SCP-4156

SCP-4156.

It has been determined that when flipped, the object will land on the top or bottom of the box to determine "yes", it will land on the sides of the box to indicate "no", and the object will land on the front or back of the object to indicate "maybe". In the case of SCP-4156, an unsafe question is one that can result in any form of harm or disadvantage to any person, and a safe question is described as a trivial question that will not negatively affect another person.

It is unknown if SCP-4156 manipulates the future to correlate with the answer it gives, or it is able to somehow correctly predict the future. No other anomalous features have been noted about the object.

SCP-4156 was obtained from a high school in ████████, Maine in an operation performed by the foundation. The object came into knowledge of the foundation after a researcher in the area studying reported anomalies in a nearby forest learned of a police investigation of numerous disappearances in the area. The same researcher, who was passing by the local high school, noted that 4 students were sitting outside at lunchtime flipping it as a sort of game to pass time, asking the object questions. A few days later, the same foundation researcher noted the students playing the odd game, and a particular question that they asked. They asked if "████ █████" would ever commit suicide, and the box landed on the top of the box, one of the two sides that indicated a "yes" response. The next day, the same person was found dead in a nearby stream. It is noted that the students' intrigue continued to a point where they kept asking similar questions, and four disappearances occurred within the same month of █████, ████, one of which being of one of the students. The questioning of SCP-4156 that would result in the last of these disappearances was secretly recorded by the same foundation researcher sent to study the forest.

Student 1: Y'know, this might not be the best idea to keep doing this. We all know what happened to ████ █████ just a week ago. Her body was fucking mangled after falling from the tree she hung herself on.

Student 2: Oh come on, don't be such a wimp. We all know that those were just a bunch of coincidences. There's no way some random ass raisin box could be telling the future.

Student 3: You know that ███ has a point. It's really kinda fucked how accurate this little box has been at answering our screwed up questions.

Student 4: (Incoherent mumbling)

Student 2: Gimme that! (Sound of raisins rustling in box) Alright. Now, raisin box, tell me, will I die doing something stupid? (Sound of SCP-4156 landing on a concrete surface)

Student 3: Would you look at that! It landed directly on the top of the box!

Student 2: (Nervous chuckles) I'm sure the box is on an off day today. It can't be right all of the time. (Long pause) Right?

Student 4: (Incoherent mumbling) … Alright. Next question I guess.

Closing Statement: It should be noted that the student referred to as “Student 2” was never seen again after this conversation and that the other 3 students mentioned refuse to say what they believe happened to him for "fear of suffering the same fate.”
