Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Subjects infected with SCP-XXXX are to be fitted with a standard hydrostasis suspension apparatus and submerged in an acrylic glass tank to be filled at all times with isotonic saline solution. The top of the containment tank is to be fitted with a stainless steel grill with holes no larger than one millimeter in diameter. The grill should be routinely inspected for damage and replaced immediately if any should be found.
The bottom of the tank should possess a similar steel grill that can be removed to reveal a filtration passage when draining the tank. This filtration unit will be accessible from beneath the tank and fitted with an electric cremation unit fitting DSPER-class specifications.
Sterilization procedures must be carried out every 48 hours by Class D personnel. During sterilization process, containment tank should remain empty for more than ten minutes before refilling. In the event of a containment breach, security personnel authorized for Level 4 bio-hazard containment response are to be deployed.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a virus bearing strong resemblance to certain strains of papillomavirus and ██████-████ virus. Infection by the organism has so far proven to be exclusive to humans, with contamination causing stage one symptoms to develop between ten and fifteen hours after initial exposure. As symptoms begin to appear, individuals infected by SCP-XXXX begin developing wart-like growths of various densities and surface areas along the torso, limbs, face, and ████.
Twenty to thirty-five hours after manifestation of stage one symptoms, stage two symptoms begin manifesting. The growths begin to develop humanoid features, including arms, feet, and facial structures. As time passes, the growths begin to develop into instances of SCP-XXXX-1. The growths begin to appear more humanoid, with proportions and level of activity depending on the origin of the growth. See document 2458-Omicron for further details.
Stage three infected individuals develop symptoms after an additional twenty to thirty hours after manifestation of stage two symptoms. At this point, fully-formed instances of SCP-XXXX-1 begin budding off the epidermis of the infected individual, becoming fully mobile, or as much as possible given their body structure. SCP-XXXX-1 instances have been observed to initially be non-sapient, but their collective intelligence seems to increase as more instances of SCP-XXXX-1 bud off the host body Revised, see test log A-3.
The organisms appear to serve two main purposes: to feed and ensure the survival of the host by collecting and providing nourishment and administering it either orally or ████████ if host body is ██████████, and to spread SCP-XXXX through contact of bodily fluids by scratching, biting, or ████████ the esophagus of an uninfected individual. After separating from the host body, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 do not seem to require sustenance, but are susceptible to suffocation. Instances naturally expire after 48 to ███ hours.
All interviewed subjects infected with the organism have attested that infection does not cause any pain, although some have stated the growths cause mild irritation, comparable to that caused by a common mosquito bite.
Although some subjects claim that instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have communicated with them, no audio equipment has recorded these communications. Despite several instances of the organisms possessing oral structures and vocalizations, all attempts at communicating with them has failed.

Addendum XXXX-B: Document 2458-Omicron
Following test XXXX-A-3, designations have been drafted for different identified types of SCP-XXXX-1 instances. SCP-XXXX-1 varies in size, but generally is found between 12 to 30 centimeters in size.
| Classification |
Origin |
Physiology |
Determined Role |
| SCP-XXXX-1-A |
Torso, buttocks, shoulders, calves |
Varying, generally possess enlarged limbs, malformed cephalic region, one or two eyes |
Specimens seem to posses a role akin to a worker, collecting and transporting food to the host. They appear to be produced most commonly. |
| SCP-XXXX-1-B |
Forearms, thighs, hands, feet |
The torso is engorged and dominated by a central eye. Limbs are elongated but emaciated. Cephalic region is often under-developed or non-existent. |
Specimens possess more refined motor skills, capable of handling sensitive objects or delivering nourishment to the host body. More feeble than type A specimens. |
| SCP-XXXX-1-C |
Head |
Enlarged cephalic region present, with reduced to non-existent limbs. Presence of one or two oral structures and zero to five ocular structures. |
Specimen appears to have higher cognitive functions than others, and is capable of somehow communicating with other SCP-XXXX-1 instances to solve complex problems. Usually immobile without asisstance. |
| SCP-XXXX-1-D |
████ |
Legs are significantly reduced, while arms and torso have developed significant musculature. Absence of a neck, but the cephalic region is enlarged to make room for an oral structure with predatory incisors. Largest of the specimens, reaching sizes up to 30cm. |
Warrior-type specimen. Their physiology causes them to adopt a knuckle-walking gait. Typically passive, but aggressive towards humans not infected by SCP-XXXX. Saliva contains a high concentration of SCP-XXXX. Despite the prominent oral development, the specimen takes no interest in feeding. |
+ Breach Report 234-Epsilon-17
Subject: SCP-XXXX-B
Procedure: Subject was administered intravenous nourishment of varying caloric quantities to observe rate of formation of SCP-XXXX-1 instances during third stage symptoms.
