Item #: SCP 4430

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Currently, there is no way to contain SCP-4430 due to its unpredictable occurrences, however a cell phone tower in [Redacted], Illinois has been known to emit radio frequencies similar to SCP-4430, this tower is to be monitored by researchers and armed guards. Any attempt to intercept signals from SCP-4430 have proven futile. Emissions from the tower are to be directly reported to the nearest researcher. There is currently no Internet Service Provider that provides service to SCP-4430. Any attempts to trace SCP-4430 will lead to abandoned office, building, factory in that area code . Any personnel that answer SCP-4430 are to be quickly removed and are to be put in a containment unit and immediately become SCP-4430-1 until 24 hours have passed. Any person defined by SCP-4430-1 is to have 24/7 surveillance by armed guards, and to be studied. Any person to acknowledge SCP-4430 and identify themselves as “Melba” are to be considered “lost” and to be classified as SCP-4430-2 and studied.

Description: SCP-4430 is a phone call, particularly from America. These calls can come from multiple area codes, and have even been observed to come as far as Alaska. These calls will typically call cell phones belonging to the age group of 16-25. On rare occasion, SCP-4430 can be received through a radio transceiver. Once a user has received a call from SCP-4430 and has answered it, the cellphone will periodically receive calls from SCP-4430. Any attempts to identify a pattern in the way SCP-4430 contacts a user is unknown.

When receiving a call from SCP-4430, users describe an unusual feeling of dread. And are typically reluctant to answer SCP-4430. However after multiple calls from SCP-4430, users are typically describe feeling extremely annoyed, and are more likely to answer the call and declare they want to be put on the “Do Not Call List”. Upon answering SCP-4430, according to any user that answers SCP-4430, is greeted when silence. However upon further analysis, it is understood that SCP-4430 is only silent to them, when it could actually be described as “a loud buzzing noise, with unidentified voices in the background. If the user states that SCP-4430 has the wrong number, SCP-4430 will promptly hang up. However it has been observed that SCP-4430 will call back after an unknown period of time. If the User then goes on to state or say something similar to “I have received multiple calls from this number, and I am not Melba”. The anomalous properties of SCP-4430 will begin to take hold on its victim. The Victim will then believe that they are “Melba” and begin to express habits of “Melba”, these victims will be considered SCP-4430-1

Users that state that pretend they are Melba, will be greeted by a loud screeching noise, and promptly hang up. Upon doing this, the victim would now be described as SCP-4430-2. 5 minutes after SCP-4430 hangs up, SCP-4430-2 describes a feeling of dread. 2 hours after the initial dread, users describe seeing a humanoid creature claiming to be “Melba” materialize from any room, corner, etc that is below 12.57 lumens or less, “Melba” is considered to be SCP-4430-3. Radio transmitters will pick up sounds emanating from the SCP-4430-3, and can be described as hearing a call from SCP-4430. SCP-4430-3 is also noted to actually have a physical form but cannot be seen by researchers, as SCP-4430-3 is able to interact with its environment (I.E moving objects). After a period of 30 minutes SCP-4430-3 will begin to walk toward the victim. After SCP-4430-3 reaches the SCP-4430-2, SCP-4430-2 will commit suicide the ways of suicide depend on SCP-4430-2’s environment. If no weapon is provided, SCP-4430-2 will repeatedly slam their head into a wall. If a weapon is provided, SCP-4430-2 will use the weapon to commit suicide. If SCP-4430-2 is strapped down, with no way of movement, SCP-4430-2’s vitals will cease. Any attempt to discover why this occurs is unknown. After 24 hours SCP-4430-2’s body will disappear, it is believed that the body of SCP-4430-2 becomes SCP-4430-3 but this is currently being researched. The first description ever recorded of SCP-4430-3 was described as the Foundations deceased researcher Dr.[REDACTED].
