Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX inhabits a person's consciousness. To contain such entity, the host (classified as SCP-XXXX-1) must be located in a two person suite, together with a carefully handpicked roommate. The suite consists of two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a common dining room tied to an open kitchen. Both the host and its roommate have to be chosen from class-D personnel when possible, and must be monitored at all rimes. The room is located 500 meters beneath the Research and Containment Facility, Area-07, only accessible with the use of a designated elevator. A 500 meters long corridor must separate the room from the elevator doors. It is strictly forbidden for any member of the staff to enter or get close to SCP-XXXX's room as that would compromise the safety of the containment process. It is of fundamental importance for the research team any member of the staff to be able to distinguish at any time between SCP-XXXX-1 and their roommate, who isn't serving as a host. For this reason some safety measures have been established: the subjects chosen to contain SCP-XXXX must be of male sex and female sex respectively (who is the host and who is the roommate is of no importance); SCP-XXXX-1 has to wear a fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark, bright green collar and only wear pre-approved red clothes, while the roommate has to wear pre-approved blue clothes and is forbidden to wear any other accessories such as earrings or rings; The host and their roommate cannot communicate with anyone outside of the suite.
Between SCP-XXXX's containment suite and the facility there must be a second suite of similar nature, approximately 250 meters below ground, containing two class-D personnel, both suitable to be the host, ready to move at all times. When SCP-XXXX-1 inevitably dies, one of the class-D subjects from the second suite will have to go down to SCP-XXXX's suite, at which point they'll become the new roommate, while the old roommate has now become the new host.
If any member of the staff has doubts on which of the subjects is currently the host, they must report it as soon as possible and start the termination process. One and only one of the two class-D subjects from the second suite has to be sent alone to kill both the subjects by shooting them in the head with a shotgun. After ensuring both their deaths, the new subject, now the only one alive, will become the new SCP-XXXX-1, and a final fourth class-D will be sent on their own to the first suite to be SCP-XXXX-1's new roommate. The new host must dispose of the shotgun.
SCP-XXXX-1 and their roommate are able to ask for simple external objects by just shouting their need from inside the room. The staff will decide weather to allow them their request and eventually send the item through a 1 x 1 x 1 m elevator situated 500 meters above the room. The elevator can only be accessed by level 2 or higher authorized personnel. It is forbidden to use the elevator to send animals, plants or any other living being.
SCP-XXXX-1 and their roommate can access this small elevator to obtain the item and are to be reminded that the elevator will only stay opened for a limited amount of time, they are however not able to utilize this elevator and cannot send items from the room.
SCP-XXXX-1 and their roommate will have to clean for themselves, while food, water and any other resource needed for survival will be sent to them through the small elevator. The room is also furnished with a hatch to dispose of any waste. The hatch is made so that no human can pass through it, being too small.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an entity which lacks a proper physical form and parasitizes the human brain, therefore it can only be contained inside a person's consciousness. The only requirement needed to be a host is to have working brain functions and to be capable of complex thinking, primarly humans. The only people excluded from this category are children below the age of 8 months (circa 240 days, the number may vary depending on the subject) and people whose brain has gone through an irreversible cessation of all activity and have been certified brain dead by facility medics. No animal other than humans has been found being suitable to be a host, as it seems that the key factor for being a host is being sentient.
The person whose consciousness is containing SCP-XXXX is referred to as the host and is classified as SCP-XXXX-1, as such it must be contained. SCP-XXXX inhabits a person's consciousness and cannot leace it until said person dies or permanently loses all brain functions, at which point SCP-XXXX will automatically transfer itself to the nearest person suitable to become a host. The transfer is inevitable. Researchers at the facility haven't been able to find a limit to the range of said transfer, also because of SCP-XXXX's ability to transfer itself through any matter and regardless of any measure taken to impede it. The maximum range established, after a series of experiments carried out in the Atlantic Ocean, has been of 2950 km. Since then, SCP-XXXX's transfer ability has been considered to have an unlimited range. It is still unknown how SCP-XXXX travels from mind to mind. Some have suggested that SCP-XXXX is actually composed, and moves through, anti-matter, others started to doubt if SCP-XXXX exists at all, considering the fact that the only proof we have of its existence is through the host. These all remain hypotheses as we currently have no way to properly verify them.
SCP-XXXX parasitizes the consciousness of a human and sends them messages through different indirect means. It will communicate through signs, nature and words that, while they normally would have no significance outside of their own context, now suddenly seem to gain new meaning and try to establish communication with the host. Some of the recorded methods of communications are:
- While being in the middle of a busy and loud crowd, suddenly being able to distinguish singular words between the many that are being exclaimed at the same time. One after the other, in a succession, making them form a coherent sentence;
- Specific lines from songs or movies start to gain a meaning outside of their intended purpose and seem to answer to the host's questions;
- The noise of the wind starts to sound like words and moans;
- A flock of birds in the sky takes the form of letters and clouds become sentences;
- Asking a question out loud and suddenly finding the answer to it in a random social network comment or username, song lyrics or movie quotes;
- Spilling water or similar fluids can form words or sentences on the floor or walls.
