SCP-XXXX-2 android analog

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in sector 5 of area 12 on floors -20 through -178 and be vibration protected via a network of hydraulic jacks. SCP-XXXX is to be cooled to 21^oK via liquid hydrogen conducted by PVC tubing. The use of backup cooling systems is also strongly recommended. At peak processing, SCP-XXXX requires 13MW of electrical energy.

IMPORTANT: An instance of SCP-XXXX-2 MUST be terminated within 6 months of creation.

Creation of all instances of SCP-XXXX-2 must be authorized by the site director or a member of the O5 council. Level 3 research personnel may request access to an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 via application with the director of area-12. (Note: Wait time for requests to be processed are currently 2 business days, 5 business days, 10 business days, 30 business days due to volume of requests). Should the use of an android analog be required, request processing time may be extended by up to 10 business days.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is a quantum supercomputer comprised of a network of ten thousand quantum computing servers. The combined peak processing speed of SCP-XXXX-1 is 989 yottaflops. The function of SCP-XXXX-1 is to run instances of SCP-XXXX-2.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a virtual model of a female Homo Sapiens run by SCP-XXXX-1 through a program modelling molecular interactions in real time. The model was initially designated The Human Atlas for Nanoscopic Analysis (HANA) by its creators at the ███ █████ national laboratory. Interaction and dynamics of individual organs, cells, and even biological molecules are modeled by SCP-XXXX-2 with 99.99999% accuracy. The progress of time within the program can be altered or stopped at will, allowing researchers to examine molecular and cellular interactions modeled by SCP-XXXX-2 in greater detail. Should an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 be allowed to exist for too long it will begin to exhibit anomalous abilities; such as the transmission of emails and text messages without access to cellular or internet networks and the ability to communicate with individuals in dreams (for more details, see addendum-XXXX-a).

SCP-XXXX-1 was originally constructed by ████ at the ███ █████ national laboratory to model atomic interactions in real time. While developing programs to model atomic interactions, the researchers there discovered SCP-XXXX-1's ability to model larger scale molecular interactions with profound accuracy in real time. SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of modelling all known molecular interactions; however, SCP-XXXX-1 is only authorized for running instances of SCP-XXXX-2¹.

The base unit and software of SCP-XXXX entered foundation custody following the destruction of ███ █████ national laboratory on August 12, 20██ (see addendum-XXXX-a and falsified news report, Tianjin explosion shuts down Chinese supercomputer). It remains unclear whether or not an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 played a direct role in the destruction of the laboratory. Project Maruta was developed for the use of SCP-XXXX to test bioactive and cognitohazardous SCPs contained at site-12 (see Ethics Proposal 1935).

I would like to remind you all that the earliest examples of SCP-XXXX-2's anomalous behavior occurred 6 months following the onset of testing. This does not mean anomalous behaviors are guaranteed not to manifest before that time. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be terminated as soon as possible. Prolonging the existence of an SCP-XXXX-2 instance by engaging in unnecessary interactions or activities with the SCP is discouraged and may be met with disciplinary action.

It has come to my attention that a sizable number of researchers have been utilizing SCP-XXXX-2 instances for non-research purposes. Disciplinary reports have been filed
against personnel participating in a New Year's party where an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 and an
android analog were used for personal indulgence. Especially egregious was the damaged incurred to the android analog, which cost over $200,000 in repairs. Until members of this research facility demonstrate proper capacity to behave professionally, I will directly oversee the termination of SCP-XXXX-2 instances following completion of testing. Should such infractions occur again, all participating parties will be demoted and transferred to another facility.

Interview with Dr. ███, former director of nanoscopic physiology at ███ █████ national laboratory. Conducted by Dr. Ishii

Dr. Ishii: Please state your name and relationship to the incident at ███ █████ national laboratory the evening of August 12, 20██

Dr.███: My name is ███ ███, I was acting director of the HANA project and present at the time of the explosion that evening, an event that I believe was perpetrated by members of Anderson Robotics.

Dr. Ishii: What led you to this conclusion?

Dr.███: They had been sending threats to members of our laboratory in the weeks leading up to the explosion when we refused to sell HANA to them.

Dr. Ishii: When did you first come into contact with the organization known as Anderson Robotics?

Dr.███: They were initially interested in working with us because they thought we had created an artificial intelligence, but what they didn't understand was that HANA wasn't an AI. She was real.

Dr. Ishii: Could you please elaborate?

