Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard containment locker. Personnel are to avoid direct eye contact with SCP-XXXX's screen at any point when used for testing. SCP-XXXX's Li-Ion battery must be replaced twice weekly and never charged. No more than two personnel may enter the containment chamber at any point to reduce the chance of direct eye contact with the screen.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a consumer grade Shinano Pigeon 35 Film Camera, manufactured in 1952. SCP-XXXX contains, at the time of previous experiment, 8,032,400,000 pictures of the exact moments of every murder since 1952. It is not known how this many pictures are stored on SCP-XXXX, as there should only be enough storage space for 1142 photos.

When any of the pictures are viewed by any living creature, SCP-XXXX's front flash will activate and will temporarily blind and persons in the immediate vicinity of SCP-XXXX. This temporary blindness has been recorded to last from 30 seconds to 55 seconds. Once the blindness has subsided, any persons who viewed the picture will form into an exact reenactment of the picture that was viewed. All persons associated with the reenactment immediately cease upper brain functions and are pronounced clinically dead. If there are not enough viewers for a complete reenactment, then a brown substance, designated XXXX-A, will take the place of the missing viewer.

After 2 minutes of inactivity, all persons that were killed by SCP-XXXX, designated SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to stand up and walk around. All monitoring of SCP-XXXX-1 has revealed that, although it does exhibit motor skills, it does not show any higher brain functions and does not show any acknowledgement of pain. Appendix 1: Circumstances of Acquisition: SCP-XXXX was discovered when police arrived at an apartment in ████, San Diego, California. A woman reported her neighbour missing. When police arrived at the neighbours apartment they spotted SCP-XXXX a table and a male laying on the floor with the substance covering him from head to toe. Due to these circumstances the man could not be fully identified and was only later found to be Mr Jack Firth who had lived in the apartment for 3 months and had recently bought he camera at a garage sale. This was immediately reported to The Foundation and SCP-XXXX was recovered with the help of MTF Mu-4. The woman who had originally reported the incident was given Class-A Amnestics after being interviewed by Foundation staff. Upon investigation of SCP-XXXX, it was found that the previous owner was named below the front flash and was addressed to a Mr Marco Santos. Background checks on Mr Santos revealed that he had worked as a Forensic Photographer at the former 96th precinct police station in Manhattan, New York City and was assigned to 5642 cases. However, after he was disbanded from the police force, Mr Santos became intrigued with murder cases and began travelling to thousands more murder scenes, posing as a Forensic Photographer. He did this for 45 years until his death in 2003.

Following is an interview between Dr Maynard and the woman, who will be referred to as Civilian, who originally reported the incident

Dr Maynard Thank you for coming to talk to us, I understand how distressing this situation must be.

Civilian It's okay, it's just… What was that stuff?

Dr Maynard I'm sorry, but that information is classified, now… Do you know anything about Mr Firth?

Civilian Yeah, he was a great friend of mine, we went to the same school. He was always an avid photographer. He said he was going to a garage sale in New York and when he came back the next day he told me that he had bought a camera. "Vintage Beauty" he called it.

Dr Maynard Do you know anything about the event leading up to the incident?

Civilian Sadly not, I was out shopping. But before I went, I saw Jack. He told me he wass gonna try out the camera soon.

Dr Maynard Do you know who Mr Firth bought the camera from?

Civilian Yeah, he was talking about how he got it for a bargain from a guy named Michael Santos…

Dr Maynard Please continue.

Civilian Apparently his dad had died years ago, so he wanted to sell it as it was just gathering dust. He said he'd never turned it on before

+ Addendum XXXX-1: Experimentation logs E-XXXX-1

Subject D-7187 was placed inside SCP-XXXX's containment chamber and was asked to open SCP-XXXX's containment box. Subject complied and removed SCP-XXXX from the containment box. Subject was then asked to describe SCP-XXXX and turn the object on. Subject again complies and gives an accurate description of SCP-XXXX including a description of the photos stored on SCP-XXXX. Following is an audio log from inside SCP-XXXX's containment chamber.

D-7187 I can see two guys, one's got a gun and hes… pointing it at the other guy.

D-7187 There's smoke coming out of the gun, it looks like the guys shot him.

D-7187 It's a guy in a room, two windows behind him, looks like his neck's been sliced open. Oh my god that is disgusting.

Intercom Thank you, now could you please read out the number of photos clearly and slowly, it should be on the top right of the display.

D-7187 There's eight billion, thirty-two million, four hundred thousand photos… Jeez, how many does one guy need?

Intercom Very good, now please standby.

D-7187 Wait… What the fuck are those?!

Audio feed is cut and SCP-XXXX's containment chamber is flooded with Carbon Monoxide, this successfully prevented the creation of an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 and is to be used in the event of any personnel obtaining eye contact with SCP-XXXX's screen. This procedure is to be referred to as Protocol XXXX-4

+ Addendum XXXX-2: Experimentation logs E-XXXX-2

During an experiment to discover more about SCP-XXXX-1's behaviour, Subject D-2764 was escorted into SCP-XXXX's containment chamber and was asked to remove SCP-XXXX from its containment box. Subject complied and placed SCP-XXXX on top of the containment box. Subject was then ordered to turn SCP-XXXX on and observe one of the photos, then describe it. Subject again complies and gives a description of a man being pushed off of a tall building. After 30 seconds, manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1 is confirmed by video feed in SCP-XXXX's containment chamber. Subject begins to bang on the door to SCP-XXXX's chamber while both instances of SCP-XXXX-2 start to walk towards the subject. When SCP-XXXX-2 came into contact with D-2764, D-2764 entered a state of extremely advanced decay, reduced to bones in 33 seconds.

+ Incident XXXX-1

During transportation of SCP-XXXX from Site-██ to Site-██, an opaque black plastic was placed over SCP-XXXX's screen and placed in its regular transportation box. While in transportation Dr. Uli ████ was ordered to provide a status on SCP-XXXX's condition, when the transport box was opened, it was discovered that the plastic covering SCP-XXXX's screen had been melted away by the brown substance. This caused the death of Dr. Uli ████. It is to be noted that no material is to be placed directly onto the screen of SCP-XXXX and the Li-Ion batteries are to be removed during transit.

+ Incident XXXX-2

During a routine charging of SCP-XXXX's batteries, the same brown substance used to form instances of SCP-XXXX-1 started leaking out of the battery compartment. Two D-Class personnel who were charging the batteries were seriously burned and one fell unconscious because of shock and died due to extreme blood loss in consequence of the injuries he sustained from the acidic substance. New procedures have been put in place to remove the risk of an incident like this happening again