The staff is to be reminded that none of these methods has shown signes of consistency and as such, any movement made by the host has to be considered as a possible attempt to communication by SCP-XXXX.
After parasitizing a person, SCP-XXXX will send messages to the host to start a conversation and tell them to fulfill specific actions. It doesn't have the power to directly control a person so it relies on subliminal messages and repeated commands to convince the host to follow its directions. The degree of compliance to these commands depends on the person, while some hosts will not follow any order, others might be convinced to listen to SCP-XXXX. Some of its requests were to gather different kinds of firearms, recruit people in a cult-like organization, construct buildings, steal access keys to nuclear plants and even to kidnap famous physicists. The orders given hint to a greater plan but SCP-XXXX reduses to admit it. To properly study this anomaly, team VSNRY has been established to discover and study what SCP-XXXX's plan could be, its potential danger and how to eventually stop it.
Multiple hosts have reported a constant feeling of being observed by a stranger, as if someone was spying, unconfortably staring at them from a secret place. This makes simple tasks like going to the toilet or showering that much more difficult. It has been documented that even in cases of SCP-XXXX-1 remaining the host for multiple years, the subject has never grown accustomed to this sensation of awkward silence. Every subject that became a host to this entity has never been able to feel alone again. This factor, together with the ominous messages that the host constantly recieves, has made SCP-XXXX a dangerous threat for any individual's sanity. Remaining under the influence of SCP-XXXX for too long can drive the host to, from best to worse: depression, insanity, schizophrenia or, in some cases, even suicide.
Information gathered from SCP-XXXX: The facility has managed to establish different conversations with SCP-XXXX by gathering informations from the multiple hosts that have been cycling in the facility since the day of its containment. Obtaining these informations has not been an easy task, as they have to be gathered from what the host considers to to be a message from SCP-XXXX. While SCP-XXXX seems to have a human-like personality, any person that has been a host has described it as a "twisted individual". Here are some of the informations gathered through conversations over time:
- SCP-XXXX claims to have been born as human civilizations started to appear on Earth, and has since had many names throughout history, such as "Silent Speaker", "Mad Angel" or "Imaginary Stalker". (The Foundation hasn't been able to find any relevant records on such names.) After arriving at the facility, it started to call itself "SCP-XXXX".
- SCP-XXXX started to refer to itslef with the code "SCP-XXXX" before the SCP Foundation gave it an official classification. It claims to not need a name per se, but that comunication with the host is easier when they have a way to adress it. It is currently unknown how SCP-XXXX discovered the classification system or if it knew that there was no item tied to the number "XXXX". An update of security measures and policies has been requested.
- SCP-XXXX claims to have even been in the consciousness of famous historical figures, such as Antony the Great, Joan of Arc and William Blake.
- SCP-XXXX remembers every person it parasitized and every action taken by them during their period as a host. SCP-XXXX can decribe their actions and feelings to a perfect fit, sometimes even better than the host itself. SCP-XXXX is also able to perfectly describe the moment of their deaths and every sensation they had as their lives were taken away, often described as a feeling of █████████ ███ ████████, ███████ ████ ███ ████████.
- SCP-XXXX seems to have taken a liking to its containment room and has started to refer to the facility as "The playground". Some memebers of the research team seem worried about SCP-XXXX's degree of comfort in its containment. Its lack of worry coupled with the hypothesis that SCP-XXXX might have conatained itself as part of its unknown plan became the base for a requested of termination. It is, however, unclear how this operation would be handled, as SCP-XXXX has no known physical form.
We remind the staff that the facility currently has no way to properly verify the information gathered from SCP-XXXX.
Incident-XXXX-A: A peculiar event has taken place in the suite on ██/██/████. SCP-XXXX-1 suddenly attacked its roommate with a fountain pen, managing to cut her throat, damaging her jugular vein and sending spouts of blood on the wall. The blood has been observed to form the sentence "You're doing a great job" as it poured down the wall. After the events, the research team decided on the termination of SCP-XXXX-1. Their successor took place and the situation is now stable. The reason for SCP-XXXX-1's behaviour is unknown but we have strong reasons to believe that it was influenced by SCP-XXXX.
Addendum-A: SCP-XXXX was discovered after an incident that occured on 02/10/19██. On that date a man managed to break in Area-07, creating a concussion inside the facility. The man was armed with a handgun and took Dr. ██████ as a hostage. Thanks to the security's immediate response, the threat was stopped and the intuder killed, with no casualties and only 4 injured. After some investigation, it was discovered that the man was [Data Omitted].
It is unclear how the man managed to bypass security, when many people and even anomalous entities before him couldn't. It is suspected that the man managed to obtain the information from a third-party provider.
After this incident, Dr. ██████ began to feel the effects of SCP-XXXX and witness its manifestations, and so the containment began.
