The place where the basket containing the items was found
Item #: SCP-5958
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP - 5958 is to be kept in a large steel safe, approximately that is fire resistant, and blast proof. The dimensions of the safe are 11 1/4" in length, and in width; The height is 11 1/2". The safe is locked with a 4-digit passcode that is only known by Dr. Kali and Cease Malentine. SCP-5958 is to be guarded inside a small storage room, at Site 15, with security cameras overviewing the safe 24/7. If the safe were to be opened for an unknown reason, OPERETA-1 Support located inside the facility during that time must be deployed to that area inside Site 15 and to re-secure the safe and its contents. SCP-5958-1 must be terminated immediately afterwards for safety reasons.
Description: SCP-5958 is a leather journal (8" x 6") and is located inside a small, hand-woven wooden basket (8 3/4" x 8 3/4" x 5") that contains 1 other item of similarity. A black metal quill. Analysis of all 2 items contained inside the basket concludes that the journal is the most prominent of the 2, and the quill has no affect on anything. Anyone to come into contact with SCP-5958, and to open and read the writings found inside the journal should be terminated as soon as possible upon immediate notice.
SCP-5958 activates 6 seconds after SCP-5958-1 has opened the first page of SCP-5958, and read it. 6 seconds after SCP-5958-1 has opened the journal and read what was inside, they begin to feel signs of a mild fever, and fatigue. The individual repeats for the rest of the day, that they "can see opereta coming for them." They repeat this every minute, no matter what activity they are participating in. When they are sent to bed, they beg the site security to help them escape from "Opereta." There are still undergoing investigations of what Opereta is and how it is involved.
They are escorted to a bed located inside the facility and recorded for documentation at around 9 PM at night. Around 6 AM, when SCP-5958-1 has not woken up yet from sleep, they begin to shake rapidly during their sleep, with facial expressions showing anger, and fear. SCP-5958-1 begins showing signs of a stroke, even if SCP-5958-1 is perfectly healthy, and in good condition. 1-6 minutes after this begins, SCP-5958-1's heart stops, and dies in their sleep.
SCP-5958-1 will find a path to the nearest living human in any vicinity, and seem to do everything in their power to terminate SCP-5859-2. When SCP-5859-2 tries to terminate SCP-5859-1, the harm that they cause unaffected SCP-5859-1 no matter what they used. After SCP-5859-2 has been terminated, SCP-5859-1 will lie on the ground, and officially leave the state of mind they are in, and die.