Results: At standard 2000 kcal diet, SCP-XXXX-1 formation rate averages around ██/hour. Formation rate drops at an exponential rate, and a minimal caloric intake of 1,200 kcal reduces instance formation to █/day. When subject was reduced to an 800 kcal diet, formation of SCP-XXXX-1 instances increased to ███/hour. Subject expired within █ hours of final test.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX appears to take into account the host body's metabolic processes when forming SCP-XXXX-1 instances. A well-nourished host produces more SCP-XXXX-1, but the opposite is observed when the host body is under starvation conditions. These particular instances of SCP-XXXX-1 directed their attention to the intravenous feeding tube, indicating this may be a survival response to rapidly procure nourishment for the host.
Comments: The metabolic toll that SCP-XXXX cam take on subjects is tremendous! I've never seen a subject ██████ that quickly since working with SCP-████! - Dr. O█████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-C
Procedure: Subject was provided a standard 2000 kcal diet, administered through standard Class D packaged meals. Subject was analyzed to determine behavior of SCP-XXXX-1 in a less restrictive environment.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 instances produce at a similar rate as observed in test A-1. Specimens formed have been observed to not vary in proportion randomly, but instead can be categorized based on what region of the body they originate from. The organisms attempt to feed the host, managing to disassemble the packaged meal and transport it to their host. D-56312 initially resisted the procedure, causing SCP-XXXX-1 to force-feed the host, causing injury to the ███ and ████. Following this, the subject became compliant with SCP-XXXX-1, and no further incidents of violence were observed.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX-1 seems to prioritize the well-being of the host on a strictly metabolic level. Injury to the host seems to be rare, only occurring if it resists caloric intake. Furthermore, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 can be classified based on their place of origin on the host body. (see Document 2458-Omicron).
Comments: I was expecting worse, to be honest. SCP-XXXX-1 isn't particularly resilient, but they're stronger than they look. Despite that, they seem fairly docile. They also show possible signs of a sort of hive intelligence. Definitely the subject of the next test. - Dr. O█████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-C
Procedure: Subject was placed in a testing chamber containing three puzzles of varying complexities constructed from acrylic glass and steel components. Puzzles of greater complexity (requiring more steps to solve) contained greater caloric rewards. Puzzles are kept behind an acrylic glass wall with holes allowing SCP-XXXX-1, but not the subject, to approach them.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 instances at first seem disinterested in the puzzles, but become more active as the host's stored calories diminished. After attempts to demolish the puzzle structures failed, more instances of SCP-XXXX-1-C rapidly formed. Distress was observed in the subject. Following this, SCP-XXXX-1 was able to coordinate itself to solve the puzzles. The organisms focused on the most complex puzzle first, solving it in thirteen minutes and delivering the reward to the host. The other two puzzles were solved in ten and four minutes respectively, with a similar result.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems to be able to prioritize which type of SCP-XXXX-1 is required to accomplish a given task. As suspected, an increase in the instances of SCP-XXXX-1-C appears to cause an increase in the collective cognitive function of the organisms.
Comments: SCP-XXXX definitely imitates the processes of any social animal, while simultaneously exhibiting hive-mind characteristics. The host is likely emitting some sort of control/response signal, but we've yet to pin down what it is. - Dr. O█████
Subjects: SCP-XXXX-C, personnel D-61009, personnel D-70442. (Note: D-61009 psych-eval has concluded strong misogyny and violent temperament, deemed appropriate to provide a stress response to the host.)
Procedure: D Class personnel D-70442 was introduced into a standard containment room separated by steel mesh. Holes in the grating along the floor allow instances of SCP-XXXX-1 to cross the room, while preventing interaction of the subjects. After completion of this test, the process was repeated with D-61009.
