Entry correct as of:
Special Containment Procedures: All electronic devices with cameras and connections to the Internet are to be installed with the HIDDEN EYE AI protocol to detect instances of SCP-XXXX. Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be detained in a standard Humanoid Containment Cell lined with mirrors on all walls on Site-41. Instances are to be allowed one hour per day of social interaction with one another in a secure facility in Site-41 in order to slow progression to Stage 7 of SCP-XXXX. Instances of SCP-XXXX may be terminated upon request and their remains incinerated.
All instances of SCP-XXXX are required to keep a daily audio diary and are interviewed by Foundation personnel on a weekly basis. Instances must, at all times, be referred to by their original names prior to containment during interviews. Interviews are restricted to personnel of clearance 4/XXXX or higher.
All officials assigned to SCP-XXXX are to take Class-X mnestics daily. Report to your RAISA officer immediately if you have missed a dose.
Research into methods of halting or curing SCP-XXXX is ongoing; applications for testing are to be sent to Dr. Gabriel Burns.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an antimemetic phenomenon by which affected individuals become impossible to remember, and information about them becomes self-censoring. SCP-XXXX occurs spontaneously in humans, with no known causal relationship between actions and SCP-XXXX, or statistically significant pattern in those affected. SCP-XXXX works on a cellular level, wherein a singular cell is the start point of the process. This cell slowly 'infects' adjacent cells until the entire body is encompassed and the subject becomes entirely self-censoring. This process takes an average of two years and encompasses seven stages. These stages and their effects are described in the table below.
| Stage 1 | SCP-XXXX begins with a cell at the subject's mass spontaneously becoming affected. |
|---|---|
| Stage 2 | SCP-XXXX spreads outwards from the centre of mass at an unknown rate. At this point, the subject will begin to feel physically lighter as the weight of the affected cells is imperceptible. Depending on the rate and direction of transfer, organs such as the lungs, kidneys, and liver, may begin to be affected. |
| Stage 3 | SCP-XXXX reaches the heart and begins to spread to other parts of the body through the bloodstream. The rate of transfer increases at this point. Of note is that it is incapable of crossing the blood-brain barrier at this point, and the subject maintains all higher-level brain functionality. |
| Stage 4 | SCP-XXXX has at this point covered most of the internal body and begins to break out on the skin. SCP-XXXX enters the spinal cord. All major organs except the brain are by this point completely affected and the subject's perceptible mass will have decreased by upwards of 80%. SCP-XXXX crosses the blood-brain barrier and begins transfer to the frontal lobe. |
| Stage 5 | Virtually all of the subject's mass, except for the brain, is affected; only small patches of skin remain perceptible. Transfer in the brain proceeds through the frontal lobe into the limbic lobe; remembering becomes difficult, though not impossible. SCP-XXXX continues inwards towards the temporal lobe and covers the parietal lobe and occipital lobe in a circular motion. The brain's internal sense of time begins to breakdown and circadian rhythms are lost. |
| Stage 6 | Subject experiences complete emotional breakdown and loses the ability of self-conception. In an attempt to maintain memory retention and self-perception, instances may resort to repeating mundane information out loud, or writing said information in whatever means are most available, as a confirmation that they are still alive. |
| Stage 7 | [RESTRICTED TO LEVEL 4/XXXX CLEARANCE] |
The Foundation currently has five instances of SCP-XXXX contained (SCP-XXXX-1-5). Their details are recorded below.
| Designation | Name | Stage | Discovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| SCP-XXXX-1 | Ashley Richardson | Stage 4 | Discovered after checking into his local doctor's surgery complaining of memory issues. Asked when he had "lost his arm and how?" by a doctor. Richardson responded with alarm and maintained he had two arms. Relocated to a psychiatric ward, where his condition became public knowledge and the Foundation was made aware. |
| SCP-XXXX-2 | Caoimhe McPhearson | Stage 3 | Discovered after posting about extreme weight loss on social media sites flagging Foundation anomaly detection algorithms. |
| SCP-XXXX-3 | Michael Donnelly | Stage 2 | Discovered via HIDDEN EYE protoccol. |
| SCP-XXXX-4 | Alex Baker | Stage 5 | Discovered via HIDDEN EYE protoccol. |
| SCP-XXXX-5 | Saoirse | Stage 6 | Discovered via HIDDEN EYE protoccol. |
Addendum XXXX.001
Each instance of SCP-XXXX is required to undergo weekly interviews with personnel. The following is a selection of key interviews.
Addendum XXXX.002
The following a series of diary extracts from SCP-XXXX-6 prior to containment.
Addendum XXXX.003
The following is a series of correspondence between Dr. Gabriel Burns and junior researcher Dr. Aimee Maguire, regarding research into Stage 7 of SCP-XXXX.
