Opie Brezhnev

Item#: SCP- XXXX

Object class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP- XXXX is to be held within a locked observation room and contained inside a glass case. Video feed of the room should be recorded to monitor any possible change in the artifact. Cleaning should be done weekly by D-class personnel under supervision of observing staff. The artifact is not dangerous. Recommendation is to keep it in some place for all to enjoy such as common areas or near entrances into the facility.

Containment procedure update: Containment of the artifact within the facility has grossly been understated, but in its current state does not need to be edited due to circumstances. Containment of site [REDACTED] will be to relocate the plot to a controlled observation post far beneath the surface of the Red Sea. The only access to the site will be through ferry by way of submarine. Containment of area from locals will be a simple warning of dangerous water born algae in the area in tandem with regular patrols redirecting boats within a 15-mile radius.

Updated containment for relocation of SCP- XXXX will be to keep the artifact inside a fully concealed steel container which will have a single window for observation purposes. The window can be removed with the combined key card of two Class A officials and one O-5 administrator/ directly approved proxy when direct contact is required with SCP- XXXX. To further prevent any continued interaction with the object beyond necessary research SCP- XXXX will be to relocate the artifact monthly to new sites, with a single instance of SCP- XXXX-2, to be used as a kill switch in the case of a suspected outbreak. (for details on how to use the specimen see Experiment A)

Containment of the companion instance of SCP- XXXX-2 will be heavy sedation of the specimen to remain in a semi-comatose state inside a holding cell guarded in 10 hour shifts as well as a corresponding doctor to maintain the drug regiment on the same shift rotation.

Description: SCP- XXXX is a large crystalline structure shaped like a humanoid entity in a fetal position. The the object is modeled after a human male 180cm tall and 80kg, but the true weight of the artifact fluctuating between 40kg and 130kg. the crystal has been determined to be made of a type of amber, with a soft red glow within the torso. The hardness of the crystal is well beyond that of traditional amber, requiring significant force to break a piece off. Any broken off parts will disappear, and reattach within 24 hours. The glow has no point of origin and does not seem to remain still within the object. Upon further inspection of the structure, it seems to be completely inanimate except for the glow which seems to follow the viewer as they move around the object.

When touched, the red begins to amplify and the image of a face in immense emotional despair begins to form in the center of the red light. If the subject touching the structure looks into the eyes of the face, the entire structure will turn black. After turning black, the subject will collapse into a comatose state for approximately 15 minutes. After waking up, the subject henceforth classified as SCP- XXXX-2 will appear to be unaffected except for a slightly happier demeanor.
Following a 24-hour period, an instance of SCP- XXXX-2 will begin to show signs of increased intelligence, mood, and confidence. Disassociation of their past-self prior to contact with SCP- XXXX, by referring to themselves as separate people or even going as far as to refusing to acknowledge they even existed before their “awakening”.

This artifact is of substantial importance and should be treated with extreme care. It’s uses are limitless and those it selects as being worthy of its grace should be granted necessary access to work on another subject seeing as they can [REDACTED]. Data beyond this point in the original report is no longer reliable as being objective. If only that were the whole truth.

No further investigation needed at this time. Object class determined to be Safe, with possible advantages to the foundation being explored.
-Doctor Brezhnev

Addendum: The initial findings on SCP- XXXX have been determined to be flawed and incorrect due to error and incompetence of the on-site staff. Doctor Brezhnev has been [REDACTED] following his blatant breach of protocol to take advantage of the subject and attempt to cease further long-term research into SCP- XXXX and instances of SCP- XXXX-2 for his own personal gain. Further investigation and containment has been authorized by O-5 personnel.
Following observation of the initial short-term effects of SCP- XXXX and it’s the power granted to those who come into contact with it, high ranking personnel within the facility began to also come into contact with it seeking personal gain from it. What followed would appear to be a breakdown of conventional ranking among those working at site [REDACTED] instead opting to work seamlessly as a cohesive unit. Forming a pact that began to pressure others into coming into contact with SCP- XXXX as well. By the time the bi-monthly rotation of D-class personnel (initial discovery of the incident in question) came around, nearly everyone has become an instance of SCP- XXXX-2. The entire site was immediately contained to prevent instances of SCP- XXXX-2 from leaving the facility. Further experimentation and observation will be done through a council of off-site scientist under direct supervision of Class A officials. All in person interaction with the subjects will be done by an MTF unit of those selected specifically in mind for their impressive personal will power. Obedience to their masters.