Results: Two minutes after introduction of D-70442, SCP-XXXX-C experienced a notable increase in production of SCP-XXXX-1-D, as well as a single instance of SCP-XXXX-1-C. SCP-XXXX-1-A and SCP-XXXX-1-B remained near the host body, while SCP-XXXX-D instances rapidly approached D-70442, assaulting them. The test subject resisted the assault, causing 2 casualties of SCP-XXXX-D. Assault was non-fatal, with the specimens retreating to the host body after inflicting minor injuries to the test subject. SCP-XXXX-C remained passive during the experiment, only speaking after assault ended, appearing to caress and speak to SCP-XXXX-1. As test was terminated, D-70442 attempted to assault security personnel during retrieval, leading to his termination. Corpse was autopsied to reveal presence of SCP-XXXX in the bloodstream.
After introduction of D-61009, the test subject began making threatening gestures and comments towards SCP-XXXX-C, attempting to breach the steel grating. This led to a sudden increase in formation of SCP-XXXX-1-D, significantly more than in the first trial. All instances of this specimen swarmed and assaulted the test subject. SCP-XXXX-C appears to gesture in a celebratory and goading manner. After █ minutes, D-61009 collapsed. SCP-XXXX-1-D ceased their aggression ██ minutes later and returned to the host body, which once again fraternized with SCP-XXXX-1. The test was then terminated. D-61009 was determined expired from blood loss, fractures along the left tibia, spine, and cranium, and partial decapitation. Due to the nature of the assault, it was not possible to determine which injuries caused death and which were committed post-mortem.
Analysis: While SCP-XXXX seems to attempt to spread itself through the saliva and bodily fluids of SCP-XXXX-1, it seems to prefer to neutralize entities it deems hostile. This is possibly to protect the original host body, meaning SCP-XXXX may prefer keeping a current host metabolizing over spreading.
Comments: If SCP-XXXX-C is capable of problem-solving, it's fully possible that they can even develop defense strategies. Their warrior-types seemed to target D-61009's left leg. Apparently they'd suffered a past injury there, making it more susceptible. No way to tell if this is luck or predetermined. I need to see if I can get more D Class allocated to further experiments. Also, can we get a psych-eval for SCP-XXXX-C? She's been getting a bit too familiar with the specimens. - Dr. O█████
Subjects: SCP-XXXX-D-1 and SCP-XXXX-D-2
Procedure: Subjects were placed into standard containment room, confined by individual cylindrical steel mesh cages with openings for SCP-XXXX-1.
Results: As experiment commenced, both D-1 and D-2 produce several instances of SCP-XXXX, with the majority being SCP-XXXX-1-D, and with three SCP-XXXX-1-C being produced. While the C-type specimens remained within their confinement cages, D-type specimens emerged and began to immediately attack the specimens of the opposite test subjects. As casualties developed from both D-1 and D-2, they were replaced swiftly, causing a traumatic effect to the test subjects. After █ minutes, the D-type specimens of SCP-XXXX-D-1 overwhelm those of SCP-XXXX-D-2 and swarm the opposing test subject, terminating them. At the estimated time of expiration of SCP-XXXX-D-2, the specimens from both test subjects became passive. They proceed to dismember SCP-XXXX-D-2, feeding its viscera to SCP-XXXX-D-1. The subject resists and is incapacitated by breaking of the jaw. Feeding continued until test was terminated, leading to the terminating of all extant instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and the recovery of SCP-XXXX-D-1.
Analysis: When two carriers of SCP-XXXX encounter each other, the organism appears to attack itself. The defeated host in this conflict is then terminated and consumed by the victorious host. This indicates that the organism seeks to establish itself in stronger hosts rather than spread.
Comments: You could hear a damn paperclip drop after we wrapped A-5. None of us expected this. I'm amazed that SCP-XXXX was recovered at all, given its nature. I'm pushing for further testing. We need to understand what makes it that one host wins and one loses, and more importantly, how smart this thing can get. - Dr. O█████
NOTICE: Following report, SCP-XXXX is to cease testing and be placed in permanent containment upon order of Site ██ Director.
