Scientist's Dream

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX should be kept in a 10 meter by 10 meter by 5 meter containment room. A vacuum should be maintained when not in use. Any personnel wishing to test on SCP-XXXX-1 must submit a report to at least three (3) Level-3 or higher personnel at least ten (10) days in advance.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be white, 3 strand nylon string. It is stored on a cardboard spool, designated SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1, when uncoiled from SCP-XXXX-2, gives no resistance to motion, and will not change the value read on any scale, regardless of the volume of string used. (See Addendum XXXX-01) SCP-XXXX-2 appears to be able to generate as much of SCP-XXXX-1 as needed, with no apparent change in the amount of SCP-XXXX-1 coiled around itself. It is currently unknown how SCP-XXXX-2 generates SCP-XXXX-1, however since SCP-XXXX-1 is massless, it does not seem to violate conservation of mass.

SCP-XXXX-3 is a pulley that appears to be made of metal, joined to a metal axle to an adjustable clamp. When used with SCP-XXXX-1 or ordinary string, the pulley will not resist movement and will move at the same rate as the attached string. When no string is used, the pulley will spin as long as it is not influenced. (See Addendum XXXX-02)

SCP-XXXX-4 is a black table, approximately 1 meter by 1.5 meters, and is supported by four wooden table legs, which do not seem to have any form of attachment to SCP-XXXX-4 but are firmly attached nonetheless. Any object placed on SCP-XXXX-4 will retain its horizontal velocity until it reaches one of the sides of SCP-XXXX-4. All attempts to visualize the surface of SCP-XXXX-4, including eyesight, conventional microscope, scanning electron microscope, and [have resulted in uniform blackness Attempts to take samples of SCP-XXXX-4 have been unsuccessful A 1 millimeter horizontal sheet of SCP-XXXX-4 has been removed, now called SCP-XXXX-5. SCP-XXXX-5 has an inertial mass of 3.56 kilograms, but will register as approximately 3.63kg on any gravity based scale. SCP-XXXX-5 appears to have no terminal velocity. (See Addendum XXXX-03)

SCP-XXXX was seized from ███████ █████ facilities on █/██/20██. The existence of SCP-XXXX was determined by its mention in many documents released by ███████ █████. These objects were supposedly used by ███████ █████ personnel to confirm calculations for the ██ ███████ test. It is unknown how ███████ █████ created these objects.

Addendum XXXX-01:
Approximately █ km of SCP-XXXX-1 was unraveled from SCP-XXXX-2 and cut off. During the process, the amount of SCP-XXXX-1 coiled around SCP-XXXX-2 did not appear to change. The length of SCP-XXXX-1 was placed in a large bin resting on a .0001 g scale. The scale read a difference of -19.3918 grams. The experiment was repeated in a vacuum chamber, and no change in the value of the scale was observed.

This length was used to suspend 2 metric tons of steel from a height of 100 meters. SCP-XXXX-1 showed no sign of strain and did not have any measurable change in length when supporting the weight.

Addendum XXXX-02:
SCP-XXXX-3 was spun at approximately 0.003 rpm and observed for ███ days. SCP-XXXX-3 showed no sign of decelerating during the observation period.

Addendum XXXX-03:
SCP-XXXX-5 was dropped from a Foundation helicopter over ██████, Nevada at a height of 7 km, with a tracking device tied on with a length of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-5 uniformly accelerated at 10 meters per second squared until it reached the ground at a velocity of ███ meters per second, approximately 2█ times larger than the expected largest velocity. SCP-XXXX-5 was retrieved from the resulting crater with no apparent damage with SCP-XXXX-1 still attached. The tracking device was destroyed with the force expected from an impact at ███ meters per second.
