SCP-3578 out of containment for documentation

Item #: SCP-3578

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3578 is to be contained within a 2x2x2m incinerator with reinforced components and externally reinforced walls. The incinerator, including access door, should be air-tight. During the months in which SCP-3578-C instances are not present, the incinerator burn-cycle should be set to once per 12 hours. During periods of active SCP-3578-C dispersal, the incinerator's burn-cycle should be increased to once per 3 hours. Approximately once per week, a pair of foundation personnel trained in containment procedures should activate the incinerator before entering the containment cell and checking the integrity of the air-tight seal. Any dents or flaws in the cell should be repaired as soon as possible by on-site maintenance.
During any repairs or changes, a temporary containment unit with the same standards should be provided. In the event of an overgrowth of SCP-3578-B, personnel should use hand-held flame dispersal devices to remove all instances of SCP-3578-B. If SCP-3578-C instances are found to present in the containment apparatus, personnel should activate a manual burn-cycle of the incinerator.

Description: SCP-3578-A consists of rough cylinder measuring approximately 14cm long, and 3cm wide consisting of what appears to be an unknown solid rock. Any and all attempts to destroy or damage SCP-3578-A have failed. At a currently inconsistent rate, increasingly large branches and roots will begin to form, which are designated SCP-3578-B. Although SCP-3578-B instances tend to grow as large as possible to fit the containment apparatus, there is record of them expanding irregularly into small gaps in the incinerator, resulting in breaches of containment. SCP-3578-B is extremely durable, with the only currently known termination method being extremely high temperatures.
During late September to early October, apples appearing to be of the widely known "Red Delicious" variety begin to ripen from SCP-3578-B. These apples are designated SCP-3578-C. SCP-3578-C, once detached from SCP-3578-B, have an incubation period of approximately 6 hours before large bursts of SCP-3578-B erupt from the instances of SCP-3578-C.
SCP-3578 was found in ██████, AL, located in a ranch-style house that was completely overgrown with SCP-3578-B. A neighbor had contacted town services in relation to the situation, and Senior Agents ██████ and ███████ stumbled upon the incident while investigating an unrelated case. Several Foundation Agents were deployed to address the incident, and SCP-3578 was taken into Foundation control. Affected citizens were given Class-C amnestics.

Test A - ████████

Subject: D-6788
Procedure: An instance of SCP-3578-C, immediately after detachment, was placed into a standard testing chamber. D-6788 was released into the testing chamber and instructed to consume the instance of SCP-3578-C.
Results: SCP-3578-C, once consumed by D-6788, bursted four and a half (4.5) hours later. D-6788 immediately died after consumption. Foundation agents utilized standard hand-held incendiary decontamination devices to clear the containment chamber.
Analysis: The incubation peroid of SCP-3578-C decreased in reaction to its consumption, the reason for this is unknown at the time of the writing of this document.
