Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a 1.2 m x 0.5 m x 0.5 m glass cage with a sliding door mechanism on the front inside of a 3 m x 2 m x 2 m room. Any camera left in the containment area will immediately be destroyed (see Incident-XXXX-1) and any individual without the permission to remove SCP-XXXX from its cage will immediately be terminated
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 20.3 cm long and 3.8 cm wide wooden paintbrush. SCP-XXXX was recovered from an art vendor in ██████████, Connecticut. Its origin of production is unknown, and the way the art vendor obtained it is [DATA EXPUNGED].
When exposed to SCP-XXXX for 5 to 10 minutes, subjects in a 1m radius of SCP-XXXX have reported a slight change in their color vision, but these reports varied. Some subjects reported seeing colors similar to Deuteranopia color blindness, while other subjects report seeing fully inverted color vision. These affects can last from 1 to 5 hours. SCP-XXXX manages this by emitting some kind of lasting radiation. Analysis on the paintbrush is suggesting the radiation is coming from the brush part of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX has also been tested on animals, though animals seem to have much more anomalous reactions (see Experiment Logs).
Experiment Logs:
Test A - 3/2/20██
Subject:
1 Adult Male Meerkat, and 1 Infant Male Meerkat.
Procedure:
Authorized personnel release both meerkats into SCP-XXXX's containment area.
Results:
Adult Meerkat shatters glass by charging at the cage at ██ km/s, and dies immediately. Infant Meerkat seems to have no affect, even after 30 minutes of exposure.
Analysis:
Adult Male Meerkats are affected in approximately 2 minutes of being exposed to SCP-XXXX, and become erratic, and restless. Infant Male Meerkats are not affected.
Test B - 3/2/20██
Subject:
2 Adult Female Geckos.
Procedure:
Authorized personnel release both geckos into SCP-XXXX's containment area.
Results:
Both gecko's colors become inverted, but no behavioral changes were recognized.
Analysis:
Adult Female Geckos invert colors when exposed to SCP-XXXX for approximately 10 minutes.
Test C - 3/7/20██
Subject:
2 Male Infant Rats.
Procedure:
Authorized personnel release the rats into SCP-XXXX's containment area.
Results:
One grows about 5 cm in height and length, and the other grows 7 cm in length. Further examination shows that both the rat's ages were not affected after the growth.
Analysis:
Infant Rat's sizes are affected after approximately 5 minutes of exposure to SCP-XXXX. Further examination shows that the growth in size always varies from rat to rat based off of an unknown factor. Behavioral changes were not recognized.
Test D - 3/7/20██
Subject:
1 Adult Female Rabbit.
Procedure:
Authorized personnel release the rabbit into SCP-XXXX's containment area.
Results:
Half of the Rabbit's body inverts in color.
Analysis:
Adult Female Rabbits have half of their body's color inverted after approximately 4 minutes of exposure to SCP-XXXX, and no behavioral changes were noticed.
Incident-XXXX-1: A Kodak AZ251 camera was left by Dr. L████ in SCP-XXXX's containment area unintentionally. After the camera was exposed to SCP-XXXX for an unknown time period, the camera took pictures, and the light emitted by the camera made one Class D go temporarily blind due to the 430 lumen flash being emitted by it. The camera stopped after approximately 5 minutes. The pictures recovered afterwards on the camera were blurry and had an inverted color scheme. After further examination of the photos it was merely observed as unimportant and there was no discernible subject.
A day later, at the same time the incident happened the day before, the camera repeated this activity while in Dr. L████'s office. Dr. L████ was not in his office at the time of the incident, but Dr. L████ reported seeing the same blurry pictures on the camera, and the camera was furthermore destroyed.
