This is already submitted to the writing guide thread. This is just a more fleshed out version of my idea.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures SCP-XXXX can be held and carried like any other rifle of similar design, but due to its anomalous nature when firing, is not to be loaded or fired except during testing and experimentation. SCP-XXXX is to be stored in Secure Weapons Locker 16D with upper and lower receivers separated. Access to SCP-XXXX is limited strictly to the research team currently assigned to it.
Description SCP-XXXX appears to be a normal semi-automatic, AR-style carbine chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. The rifle is marked as a ████ M5 carbine, having been manufactured by █████████████ of West Hartford, Connecticut with a serial number of ██████████. SCP-XXXX loads, functions and fires like any other rifle of this type, with the exception of a random bullet firing backward out of the rifle, as if passing through the buffer tube and into the shoulder of the shooter, rather than traveling down the barrel and out the muzzle. When this occurs, no damage to the rifle can be found, either through visual inspection or X-ray.
Testing is ongoing, but there appears to be no pattern to the anomalous behavior. The vast majority of cartridges fired from SCP-XXXX fire normally. Due to the complete unpredictability, researchers have been unable to spot any indication the anomaly will occur upon the next firing of the rifle. Over ██ types and brands of ammunition have been used, with no changes reported. Any number or combinations of component parts can be interchanged with the component parts of any similar rifle, resulting in cessation of anomalous behavior until all parts are assembled together again.
Parts interchanged so far include:
Upper receiver
Lower receiver
Magazine
Trigger group
A singular gas ring, chosen at random
Buffer spring
Firing pin retention pin
Complete bolt carrier group
SCP-XXXX was discovered upon delivery to Site-81 on ██/██/2020 at the request of Foundation personnel for firearm manufacturers to submit samples for consideration of a new issue carbine for the Mobile Task Forces at this site.
