ITEM#: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The puzzle box containing SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a locked safe at all times unless testing is to be conducted. All requests to remove SCP-XXXX must be approved by a Level 2 or higher personnel.
The code for the safe housing SCP-XXXX should be changed once every three months to prevent containment breaches.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a checkerboard patterned puzzle, at first appearing non-anomalous in nature. The box advertises "Fun for the whole family!" New 1,000 Piece Puzzle.' But there is no brand or manufacturing identification present on the box or anywhere else, and it is currently unknown who is responsible for the creation of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX is an ever-expanding puzzle, the pieces mutating to accommodate it's seemingly infinite nature. All humanoid subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX have a strong compulsion to finish the puzzle, and if not removed from its vicinity will continue to build it until their body effectively shuts down. Aside from that, it does not affect test subjects in any way. Once broken up returns to being only 1,000 pieces, which allows it to be stored in the box once again.

SCP-XXXX was recovered from a suburban home in Belmar, New Jersey on January 7, 1973, after a family had been reported missing. Agents who recovered the SCP found the missing family dead in their living room, all furniture pushed to the side and a massive checkerboard puzzle spread out across the floor. It was concluded that the family had died of dehydration after one of the children received the puzzle as a Christmas gift.
