Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4122 is currently planted at the center of a hedge maze at Site ██. The hedge maze is moderately randomized on a day by day basis by a mechanical system that runs directly underneath the courtyard and maze. Only one path to the center of the maze has been provided due to the possibility of abusing SCP-4122 as it can potentially be a cognito-hazard. The Site Director and current 05 Council Members are the only personnel with direct access to the maze map with neither being allowed to actively enter the maze with the purpose of acquiring SCP-4122-02 unless authorized by an additional 05 Council Member.

It is advised that facility personnel not be present in the courtyard when this randomization takes place as it may lead to them being maimed or killed unintentionally.

Description: SCP-4122 is an apple tree that originated in Iraq, north east of Baghdad. The foundation first learned of SCP-4122 in 20— near the end of the second gulf war when a United States drone unit watched members of ████ terror group attack a village built around a small orchard. Although the terror group quickly over-ran the village burning homes and the apple trees one tree, SCP-4122, remained standing and unburnt. The tree itself is roughly 32 feet high by 16 feet wide. It is a standard Malus sieversii however it appears that only a total of 8 apples grow on it a year. [Please refer to Addendum 1 for details on the recovery process of SCP-4122 and Addendum 2 for a complete list of items, vehicles and expenses accrued.]

However the apple tree itself isn’t the primary focus of intrigue. The apples, or SCP-4122-02, have a distinct ability to grant memories or knowledge. This newly attained knowledge is granted by having a subject eat the apple, which is noted to be bitter in flavor, and partially digest it followed by waiting roughly 12 to 19 minutes before the subject violently vomits their stomach content. Following this a quill pen can be found alongside the subjects stomach content, with no trace of the apple being present. After extensive testing as to what the purpose of the pen was Dr.[Redacted] found that by writing a question the individual whose quill pen was used to write the question would receive an answer to that question. Limitations to this are still being occasionally tested under supervision by the Site Director and at least one member of the 05 Council.

Addendum 1:
Satellite Observation of the village was maintained for the next 7 months until MTF units Epsilon-6 and Theta-4 were dispatched to the location to try and take samples from the tree along with applying amnestics to locals in the region who came to see if the tree had actually remained standing after the assault.

Theta-4 quickly realized that the bark of SCP-4122 was incredibly dense and although they applied nearly 480,000 newtons worth of force via a modified jaws of life device borrowed from local Site ██ it appeared that removal of the bark for sampling was close to impossible. However it should be noted that removal of Apples, leaves and several of the smaller branches did not prove to be as difficult.

With all the previous in mind Dr.[Redacted]still believed it to be wise to remove the tree from the region as its presence and our own had only attracted more attention from the locals and Dr.[Redacted] believed leaving the tree in Iraq would cause it to acquire a cult like following thus leading to continued destabilization of the region and advised the Director of Site ██. that this could be avoided and could be done relatively cost efficiently; thus began a 2 month project to excavate SCP-4122 and move it to site ██.

Addendum 2:
$8,000 [Redacted] Brand Hydraulic Excavator.(Hydraulic compressor exploded due to continued stress injuring 1 D-Class Personnel and 2 Nine-Tailed Fox Personnel)
$143,000 medical expenses for the 2 injured Nine-Tailed Fox.

$680,000 Plasma Cutters, variety of brands and nitrogen, argon and some oxygen gas canisters for refuelling. Some of the roots from the tree ran much deeper than anticipated and the price of cutting through them, with the help of Epsilon-9, was more valuable than wasting our time digging deeper.
$2,000 for shovels and other gardening tools to more accurately dig around the roots.
Overall expenses, not including loss of life due to local militia attacks was roughly $100,833,000.

Addendum 3: After Dr.[Redacted] wrote "What does SCP-096 look like" into a D-Class subjects memories, causing SCP-096 to break containment, further testing of the apples and access to the tree where strictly prohibited. Before Dr.[Redacted]had her credentials removed and placed under several rounds of intense amnestics for breaking protocol she found that you could remove info hazards from a subject by writing them out of the subjects memories. Specifically //"Remove any memory or knowledge of SCP-096."\\ It was found that apart from the deaths of several personnel at temporary containment site ██ that SCP-096 became non-combative once the knowledge of SCP-096 was removed. Furthermore Dr.[Redacted] continued to break protocol by writing a memetic hazard into 3 D-Class Personnel. Specifically SCP-904 was added to the D-Class personnels memories which resulted in 2 Nine Tailed Fox deaths, 1 D-Class Personnel death followed by Dr.[Redacted] writing the memetic memory out of the 2 remaining D-Class Personnels memories. Site staff present for this breach claim that the D-Class Personnel were momentarily cured of SCP-904 before being re-infected. Nine Tailed Fox enacted a complete lockdown of the facility for approximately 2 hours to assure that 904 would not break containment further.

Addendum 4:
Special accommodations may be made when acquiring SCP-4122-02 when site personnel or D-Class Personnel have encountered a cognito-hazard, memetic-hazard or info-Hazard which may pose a threat to the entire site. The personnel affected should already have their quill pens in the hands of Nine Tailed Fox who will simultaneously write out a removal of the cognito-hazard from the affected personnel memories.
