Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX are to be cultivated in ten one-by-five (1x5) meter planter boxes within an anomalous object containment room at Site-66. SCP-XXXX are to be watered once every two days, and fertilized on a basis consistent to that of ordinary specimens of Daucus Carota subsp. Sativus. They should be harvested and planted again annually.
SCP-XXXX may be given to staff suffering from severe visual impairment with approval from medical and culinary staff. The quantity of SCP-XXXX administered should be based on a patient’s body weight, fitness, and level of visual impairment (ie: 1g. of SCP-XXXX daily per 5 kilograms of body weight). Staff who consume SCP-XXXX should be monitored and halt consumption of SCP-XXXX once their condition is corrected.
All specimens of SCP-XXXX that are used for consumption are to be cooked such that they are killed as to prevent them from being capable of growing out of containment. All excess SCP-XXXX are to be incinerated onsite. No live specimens or pieces of live specimens of SCP-XXXX may be allowed offsite and efforts should be made to prevent SCP-XXXX from growing out of containment.
Description: SCP-XXXX are members of Daucus Carota subsp. Sativus. SCP-XXXX are unusually large, fast growing, and more appealing than is considered normal for their kind. SCP-XXXX has minor memetic properties. Upon consumption of meals containing SCP-XXXX, subjects find said meals to be of better quality. It has been noted that when given the choice between two apparently identical meals, subjects are far more likely to select those containing SCP-XXXX. These effects are observed in all creatures capable of sight.
When an organism consumes SCP-XXXX, visual organs and parts of the brain associated with sight will gradually reverse the process of aging and degradation until they reach peak condition normal for that species. Cataracts and blurry vision disappear over a time period spanning around a week if SCP-XXXX is consumed regularly. More extreme conditions in humans including retinal scarring, blindness, and brain damage to the occipital lobe are shown to heal and eventually disappear with regular long-term consumption of SCP-XXXX.
Continued consumption of SCP-XXXX after sight reaches perfect condition results in undesirable side effects. During experiments, test subjects were found to see colors in the ultraviolet and infrared ranges. Most who gain this ability begin to exhibit signs of epilepsy and suffer from seizures, usually resulting in death. Autopsy shows that the occipital lobe grows considerably and that this additional intracranial pressure often results in brain damage and death.
Brain damage resulting from pressure inside the skull has been linked to erratic behavior and mental abnormalities, though additional anomalous effects are noted. Subjects who survive the brain damage gradually begin to lose sanity and cohesiveness, seeing non-corporeal entities and other visual anomalies. These entities are apparently invisible to artificial detection equipment and the naked eye of those who haven't consumed SCP-XXXX. Subjects who reach this stage display signs of mental instability and will attempt to blind themselves by gouging out their eyes. Communication with them at this point is impossible, as their ability to understand questions is severely impaired. If a question is understood, responses are rarely more than hysterical babbling and crude illustrations of ghost-like entities.

Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Earth's orbital path is to be monitored for new or unusual carbon-based meteoroids or asteroids. Should radio activity be detected coming from a near-Earth or Earthbound asteroid/meteoroid, it is to be designated SCP-XXXX-1. These entities must be monitored such that they can be intercepted upon impact with Earth's surface.
Upon the discovery of an active or inactive instance of SCP-XXXX-2, the affected area must be quarantined. This may be under the guise of public safety if the impact is found in a populated area, or of meteorite study if in an underpopulated area. At this stage of growth, SCP-XXXX-2 is still vulnerable to chemical countermeasures, making eradication manageable with the use of conventional toxins (ie: cyanide, heavy metals). Due to the radically alien biological structures of SCP-XXXX-2, protein-based toxins are relatively harmless to it. The affected area should be razed or otherwise completely destroyed after chemical treatment.
Should an instance of SCP-XXXX-3 be found, the affected area must be destroyed as soon as possible, regardless of quarantine or civilian presence. Conventional explosives and radiation-based weaponry are moderately effective against SCP-XXXX-3, but if an instance grows too fast or is too massive to eradicate in such a manner, nuclear weaponry may be used with the approval of at least one member of the 05 Council. A post-destruction cover story should then be fabricated, likely involving a government nuclear test or terrorist attack.
All instances of SCP-XXXX-3 must be eliminated before reaching coastlines, as SCP-XXXX-3's reaction to and spread through water may be catastrophic, as any significant cover by ocean water would shield SCP-XXXX-3 from nuclear or chemical countermeasures. This would likely result in a complete breach of containment, and massive destruction of coastal areas and marine ecosystems.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a highly invasive alien organism with an unknown but likely non-Solar origin. SCP-XXXX at its earliest stage is found as a radio-wave emitting asteroid or meteoroid largely composed of carbon. At this stage, it is designated SCP-XXXX-1. A spherical metallic capsule (approximately 5 meters in diameter) is embedded under the surface of SCP-XXXX-1, with antennae protruding to the exterior of the rock layer. The radio signals sent from SCP-XXXX-1 follow a clear pattern, but no sense has been made from them. It is considered a high priority that the message be decoded.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are found exclusively on a collision course with Earth. Upon entering Earth's atmosphere, the rocky layer surrounding SCP-XXXX-1 acts as a heat shield that burns up before the central core reaches the surface. Once the surface is reached, SCP-XXXX-1 is designated SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 will shed its metal shell over a course of 1-6 days, revealing a porous, fungus-like mass. This mass is organic and considered alive.
It will gradually sink into the ground through the use of corrosive enzymes and assimilate into the surrounding flora. It will mimic the appearance of local plants, creating structures identical to that of local plants. These structures are false and do not function as they normally would on a plant (leaves do not photosynthesize, flowers produce no nectar or pollen). Testing of SCP-XXXX-2 tissue samples do reveal it has DNA, though this DNA codes for completely alien amino acids and proteins. Other than on a cellular level, SCP-XXXX-2 is indistinguishable from surrounding flora.
SCP-XXXX-2 gradually consumes and replaces surrounding plants until it reaches a critical biomass estimated to be around 2.5 metric tons. Upon reaching this threshold, above-ground structures will shrink under the surface and be reabsorbed by the central mass. At this point, SCP-XXXX-2 will be designated as SCP-XXXX-3.
After all structures have been reabsorbed, SCP-XXXX-3 will rise to the surface as a 20-30 cm. thick yellow mass which spreads out and smothers the ground and nearby plant life. It will photosynthesize and grow mushroom-like fruiting bodies that release infectious spores. These spores lodge themselves in the respiratory systems of animals and on the surface of living organisms, producing highly corrosive, toxic enzymes that kill surrounding lifeforms and corrode structures.
SCP-XXXX-3 aggressively expands outward from its original area at an exponential rate, killing and absorbing all biological matter if left unchecked. It is immune to all known Earth-borne pathogens, resistant to chemical-based countermeasures, and is capable of sustaining a great deal of physical trauma. The corrosive spores are capable of compromising most bio-hazard suits and artificial structures, making them extremely dangerous if left unchecked.
It is as of yet unknown if SCP-XXXX-3 is capable of traversing saltwater bodies, as impacts of SCP-XXXX-1 seem to be exclusive to major landmasses with significant vegetation, and all known instances of SCP-XXXX-3 have been contained before reaching saltwater coastlines. It is predicted, though, that any instance of SCP-XXXX-3 which reaches a major body of water could potentially spread out of control along the ocean floor or floating on the surface.
