A WWI Tank - ONISTF1

Object class: Euclid Keter

Containment Protocol:
SCP-[TANK] is currently contained on-site at the Bovington Tank Musuem, in Leads, England. Due to the relatively static nature of SCP-[TANK], containment is not an issue. Research into containment methods is currently on-going (see Addendum [TANK]-C).

Description:
SCP-[TANK] is an ordinary British Mk IV (male) tank, of the same type and configuration that was used in the later years of the First World War. SCP-[TANK]'s anomalous properties appear only when a book or other written material is left inside its interior. If the material is a work of science fiction, the SCP's interior will change to match that of the most advanced, human-made armored vehicle in the book. The SCP's weaponry and defenses will also adapt to match that present in the text. SCP-[TANK]'s outward appearance, however, will remain unchanged. SCP-[TANK]'s anomalous properties will only manifest if the material is a work of science fiction. Attempts to achieve the same results with fantasy or historical fiction novels have proven unsuccessful. A request to use alternative history novels in testing is pending.

The anomalous properties will not manifest unless the material is left in the tank for at least 24 hours, upon which the tank's interior will self-alter. Observation of the transformation has proven difficult, as any electronics placed in the vehicle cease to function roughly one minutes before the transformation occurs. Attempts to use D-class personnel have also proven unsuccessful, as all test subjects have lost consciousness roughly one minute prior to the transformation occurring. Post-experiment interviews with D-class personnel revealed evidence of post-traumatic stress syndrome, with many subjects reporting disturbing dreams, typically of corpse-strewn battlefields and ruined towns, often filled with the corpses of people known to the subject. All attempts to remove the test materials during manifestation have failed.

Addendum [Tank]-A:
Due to the incident on //**, no novel containing an artificial intelligence hostile to human existence is to be placed inside SCP-[TANK] for any reason. Any and all materials to be left inside SCP-[Tank] must be thoroughly reviewed and authorized by O5 personnel. Any breach of this protocol will result in immediate termination.

Addendum [TANK]-B:
Following a containment breach on //**, which resulted in ** Foundation and ** civilian casualties, no novel containing an artificial intelligence hostile to human existence may be used in testing. Any and all printed materials to be used in testing must be reviewed by O5 personnel. Failure to comply will result in immediate termination.

Addendum [TANK]-C:
SCP-[TANK] has proven to be indestructible. While its exterior can be damaged or penetrated, no damage will be evident on the interior, even if the SCP's armor is penetrated on both sides. Additionally, any damage taken will be instantly repaired at 1100 hours, even if no transformation has taken place. SCP-[TANK] can be dissembled as thoroughly as any other Mark IV tank, though any parts removed will instantly revert to their original position at 1100 hours, even if no transformation has occurred. Even parts placed inside other extra-dimensional SCPs will revert to their original position on SCP-[TANK]. SCP-[TANK] can be disabled, however, this is entirely dependent on the level of technology demonstrated by human armored vehicles in the materials left inside.

Addendum [TANK]-D:
Neither Dr. Bright, nor any materials approved by Dr. Bright, are allowed within 100 meters of SCP-[Tank] UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
