Item#: SCP-5056
Object Class: Euclid Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5056 is to be kept in a room 15 m x 15 m x 10 m with an airtight seal. This room will be kept in Site-██ far from any other SCP. There will be no cameras, lights, doors, or any other way to view SCP-5056 in the cell. The only entrance will be a highly secure hatch on the roof of the containment cell that requires 2 level 5 key-cards 10 feet apart that are turned at the same time in order for the hatch to open. No Foundation Personnel, D-Class Personnel, not MTF Personnel are allowed within 50 feet of SCP-5056’s cell without apathetic injection first. Anyone who speaks of SCP-5056 in an open conversation will be immediately terminated, along with anyone else involved in the conversation. Any MTF Personnel tasked with dispatching SCP-5056 must be given a powerful apathetic injection beforehand to ensure the negation of further incidents.
Description:
SCP-5056 is a 2.37 m tall creature with a thin, lanky body appearing to be made of charred wood. It’s insides are entirely fire which appears in various places on the outside of the body. There is currently no known method of how to extinguish SCP-5056’s flame.
SCP-5056 will naturally stand in a completely straight position, looking very similar to a tree. SCP-5056 will attack anyone who feels fear that is caused directly by SCP-5056. This includes fear by seeing it, hearing about it, listening to it, even the fear of not knowing what it is will be enough to send it into its malicious state.
When SCP-5056 senses someone’s fear of the creature, that person becomes designated SCP-5056-1. SCP-5056 has been claimed to begin “laughing” from within its cell once SCP-5056-1 has been established. The established target will also hear this laughing in their mind. Afterwards, SCP-5004 will sprint towards the target at registered speeds up to [DATA EXPUNGED], murdering them in seconds by [DATA EXPUNGED], incinerating all the target’s internal organs at which point it will begin to roam for a short time, attempting to scare any bystanders to find a new victim. If the target is given an apathetic injection before SCP-5056 starts its pursuit, then they will no longer be registered as the target unless they feel fear after the injection wears off.

[████████ ████████ Time, Research Area ██]
Dr. ██████: Colonel, tell me what happened with SCP-5056.
Col. ███████: I was with my men heading towards [REDACTED] when Lieutenant [REDACTED] starts talking about SCP-5056. I don’t know how he wasn’t already dead, I guess he wasn’t scared of the thing, but my men were getting nervous. I heard something laughing, it wasn’t a man, wasn’t even much of a laugh. More like raspy hissing, but I could tell what it was doing. I ran into the trees and towards the river that I knew was nearby. I drove my head under the water and didn’t let myself get a breath, drowned myself, essentially. I don’t know what I was thinking, but it worked, that thing didn’t get me. I took my head out, and while I was gasping for air, I saw it standing there, surrounded by ash and my men’s uniforms, and then I heard laughing. That’s all I remember before I passed out.
Dr. ██████: Thank you Col., you’ve done the Foundation a great service today. You are dismissed.
(Heavy footsteps are heard as a door opens and closes behind them)
Dr. ██████: Possibility of temporarily overcoming 5004’s effect by replacing the fear of it with the fear of something else, or numbing the mind via stress. Request to bring this to the O5 Council.Col. ███████ was later found in his room, hanging from the ceiling. Clenched in his first were 5 dog tags covered in ash, each identified as belonging to the men killed in the conversation above.
