Item #: RPC-XXX
Object Class: Alpha
Special Containment Procedures: RPC-XXX is to be contained in a humanoid containment cell modified to accommodate pregnancies. RPC-XXX is to be administered the care to pertinent to a typical comatose patient, and a typical pregnant patient. New instances of RPC-XXX-A are to be analyzed, catalogued1, and evaluated shortly after birth. Once these procedures have been fulfilled, birthed instances of RPC-XXX-A shall either be incinerated or kept for further study at the discretion of Dr. Osmond Dr. Reposh.
Description: RPC-XXX is a middle aged Caucasian female that is currently in a comatose state, and has been for an indeterminate period. RPC-XXX's body shows signs of past narcotics abuse. RPC-XXX has been identified as Carla ███████, a resident of ██████, KY. Carla was admitted to the ██████ county hospital in ██/██/1978 and resided in the maternity ward for over 8 months before Foundation apprehension and stabilization. Approximately every 6 months an instance of RPC-XXX-A will manifest within the womb of RPC-XXX. The "gestation period" for RPC-XXX-A lasts for 6 months, with a 3 day pause before the subsequent conception of the next instance.
Ultrasound image of RPC-XXX-A16.
Instances of RPC-XXX-A appear to be a disembodied adult Caucasian male human head, possessing a beard. These instances lack any vertebrae, and possess a vestigial esophagus and windpipe that both terminate within the head. During gestation, SCP-1263-A receives nutrients from RPC-XXX through an umbilical cord connected to its basilar artery. In the third month of gestation tests have shown near constant brain activity in RPC-XXX-A specimens. Ultrasounds have shown late term RPC-XXX-A opening and moving its eyes, displaying distressed and erratic behavior, and attempting to form words.
The only recorded movement of RPC-XXX is during the birthing period. Once an instance of RPC-XXX-A is born, RPC-XXX reverts to inactivity.
When passively observed, RPC-XXX-A instances will survive after birth until the residual nutrition within the placenta deteriorates, at which point they will invariably die of malnutrition, usually after a period of ~90 seconds. Birthed RPC-XXX-A instances are fully aware of their surroundings, and will make eye contact with researchers and respond to stimulus. RPC-XXX-A will bite if provoked. These organisms cannot speak, as they lack lungs and vocal chords.
Addendum XXX-01:
Despite instances of RPC-XXX-A having little quality of life and being of diminishing value to research, we must continue to adequately nourish RPC-XXX to perform healthy births. Its health is already somewhat poor, and if RPC-XXX suffered further malnourishment it would likely perish. Furthermore, the heads are piling up, and I am running out of things to do with them. I hereby request permission to re-introduce deceased instances of RPC-XXX-A as a component of RPC-XXX's intravenous regimen.
-Dr. Osmond
Granted.
-Dr. ███████
Addendum XXX-02:
RPC-XXX-A has been identified as the disembodied head of Gregory ███████, the uncle of Carla ███████. Mr. ███████ had been incarcerated in ██/██/1974 for kidnapping and sexual assault. Four years into his sentence, and five months before Carla's admittance to the hospital, he perished in prison from massive head trauma. Prison reports say that Gregory inexplicably lost consciousness when ascending a flight of stairs, and fractured his cranium when he fell to the floor.
Addendum XXX-03:
A freshly birthed RPC-XXX-A45 was addressed by the name "Gregory ███████", and reacted with marked surprise. It continued to make motions of shouting and frustration until exhausting itself, and subsequently perishing from malnutrition.
Birthed instances following this development react with similar surprise, and it is currently assumed that individual instances of RPC-XXX-A do not retain the memories of previous instances.
Addendum XXX-04:
Experiments in mechanically oxygenating and enriching the blood of birthed SCP-1263-A have proven successful. None have yet survived long enough to see the birth of another instance. Communication was achieved upon the implantation of an electrolarynx in a stabilized subject.
Interview Log
RPC-XXX-A52:Holy fucking hell, it felt like I was suffocating in there for months! I didn't know if I was dreamin' or stuck in a hole or what. Where y'all got me now? Is this the psyche ward?
Dr. Osmond: We'll get to that. Is your name Gregory ███████?
RPC-XXX-A52: Dammit, y'all know my name! I'm in your system. I only been here four years, y'all should know me by now.
Dr. Osmond: I just need to confirm it. Is your name Gregory ███████?
RPC-XXX-A52 strains its eyes to look around. It starts becoming very distressed.
RPC-XXX-A52: Aw hell, this ain't the psyche ward. I know what's going on here. Why can't I move? Jamie didn't tell me 'bout no paralyzation.
Dr. Osmond: Who is Jamie? An accomplice? Did he do this to you?
RPC-XXX-A52: Fuck off, spook. You ain't got no right to hold me here! Who do you work for? Get me my lawyer!
Dr. Osmond: I don't think you appreciate your position, Mr. ███████.
End of Log
Considering that instances of RPC-XXX-A must be brought up to speed for each interview, further logs have been edited for brevity.
Dr. Osmond: 1978? Haha, I'm afraid not. Take a look at the date on your chart.
RPC-XXX-A56: 20██?? Christ, man. This whole shitfest was supposed to get me out of prison. Lotta good it done me nearly ten years after my sentence ended. I swear, when I get my hands on Jamie's throat.
Dr. Osmond: Who is this Jamie?
RPC-XXX-A56: Holy fuck, why can't I feel my hands??
RPC-XXX-A57 is lifted to view SCP-1263. It gags.
RPC-XXX-A57: Aw hell, is that Carla? Disgusting.
Dr. Osmond: I can imagine this must be quite disturbing, considering she's your niece.
RPC-XXX-A57: Naw man, she looks like a fuckin' shriveled hag! Ain't even shaved. Makes me wanna pitch my biscuits.
Addendum XXX-05:
After a marked lack of submitted experiment or interview logs, Dr. Osborn was discovered mutilating RPC-XXX-A61. Dr. Osborn has been terminated, with Dr. Reposh serving as his replacement.
