As described by former staff of Hanna Barbera working on the set of the popular show in the 1970's, italic text The Banana Splits Show, early in the filming of Season 2, staff noticed that the actors that worked in the costumes designed by Sid and Marty Krofft were refusing to take off the suits and would not respond to them being addressed by any other name than that of their character. They would also not leave the studio for weeks. Their diet (as noted by family and friends) drastically shifted to only substances containing bananas, or banana splits. All of these things were odd, but their ability to speak was gone. This all happened before their complete mental snap, killing several staff members on site. The victims were not chosen out of any past actions taken. The studio was promptly evacuated after this event, leaving the deranged actors.The final step after they gorged on the victims' bodies, and and other people that dared to enter the studio, for years was to transform fully into their characters. After extensive police investigation of why there was so many missing people in the area, the SCP was called in to contain the amount of damage these organisms made.
