Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an SCP foundation standard lock-box in the Safe Anomalous Object Ward of Site 162. The key to this lock-box is to be given out upon request, and is to be held by site head-researcher Dr. Adams. Testing of SCP-XXXX is to be carried out by at least three site researchers and a full recording of each test is to be made and submitted to site archives. Site researchers are encouraged to use D-Class personnel for testing, however there is no prohibition on other personnel being used for testing purposes at this time.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a beige translucent shower curtain measuring approximately 182x182 centimeters. SCP-XXXX will only display its anomalous nature under specific circumstances, listed below:

1. It must be hung from an American standard shower curtain rod
2. The shower curtain rod must be placed in a fully functioning bathroom equipped with at least one bathtub and one shower head.
3. A sapient being (hereafter referred to as the subject) must be alone in the room, and step into the bathtub.
4. The subject must be nude.*
5. The subject must perform the typical actions of a shower before the anomaly appears.
6. At least 5 minutes must pass from the time the shower head was turned on.

If all of the above conditions are met, SCP-XXXX will display its anomalous properties.

After 5 minutes from the beginning of the experiment, the subject will begin to report hearing faint noises described by most subjects as 'creepy' or 'ominous'. No anomalous sounds have ever been observed during testing. Once the subject closes their eyes to wash their head, they report an intense feeling of being watched and then open their eyes, regardless of the current state of suds in their hair. They report seeing an anomalous entity behind SCP-XXXX for 'a fraction of a second.' The entity is described as dark, hazy, indistinct, menacing, and many other vague descriptors. It is often described with conflicting reports as to the silhouette of its outline. The only unifying descriptor is a pair of red orbs somewhere on the entities body. No form of recording or observation from those outside of the bathtub can detect any anomalous entity during this time.

At this point, if the subject is convinced to continue the experiment, they will report the same feelings and will repeat the same actions and reactions. On the fifth repetition of the cycle, SCP-XXXX can be observed to be moving toward the subject at a slow rate. The movement also produces no discernable noise over the noise produced by the shower itself. If the subject does not open their eyes (or cannot), SCP-XXXX will stop within a centimeter of the subject, and remain there, keeping this distance despite the subjects movements for the remainder of the shower or until the subject opens their eyes again, at which point SCP-XXXX will cease all anomalous behavior for the remainder of the shower.

*Further testing is required.
