Item #: SCP-4537

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Only Foundation staff researchers with a level 2 clearance or above are permitted to access SCP-4537's containment cell for the purposes of interviewing, feeding, and examination of the entity. Regulatory cleaning of entity's cell and testing will be conducted by selected D-Class by the SCP-4537 research head.

Entity is to be kept in a darkened Class B armored livestock containment cell, having no form of lighting other than emergency containment light fixtures embedded in the ceiling of the containment cell. Containment cell measures 20 by 20 by 10 meters, with the entrance doors composed of 76 millimeter thick lead doors measuring 3.6 by 2 meters at the north wall of the containment unit. All walls and floors of the cell are to have an additional 76 millimeter plate reinforcing the standard concrete structure in order to prevent radiation contamination. In addition, the entity's cell is to have a thin, 10 centimeter layer of soil covering the containment unit's floor in order to reduce wear on the entity's joints.

The outside corridor surrounding SCP-4537's containment cell is to be illuminated with Halogen style light fixtures which are to remain active at all times, switching to a backup generator system in the event of foundation site power loss. For monitoring purposes, SCP-4537's containment cell is to have two thermal imaging cameras enclosed in lead lined glass containers on opposing sides of the cell's walls. For standard feeding purposes, SCP-4537 is to be fed 20 kilograms of harvested hay daily though exceptions to this diet are permitted, such as the vegetables celery and pitted dates, for compliant behavior.

If SCP-4537 is to be transferred from its containment cell, staff must equip the entity with standard horse lead blinders that completely cover the eyes of the entity, and have its head restricted in a downwards direction via the harness. SCP-4537 has been known to struggle when removed from containment, and will 'flip' its tail to express discontent. Staff are to be positioned at least 2.5 meters away from the tail of SCP-4537 if following behind the entity, and .5 meters away when escorting the entity on the sides. Due to its anomalous nature, all staff are to avoid direct eye contact with SCP-4537.

Any and all staff who report making eye contact with the entity for any amount of time are to report to site medical staff immediately and be transferred to debriefing interviews and documented accounts of the event. Should staff be found to have an instance of SCP-4537-A, they are to be administered appropriate medication and placed in observation for the duration of their infection. If subject's symptoms escalate past stage 2 of the infection, they are to be labeled as SCP-4537-1, and placed in quarantine.

Description: SCP-4537 resembles a large, tall, malnourished horse of the Murgese breed Equus Ferus Caballus. All portions of the entity's body are proportional to an average Murgese horse, the only exceptions being the entity's legs and eyes, which are extremely elongated and enlarged, increasing the height of the entity to 2.6 meters, and the eyes size to 5.3 centimeters larger than the average respectively. SCP-4537 appears to be devoid of a visible mouth or jaw, but is capable of consumption of materials [See addendum B].The entity has an extended mane, growing to 7 centimeters on average and composed of a light silver like pigment, that will lay over one side of the entity's forehead. While SCP-4537's mane will normally drape over the right side its forehead, it has been observed on occasions of high activity to drape on the left side as well.

SCP-4537 is covered with with a 1 centimeter thick coat of dark black coloration covering its entire body, with one portion over the chest retaining the silver like color of the mane and tail. SCP-4537's eyes differ from the standard coloration of eyes, having a yellow iris which transitions into a red coloration around the pupil, with soft light emanating from the scleroses of the eyes. The hair on the tail of the entity grows to a length of 1.8 meters before terminating, and is capable of moving at rapid speeds, with up to ███k/h recorded.

SCP-4537 is capable of limited speech, it's voice having an English aspect to it and carrying a deep after tone. SCP-4537 has been known to 'mumble' while in its containment cell, though all attempts to decipher the words spoken by SCP-4537 have failed, and when interviews are attempted with the entity, SCP-4537 will remain silent for the duration of the interview attempt. It's believed by staff that SCP-4537 is capable of understanding English, as the entity can follow orders with extreme precision, however for an as of yet undetermined cause the entity refuses to speak audibly. Though SCP-4537 appears to lack a mouth, x-rays have proven that a lower jaw and vocal chords are present in the entity's anatomy, though the jaw does not appear to open or move whenever SCP-4537 'mumbles'.

SCP-4537's anomalous properties manifest whenever any conscious human looks into the eyes of the entity. When direct eye contact is made with the entity, SCP-4537 will release thin lines off a previously undiscovered form of Gamma Radiation from its retinas, which can extend up to 48.5 meters. While the radiation produced by SCP-4537 does not affect humans unless direct eye contact is made, the radiation does contaminate the objects around the entity, which can lead to degradation of organic matter around the entity, as well as the molecular destruction of objects over time. This effect is counteracted by the utilization of lead, which effectively traps and repels the radiation produced by SCP-4537.

When a human makes eye contact with SCP-4537 they will immediately begin to intake the radiation produced by the entity directly through their retinas. While short exposure times are not directly harmful, exposure for 3 minutes or more will lead to lasting neurological and psychological damage to the subject. Despite extensive damage to brain matter during long exposures, subjects exposed to SCP-4537's effect will not expire due to the radiation, and effects will seemingly disappear in a period of 4-6 weeks after exposure. While SCP-4537's affects manifest in all subjects, elder subjects above the age of 55 are effected the most, sustaining increased amounts of neurological damage compared to younger subjects.