Observation 4472.1: Average IQ of all staff at site [REDACTED] has been raised substantially. After multiple interviews with instances of SCP-XXXX-2 it was determined that their collective minds were smart enough to have evaded containment if they so desired, and are essentially voluntarily being held captive noted by one subject

“It’s understandable that upon your discovery of what we did that you would try to contain us and study our newfound genius. It’s the most logical course of action. After brother Brezhnev showed us [DATA EXPUNGED] we all determined that this would happen. We mean you no harm, and as a sign of good grace we agreed to allow you to keep us here once we were found out.”

Following this interaction, containment was more to keep out, thank to keep in with on site personnel regularly cooperating and submitting to “the formalities” as they called them of investigation into long term effects and proper study of SCP- XXXX.

All database editing from site [REDACTED] has been restricted to inter-facility changes to prevent possible edits made to this file. (Unsuccessfully)

Observation 4472.2: It appears instances of SCP- XXXX-2 begin to develop a greater disdain for their past selves as time progresses. Reminders or references to past events prior to their “awakening” cause increased emotional unrest and aggression. This is the only known Conduit for this type of behavior in the otherwise docile and composed group. This reaction seems to be infectious among instances of SCP- XXXX-2 as any other specimen in the immediate area will also fall into a fit of rage. All aggression is exclusively directed at the source of the initial instigator. The coordination of the attack is almost hive-mind in nature sparking further investigation into [DATA EXPUNGED].

It seems that prolonged exposure to the affliction of SCP- XXXX begin to cause side-effects of involuntary actions or movements. Such side-effects include a clutching motion onto a specimen’s own body pulling at their clothes seemingly reacting to a pain stimulus. All such actions will be denied having happened by the specimen. Other side-effects include tears streaming down the eyes, nystagmus, disproportionate atrophy, [REDACTED], and what would appear to be an involuntary aversion to mirrors causing them to reflexively avoid any reflection of themselves.

Experiment A: When an instance of SCP- XXXX-2 is forcefully exposed to a mirror, the specimen will begin to panic and begin speaking to themselves in a remorseful tone repeatedly referencing an undisclosed crime they claim to have committed. The only crime committed is forcing them to be subject to such inhumane treatment.

In the mirror, lies a reflection of the specimen seemingly crying, afraid, and unable to speak that does not match their current presentation. The reflection will begin violently grasping at themselves in a fit of hysteria while making direct eye contact with any subject present in the room with an instance of SCP- XXXX-2. Direct eye contact with the reflection will cause intense dread and despair within the viewer, resulting in them haveing overwhelming urges to smash the mirror. If the mirror is broken while containing a reflection of an instance of SCP- XXXX-2, the specimen will freeze in place and become a duplicate of SCP- XXXX. All remaining instances of SCP- XXXX-2 under the influence of their respective original host will collapse in to a fetal position stuck in perpetual fit of hysteria unaware of their surroundings, only interrupted their cries to interject that they are trapped and repeating a common phrase of “that’s not me”. All attempts to rehabilitate an instance of SCP- XXXX-2 in this state have been unsuccessful.

Following experiment A, multiple world leaders and leading scientist such as [DATA EXPUNGED] have been found to have had complete mental breakdowns and are now being relocated to [REDACTED].

It is unclear if multiple copies of SCP- XXXX beyond the two current entities exist. Further investigation required. You’ll never find them all.

The duplicate SCP- XXXX has been confiscated by O-5 personnel for personal testing.

Additional notes:
- Mirrors do not influence SCP- XXXX

- The face within the copy of SCP- XXXX seems to be of the specimen from experiment A

- it is speculated but unclear if the aversion to mirrors and subsequent reaction when exposed was genuine, or if it the formation of a second SCP- XXXX was the true intent.
