Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4563 is to be contained in a concrete room with a single pillar. Area surrounding pillar is to be reinforced with glass sheets for observation and recording of any abnormalities in behavior.

Weekly maintenance must be conducted by assigned Containment Specialists to prevent buildup of SCP-4564-2 on recording devices and glass walls.

To slow further degradation of entity and resulting production of SCP-4563-2: SCP-4563 must be fed every two days scraps of wallpaper depicting the following: blue hummingbirds, ducks, and mockingjays.

Description: SCP-4563 is an anomalous, seemingly sapient, colony of mold, with sub-surface hyphae¹ reaching to a radius of approximately 1.2 meters from the center of mass and hypothesized conidiophore,² identical in appearance to that of Aspergillus Niger³ though genetic testing of SCP-4563 have been found to be contradictory: its chromosomal structure matching 98.9 percent to that of human DNA.

While in containment SCP-4563 will have two states: Stasis and Active. In every 2 days entity remains Stasis state: SCP-4563 will gradually expel an accumulate of 2.8 grams of SCP-4563-2, black dust with chemical composition similar to that of asphalt and sulfur. This is followed by a noticeable decrease in approximate length of radius. Feeding SCP-4563 scraps of wallpaper decreases the accumulated mass of SCP-4563-2 expelled by 53%.

Active state will be triggered when human subjects are within approximately 2.4-2.7 meter radius from central mass. SCP-4563 will then speak to human subject, despite having no organs to enable it to, with pitch range of 209-229 Hz. asking subject about subject's health and recent happenings. The pitch of SCP-4563's "voice" is seemingly relative to the pitch of subject's Mother's voice.

SCP-4563: No…in a room…full of people in the same clothing…coat. Different from…my home.

Subject D-45631 proceeds to sit down within 2.4-2.7 meter radius looking down at the ground. This proceeds for 4 more minutes before he is escorted out. Shortly afterwards he confessed to the [DATA EXPUNGED] of 63 year old woman ███████ ██████████.

Note: SCP-4563 could be used to force confessions without use of mind-altering substances and physical torture. SCP-4563 seems to pretend to be subject’s mother unless interrupted multiple times and denied as seen in Interview #1 with Senior Researcher Dr. ███████. However, SCP-4563 seems to know subject's name and correct nickname by biological mother. How?

Procedure: Subject is to be placed in glass cellar where SCP-4563 is contained. Observed through glass and through recording devices placed inside containment chamber. Subject will be told that SCP-4563 is a medium at which subject’s mother will “speak through.” Interactions taking place within containment chamber will be logged and recorded.

Subject (Male,11, displays symptoms of childhood depression) is escorted by ███████ orphanage child handler into glass containment chamber. Subject seems nervous at prospect of hearing subject’s mother’s voice again.

Dr. ████████: Are you ready to hear mama’s voice?

Subject: Yeah! Yeah! But…

Dr. ███████: But what [DATA EXPUNGED]?

Subject: Will she still want me…?

Handler ████: Of course she would [DATA EXPUNGED], you’re a wonderful boy. Who wouldn’t?

Smoke detector alarm is alerted, SCP-4563 starts expelling SCP-4563-1 at 4% increased rate. All personnel, subject, and handler are evacuated.

Conclusion: SCP-4563 will enter “Active” state when subject without a deceased mother is present but will not interact. SCP-4563’s heat signatures will rise and will expel more SCP-4563-1, followed by a crackling sound. Degradation processes will hasten.
Note: This was a failure. God, the paperwork this experiment ensued, protocol WIPE had to be enacted on child subject and handler to maintain secrecy of the SCP Foundation. They’ll have my neck for this. It also seemed that presence of mother-less subject damaged the SCP by its mere presence? Reminder that any personnel without mother must not be allowed within 2.4-2.7 meter radius. - Dr. ███████

Incident 4563-B

Description: On timestamp May 10, 20██ 00:42 SCP-4563 entered “Active” state despite no personnel at the premises. SCP-4563 started emitting crackling sound, though no abnormal heat signatures and expulsion of SCP-4563-1 were observed. After 13 minutes, the following was recorded. As of 20██/10/05, the reach of sub-surface hyphae has reduced from 1.2 to 0.6 meters.

Addendum 1: SCP-4563

As of 20██/11/05, personnel must show valid ID of living biological mother before entering containment facility of SCP-4563 due to reduced area of sub-surface hyphae by 50.35%. Feeding of wallpaper will be rescheduled to happen daily to slow degradation processes.

Addendum 2: SCP-4563

A Newspaper article was found dating a month before SCP-4563's discovery and containment. About a fire in the same building SCP-4563 was found in. The following is an extract from the newspaper article that is believed to be about SCP-4563 or the former [DATA EXPUNGED]. DNA testing of SCP-4563, thought to be contradictory due to results stating SCP-4563 is of human origin, has found to be a 94% match to blood sample of [DATA EXPUNGED] in nearby hospital.

All further testing on SCP-4563 will be indefinitely frozen until the Ethics Committee files otherwise.
