone.

Researcher Combs: What happened to the object he was attempting to steal?

Fersi: I don’t know. I didn’t stick around long enough to find out.

Researcher Combs: Have you had any contact with Mr. Bater since the occurrence?

Fersi: [Shakes head]

Researcher Combs: Please answer verbally for the record.

Fersi: No…but I did have a dream.

Researcher Combs: Can you elaborate?

Fersi: I don’t know, man. It’s kind of weird. Like I was just doing my thing, in the dream I mean, and then Max runs up out of nowhere and he starts going on about how he’s been here forever and he was talking about the show and after the thing freaked out everything just went hazy and he can’t make it stop. But he said now I can help him. But I woke up and everything else seemed normal.

Researcher Combs: And when did this dream occur?

Fersi: Maybe a week or so ago.

Researcher Combs: Have you had any dreams similar to that one before or since?

Fersi: No, I haven’t had any dreams at all.

Interview #3

Interviewed: Hannah Whitman

Interviewer: Researcher Combs

[Begin Log]

Researcher Combs: Today’s date is the second day of June in the year 2017 at 1330. I present today with a relation of suspected victim XXXX-A-30 of SCP-XXXX. Please state your name and age for the record.

Whitman: Hannah Marie Whitman. Twenty-five years old.

Researcher Combs: And what was your relation to the victim?

Whitman: He was my husband.

Researcher Combs: What was your husband’s name and age?

Whitman: His name is Jason Harry Whitman. He’s twenty-four years old.

Researcher Combs: And when was Mr. Whitman reported missing?

Whitman: He went missing on September 13th, 2016.

Researcher Combs: What were the circumstances of the last time you heard from Mr. Whitman?

Whitman: He left the house just after dark. He was going to see ███████ in concert at the [REDACTED] in [REDACTED], California. He had called me when he got to the venue and he was mad about a local band that was opening for ███████.

Researcher Combs: Do you recall the name of the local band?

Whitman: Yeah, ███ ███ ██████

Researcher Combs: Did you have any further contact with Mr. Whitman following that phone call?
Whitman: No, he never called after the show and wasn’t answering his cell phone. I got worried and called his friend who said that he had drank a little too much and he went outside to confront [REDACTED] and he never came back. He assumed he had gotten a ride home.

Researcher Combs: Have you experienced any unusual occurrences or interactions since his disappearance?

Whitman: Well…I’ve had a few weird dreams.

Researcher Combs: What are the circumstances of these dreams?

Whitman: Well…they’re always different. The dreams aren’t really…I don’t remember much from the dreams; they’re always different, pretty normal. But I dream of Jason…or he’s there, in the dream. The first time he was just happy to see me. He seemed scared and he was asking for help. He wanted out. But then I woke up. Every time I see him he seems more frantic. [Sobbing] Last night…he came to me last night. I was dreaming of my childhood home and it was Christmas but I was my mother and I was watching me and my brother opening presents. But then Jason walked through the front door, not like through the open door, he just walked right through the wood, like a ghost. His hair was messed up and his eyes looked blank but they were scared. He ran to me and grabbed me…[Unintelligible]… I didn’t understand who he was at first and I wanted him to leave so he wouldn’t scare the children. He didn’t seem to even see them. I panicked…[Unintelligible]… But then I woke up and I knew it was him and…[Sobbing] it doesn’t make any sense.
