Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures SCP-XXXX is to be kept in an iron reinforced cell as to not destroy nearby testing apparatus or melt the containment chamber during testing. The object is to be removed from the cell after every test while the containment chamber is cleaned by Class D personnel as to not risk SCP-XXXX entering a powered state either by accident or on purpose.

When attempting to test on SCP-XXXX, personnel must have permission from one or more Level Three (3) personnel and must be either in an adjacent room viewing the testing of the object, or be wearing a freeze sealed suit designed to withstand temperatures of up to 1500 degrees.

Description SCP-XXXX is a seemingly ordinary lava lamp roughly 47cm in height and 24cm in diameter. It has red liquid wax on the inside while in an unpowered state.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous capabilities are only reveal when the object is plugged into a wall socket or portable charger, and the power switch is turned on. This converts the object into a powered state causing the red wax in the interior of SCP-XXXX to slowly convert into molten magma of roughly 1120 degrees within 5 to 10 minutes. Remarkably, the lamp itself does not withstand any damage from the magma on the inside or outside. After the wax within the lamp is completely converted to lava, the object proceeds to create an opening at the top which the lava starts to spill out of.

When SCP-XXXX is spilling over with lava, the amount of lava stays roughly the same, so it is unknown how much magma the object can produce, but theoretically, if the object doesn't revert back to an unpowered state, it would produce lava indefinitely.

The lava itself doesn't disappear after SCP-XXXX reaches an unpowered state, allowing foundation personnel to find the composition of said molten material, ranging from aluminum to copper. For a short list of materials found most commonly view Addendum XXXX-3. Causing the foundation to conclude that the object should be kept in containment to allow the foundation to access the seemingly endless material produced by SCP-XXXX.

Addendum XXXX-1: SCP-XXXX was discovered when a housefire was reported in ████████, Canada on ██/██/20██, and emergency response agents reported seeing lava from the outside of the house. Personnel were dispatched attempting to obtain a possible anomaly before any serious damage was dealt. SCP-XXXX was recovered from the building, the fire was put out, and all non-foundation personnel involved were told that the fire was caused by the oven spontaneously combusted and any who weren't convinced were given Class B amnestic. SCP-XXXX was taken to Site-██ for testing.

Addendum XXXX-2: On ██/██/2019, the first test on the magma produced by SCP-XXXX took place, and it was this test that granted it SCP status. When analysed, the magma seemed to contain elements that lava found in volcanos didn't seem to possess, such as aluminum and copper. The production of these materials along with the already anomalous nature of the object granted the object SCP status and was given the designation of SCP-XXXX.

Addendum XXXX-3: A list of a small amount of the materials commonly found in the magma produced by SCP-XXXX (Please note that a few of the materials found are anomalous themselves and are thus classified):

  • Aluminum
  • Copper
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Lead
  • Radium
  • Antimony