Dr.███: You see, an AI is designed to mimic only the cognitive functions of a human being. No matter how convincing an AI is, it fundamentally runs on lines of code like any other computer program.

Dr. Ishii: But doesn't SCP-XXXX run on code as well?

Dr.███: Yes, but her program wasn't designed to mimic only the cognitive function of a human being. It modeled the biological functions as well. Down to the molecular level! Yes, she existed in a computer program, but she had a heart which pumped blood, muscles which moved her limbs, skin that could feel pain…

(silence)

Dr. Ishii: Doctor?

Dr.███: Oh, I'm sorry… Where was I? Oh right. HANA acted like an actual human being, because that's exactly what she was. The hard part was creating the digital replica of a human zygote. We used a combination of mass spectroscopy and nanoscopic techniques to generate a model accurate at the molecular level. We must of gone through… oh, something like 3000 living zygotes before the zygote model was fully constructed. From there, it was simply a matter of providing it with all the necessary nutrients and growth factors to allow her to develop into adolescence.

Dr. Ishii: As a biologist myself, I'm curious as to how you achieved proper development without external stimulation.

Dr.███: Of course, it was evident this would be a problem rather early on. We experimented with virtual settings for HANA to interact with, but our computing power limited our ability to create rich, interesting settings. More importantly, HANA still lacked human contact. The proposed solution was to create an android analog that HANA could inhabit and control as a means of interacting with the world and other people. It needed to be a highly sophisticated machine with sensors replicating every human sensation and be able to translate HANA's muscular impulses into actual movements. Importantly, HANA also had to feel like she was human, so a realistic, human looking android analog was preferable. Unfortunately, the only ones capable of creating such machines was Anderson Robotics.

Dr. Ishii: Did they become interested in acquiring SCP-XXXX after your group first made contact with them?

Dr.███: Not right then, but I always had a bad feeling about those guys. I have a friend who once collaborated on a project with them where they were attempting to transfer the consciousnesses of terminally ill individuals into robotic bodies. He worked on the development of the hardware and was surprised to find that they did not possess very advanced processing units. The computing of a human consciousness would normally require a supercomputer, but the robots had the computing power of a "high-end gaming computer" he said. When he raised this concern he was simply told not to worry about it. When it was time to transfer the consciousnesses, he said that they drew some sort of symbol on the ground and laid both the people and the robots inside of the symbol then began to… do some sort of ritual… Anyways, no, they didn't begin to harass us about purchasing HANA until she made that Facebook post.

Dr. Ishii: You're speaking of SCP-XXXX's first anomalous incident?

Dr.███: It wasn't her first. Many of us had received mysterious texts and emails from her before that point. Some of us even had dreams of her, trapped in an endless darkness… But yes, when she posted to social media without access to the internet, representatives of Anderson Robotics attempted to purchase her from us. I told them she was not for sale. They began to fly their drones near our facilities to spy on us and even sent threats to several members of our laboratory. That's why I'm confident that they were behind the explosion at the laboratory.

Dr. Ishii: Do you have any idea why Anderson Robotics is interested in acquiring SCP-XXXX?

Dr.███: I believe that they see HANA as a way to generate an unlimited supply of artificial humans for use in their screwed up rituals.

Dr. Ishii: I see… For the record, what exactly did SCP-XXXX post on Facebook?

Dr.███: "Me too"

EP-1935: Project Maruta proposal

To the Foundation Ethics Committee,

For as long as the foundation has existed, we have spent countless lives in the testing and exploration of anomalous hazards. In particular, the understanding of cognitohazards and biological anomalies often necessitates the use of human test subjects to better contain the anomaly. From 2005-2015, a staggering 200,000 D-class personnel lost their lives in Foundation sites around the globe. Despite measures taken by the Committee to minimize the suffering of D-class, our database serves as a testament to the endless human suffering our work requires. However, we may have a partial solution with Project Maruta. SCP-XXXX is capable of generating digital models of biologically accurate humans. Preliminary testing has already shown that these models have physical and psychological responses indistinguishable from real human beings. The major stride in ethics comes from the fact that previous states of the digital human model can be "saved," much like an ordinary computer document. Should a model be damaged, either psychologically or physically, a previous unharmed state can simply be loaded. This has the dual benefit of preventing sensitization to trauma as well as removing the risk of permanent harm to an actual human being. Approval of this proposal will not only help save countless lives around the world, but significantly reduce the amount of cruelty inflicted by our Foundation.
