Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a Class A Wall-Mounted safe while not under examination. Access is forbidden to personal without level 3 clearance and termination is authorized for anyone attempting to utilize SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties without prior permission from respective authorities.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a box made of black metal, measuring 330.2mm long, 190.5mm wide and 76.2mm in height. On the top are 5 small red lights, 3 of which are currently turned on, and a large hopper. No attempts have been made so far to open it over fears of damaging it. It is unknown where it receives the power to maintain the lights.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous abilities manifest when a human heart suitable for transplant is placed into the hopper at the top of SCP-XXXX. If a suitable heart is placed into the hopper, a loud grinding noise will be heard as the heart enters the box, and a single light will turn on. Any attempts to trick SCP-XXXX by giving it a substitute heart which was either artificially synthesized, not suitable for a transplant or from an animal have failed.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was located in █████████, ████ when a man identified as Johnathen Dour was found dead in his apartment with SCP-XXXX. He was found with multiple deep lacerations in his chest, currently believed to be self-inflicted with a knife in an attempt to gain access to his own heart.

+ Testing Log 001

**Test 001 **

Subject: D-520162
Procedure: The heart will be removed from a subject that has been deceased for approximately 24 hours without any medical intervention to preserve the organs, and placed into SCP-XXXX.
Results: Upon receiving the heart, SCP-XXXX began to violently shake, and continued this behaviour for approximately 33 seconds, at which point it returned to normal. No change in the state of the lights were observed.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX is able to differentiate between hearts suitable for transplant into living organisms and those which are not. This suggests some level of sentience, although to what degree has not yet been identified.

**Test 002 **

Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure: SCP-XXXX will be given a heart that was artificially grown inside of a laboratory that is biologically identical to a natural one, and has never been previously used for transplant.
Results: SCP-XXXX reacted the same as during Test 001, however the shaking persisted for 54 seconds this time.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX is able to tell if a heart is naturally grown or not, and will react accordingly. This either suggests a form of intellect, or another anomalous property we are not aware of. Further testing necessary to determine more about this property.

  **Test 003 **

  Subject: SCP-XXXX
  Procedure: A reinforced wireless camera was lowered into SCP-XXXX in an effort to find out what was inside of it without damaging it.
  Results: The camera successfully survived entry into SCP-XXXX, and also managed to maintain connection to the server for a brief period. It detected a gentle throbbing of what seemed to be a heart, but it was unable to be confirmed since the camera was pressed up against what seemed to be a pile of organs of some kind. After approximately 5 seconds an object resembling an eyeball emerged from the guts, facing them camera. Connection was lost to the camera approximately 5 seconds after the object manifested.

  At this point SCP-XXXX began to shake violently, and blood began to seep from the seams in its casing, which lasted approximately 30 seconds before everything returned to normal. Tests done on the blood have been inconclusive, not matching any existing records. Further analysis of the blood is nessecary.

  Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems to display some form of sentience, as seen from the fact it was able to detect the fact we were observing it from within and it acting accordingly. In light of this revelation a request has been filed for a temporary halt to all testing on SCP-XXXX while we make sense of what happened and its implications.
