Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Due to their harmless nature, no special containment procedures are needed for SCP-XXXX items beyond current storage in a 1 m x 1.5 m room that formerly served as a janitor's closet. Subjects are granted permission to visit its containment room whenever wished, as long as they are accompanied by at least one other individual.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is a Blu-ray® disc of The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, physically identical to the officially manufactured variant of the disc. For convenience, SCP-XXXX-1 is normally kept operating within SCP-XXXX-2, which is a Blu-ray® player currently hooked up to a Samsung® 90 cm x 52 cm flatscreen TV referred to as SCP-XXXX-3.

The contents of the film displayed are within the same universe as Simba's Pride and feature the same characters. However, the events of the story seem to be set sometime following the end of the original film. The characters appear to behave identically to how they were portrayed in the original source material. A notable exception is the character of Nuka, who was a secondary antagonist in the film and died midway through the story. In the story of SCP-XXXX-1, Nuka is alive and seems to be reformed of his past evil nature, while keeping his basic personality traits.

SCP-XXXX-1 has continued to display these post-film events for far longer than should be physically possible on a Blu-ray® disc, and there seems to be no foreseeable limit as to exactly how long the film can continue in this manner. Playing of SCP-XXXX-1 can only be interrupted by ejecting the disc from SCP-XXXX-2 or shutting off power to the disc player. After SCP-XXXX-1 is re-inserted, events return to where the story left off before interruption.

SCP-XXXX-4 refers to a 58 cm x 52 cm x 99 cm violet-gray La-Z-Boy® recliner. When a subject places themselves on the seat of SCP-XXXX-4 as the film is in progress, a connection is made between them and a selected character appearing at the time of physical contact with the chair. The subject can then only communicate through the character, speaking in the character's own voice. The subject's body planted on SCP-XXXX-4 remains silent and motionless during this time, and connection can only be broken if another individual lifts them off from the seat of SCP-XXXX-4.

There seems to be no correlation between subject and character selected, as the process appears to be entirely random. Individual subjects have taken control of both male and female characters. No more than one character can be controlled at any given time, as the seat of SCP-XXXX-4 only allows for one occupant at once.

While the subject is in control of a character, they see themselves in the character's body and within the world of the film, which is referred to as SCP-XXXX-5. During this state, subjects will still be able to detect the spatial arrangement of the room their outside body remains in and any lifeforms within its confines, making eye contact with and responding to any individuals attempting to communicate with them. Subjects, however, do not have the ability to detect the presence of their own body or any of the physical SCP-XXXX items during this state. Furthermore, no conclusive evidence has been uncovered as to how exactly subjects detect the arrangement of objects and beings in the room from the confines of SCP-XXXX-5.

The characters that subjects can communicate with are referred to as specific instances of SCP-XXXX-6, and include the following:

  • SCP-XXXX-6-A is the designation given to the character of Simba, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-B is the designation given to the character of Nala, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-C is the designation given to the character of Kiara, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-D is the designation given to the character of Kovu, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-E is the designation given to the character of Nuka, for the most part as portrayed in Simba's Pride, aside from its apparent reformed nature and his status as alive.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-F is the designation given to the character of Vitani, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-G was the designation given to the character of Zira, currently marked as deceased, as is her counterpart in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-H is the designation given to the character of Timon, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-I is the designation given to the character of Pumbaa, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-J is the designation given to the character of Rafiki, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.
  • SCP-XXXX-6-K is the designation given to the character of Zazu, as portrayed in Simba's Pride.

The SCP-XXXX-6 instance being controlled loses consciousness at the time of connection, with awareness immediately regained after connection is broken. SCP-XXXX-6 instances will sense if one of them is being controlled, but do not seem to display any adverse reactions to these situations and are, in fact, aware of their fictional nature. They explained that the individual who first discovered SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects, ███████ ██████, brought this information to their knowledge during her time spent in SCP-XXXX-5. Afterwards, SCP-XXXX-6-G fell into a deep state of depression as a result of its knowledge, and eventually committed suicide by drowning itself in a nearby body of water. The others presumably learned to accept this newfound awareness of their nature.

Discovery: Knowledge of SCP-XXXX items and their anomalous properties came to Foundation personnel on 12/29/2012 when Foundation member ████████ ███████ reported having found his sister ███████ ██████ sitting on SCP-XXXX-4 and inside SCP-XXXX-5 in control of SCP-XXXX-6-F. Field agents were promptly sent to retrieve all four items. When interrogated after recovery, ███████ explained that she encountered the items and was then transported to SCP-XXXX-5 after sitting on SCP-XXXX-4, taking control of SCP-XXXX-6-K. She remained inside the world until the aforementioned discovery by ████████. As mentioned above, she was the individual who first brought the truth of the SCP-XXXX-6 instances' fictional nature to their knowledge. Because of the emotional bond she developed with them during her time inside SCP-XXXX-5, she requested to not be given amnestics. This request was hesitantly granted.
