Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a sealed storage locker in Site-17 along with XXXX-01. Personnel with Security Clearance 3 4 may access SCP-XXXX for testing. Any objects attained through XXXX's use that display anomalous properties must be assigned Object Classes of their own and must be contained accordingly. All other objects obtained through the use of SCP-XXXX must be thoroughly tested for dangerous qualities and stored in separate storage lockers accordingly. Personnel with Security Clearance 3 or higher may access these objects for study.

Description: SCP-XXXX was recovered by the Foundation on 6/12/██ in ██████, Michigan, located within a souvenir store. A MTF squad was dispatched following rumours of a store that sold anomalous objects with startling resemblances to similar objects in fictional stories. The store owner was discovered to have been using SCP-XXXX to procure these items for his shop. SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-01, and various other anomalies that had been obtained and/or sold through XXXX's use were contained and Class-A amnesics were distributed.

SCP-XXXX is a pair of black plastic glasses with circular red-plastic lenses set in the frame. Metallic paint has been applied to the lenses in a spiral shape in an apparent attempt to give the impression of hypnosis. A small logo on the right arm of the frame reads "LearningFun Products."

SCP-XXXX-01 is a small manual that was with SCP-XXXX when the Foundation recovered it. It details the use of SCP-XXXX and contains a lengthy list of disclaimers on the last page. Further information on SCP-XXXX-01 can be found in Addendum XXXX-01.

When worn on the face, SCP-XXXX displays no anomalous properties unless the wearer holds a written work of fiction in their hand, in which case the user can allegedly see a doorway, usually located within an already-existing doorway or point of entry (see Testing Log XXXX-01). If the user passes through this doorway, they do not emerge on the other side; instead they enter an as-of-yet unexplored extra-dimensional space.

Descriptions of this space vary depending on the work of fiction held by the user, but all reports agree that it appears to be the world in which the book takes place. The user is able to interact with this world as if they were a part of it by interacting with characters and objects from the story. If the user removes SCP-XXXX while in the extra-dimensional space, they reappear in the pre-existing doorway or point of entry that they passed through to enter the space.

Once they have left, the user will always have the work of fiction they brought somewhere on their person, regardless of whether or not they put it down while in the extra-dimensional space. If the user's actions while wearing SCP-XXXX impact the main story at all, these impacts will be evident in that particular copy of the book, whose story will change depending on the user's actions.
