Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained within the Site-48 special outdoor containment area. Outdoor containment area is to be 8 miles² and is to be heavily masked to prevent SCP-XXXX from knowing it is captive. Two deer (Or wild game of similar size) are to be released into the containment area per week. Thermal scans are to be done once every 12 hours to ensure SCP-XXXX is still within the boundaries. Research on SCP-XXXX may only be performed by personnel with level 4 access or above. Should SCP-XXXX escape containment Mobile Task Force Omicron-3 (Cat Callers) will be dispatched to find the active instance.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a virus currently believe to be infecting 98% of the Felidae family of mammals. The virus remains dormant in all but one host, this active host is hence SCP-XXXX-1. While active the host will exhibit strength similar to a mountain lion (specifically noted to be puma concolor) and a degree of intelligence above the average species. SCP-XXXX-1 will slowly adopt features of an unknown creature theorized to be the originator of the SCP-XXXX including distended fore and hind legs, elongated canines, and long hairless tail. Changes often take around 4 years from initial activation of the virus. SCP-XXXX-1 will roam an area it designates as its territory killing anything it considers prey, it shows a high degree of aggression towards people and will prioritize attacking humans to hunting. Despite it's unnatural appearance SCP-XXXX-1 is often no more dangerous than the average mountain lion.

SCP-XXXX-1 despite being an animal is capable of understanding its own captivity, if it realizes it is being imprisoned will attempt to end its own life. This results in the virus becoming active in another specimen and the "Life-cycle" of SCP-XXXX-1 restarting. A newly active host will remain just as dangerous as a fully grown SCP-XXXX-1 and so recovery is to be an immediate priority. Upon escape the landscape of the outdoor containment area is to be changed and remade so upon release into the environment SCP-XXXX-1 will be unable to identify its previous incarceration.

The first instance of SCP-XXXX-1 was discovered in ████ after reports from locals in the ██████ region of █████ reported a bizarre wild cat roaming the area attacking livestock and killing people who got too close. The foundation captured and detained SCP-XXXX-1 and kept it locked in a standard wild animal containment pen before SCP-XXXX-1 expired. Similar reports arrived and the nature of SCP-XXXX was closer examined leading to current containment procedures.

Addendum: The current host of SCP-XXXX-1 is an orange tabby found in ██████ on █████. The host was found upon its attacking and fatally wounding of a police officer who had come to check on the family that lived on the property. SCP-XXXX-1 was tranquilized and transported to Site-48. SCP-XXXX-1 remains small in size and has yet to undergo major bodily change.
