SCP-XXXX is to be kept in locked drawer at Containment Area-07. SCP-XXXX must be guarded by, at minimum, one clearance-level-2 security personnel. Security personnel are to be rotated approximately every 6 hours. All personnel who read past the first eight pages of SCP-XXXX are to be terminated immediately.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a small notebook with no recognizable markings on the cover. The object is estimated to have roughly 80 pages in total. Foundation research personnel are unable to determine the exact number of pages; the only pages that can be read are the first eight. The first eight pages of SCP-XXXX are torn and written in an unknown language.

The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX manifest when a subject attempts to read past page eight. Subjects reading to this point will enter a state of physical and mental distress, convulsing and babbling incoherently. After this effect has taken hold, the subject will be reclassified as SCP-XXXX-1. Approximately one minute after SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest, SCP-XXXX-1 will attempt to locate the nearest individual within a 1 kilometer radius. If SCP-XXXX-1 successfully locates an individual, it will attempt to terminate said individual by strangulation. The entity is incapable of any form of communication. SCP-XXXX-1 will limp whilst not being near any people and will mutter unintelligible phrases under its breath.

SCP-XXXX Discovery

SCP-XXXX was discovered inside of a house located in Liverpool, United Kingdom. On 19/11/2015, the house caught on fire and multiple fire fighters were dispatched to the area. The house's inhabitants were an 87 year old man named Thormorin Crawford and his caregiver. While the fire fighters were attempting to evacuate the individuals, one of them noticed a chest with a note attached to the front. The note read: "Box of Memories." The fire fighter then saved the box from the fire presuming it was valuable to the owner.

Thormorin Crawford was taken to the hospital after inhaling a heavy amount of smoke. He died there shortly afterwards. The fire fighter who had saved the box decided to open it. Inside of the box were two items. There was a picture of Thormorin Crawford's grandchildren and SCP-XXXX. The fire fighter read SCP-XXXX which caused SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties to manifest.

I can't read this stuff!" After subject finished page eight, he was instructed to go to the next page. After approximately one second of reading page nine, the subject immediately dropped SCP-XXXX and entered into a state of distress. Subject began convulsing and babbling incoherently for thirty seconds. Subject terminated.
