Special Cointainment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept at Site-73 at all times. Anyone under level 2 clearance is prohibited from interacting with SCP-XXXX without permission. SCP-XXXX is to be kept in Dr. Ramos's office when not in use. Anytime SCP-XXXX is used for research purposes, it must be supervised by a minimum of two researchers. It is recommended to use the television remote that comes with SCP-XXXX for ease of access. The television remote batteries must be replaced once any researcher finishes their tests so the next researcher mustn’t replace it themselves.
SCP-XXXX's range is dampened in a lead-lined room or lead-lined container1, when testing SCP-XXXX, be supervised by at least one other researcher so as not to succumb to SCP-XXXX-1's anomalous effect. The chances of succumbing to SCP-XXXX-1's anomalous effects are made more likely when placed in any lead-lined room. SCP-XXX-1's anomalous effects are not immediate and can be treated. Individual's who are affected by SCP-XXXX-1's anomalous effects must be administered an amnestic as soon as possible.
There is a security device planted inside SCP-XXXX. In the event of a theft, the site director must activate the device using the remote detonation given to them. Once activated, SCP-XXXX will short-circuit and will no longer be operable, thus preventing any rogue agency or individual from using it for their own purposes.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 55-inch, 4K high-definition television with four HDMI ports. HDMI-1, also referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, is an HDMI port that broadcasts a random first-person “point of view”, abbreviated as “POV” of someone on Earth. Pressing the forward channel button will take it to another random “POV”, pressing the backward channel button will also yield the same result. It is possible to return to a previous “POV” by pressing either the forward or backward channel buttons. Any eye conditions an individual has, i.e., blindness, near-sightedness, etcetera, will be shown through the “POV”. It is also possible to hear what they're hearing. This too can vary if the individual is deaf or hard of hearing. Though it comes out muffled it is possible to hear an individuals current thoughts as well. This has allowed researchers to observe individuals experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations. When an individual dies, their "POV" will fade to black and stay on a black screen for approximately one minute before automatically switching to another individual’s "POV". It has been proven impossible to switch back to the previous "POV" in those circumstances.
When placed in a lead-lined room or any lead-lined container, SCP-XXXX-1’s broadcast effects are dampened severely. Limiting its range to about 40 kilometers. Any individual who stares at their own point of view will create an infinite mirror effect. They will enter into a trance-like state and require a third party to wake up. Individual's affected by SCP-XXXX-1 are unable to remember what they experienced. Individual's have been reported to become more irritable, unable to sleep, have a low appetite, disassociate, and have suicidal thoughts. In extreme cases, certain individual's have even committed suicide.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered on the 13th of September, 2019 when a man from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex called his local Best Buy to complain that his recently purchased television was acting "funny" and was broadcasting "strange stuff". An SCP field agent intercepted the call and had a team track down his house. Two field agents disguised as “Geek Squad”2 technicians, went to his house to take a look at his television. When they discovered the anomalous effect, they confiscated the television and administered an amnestic to the man before replacing his television with the same model so as not to raise suspicion.
