Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5795 is to be kept in a 1 meter by 1 meter by 3 meter room filled with tropical bird-safe plants and a constant 22-degree celsius temperature. No trees should be placed into this habitat due to SCP-5795’s nature. Observation windows should be provided for observation. A day-night cycle of lighting must be installed at a 16-hour darkness and 8-hour daylight interval. The floor of this habitat is to be made of utility rubber for easy cleaning. SCP-5795 must be removed from its habitat once a week for thirty minutes while floor cleaning takes place. Only bird safe cleaning products may be used.

Any operative that SCP-5795 is familiar with and must come in contact with SCP-5795 must wear a bomb suit. It is reasonably safe for operatives that SCP-5795 does not know are able to interact without the suit. SCP-5795’s beak must be painted with XXXX Brand red-color paint to prevent new instances of SCP-5795-1 being created. As soon as any chip or damage to the paint is detected, please follow Procedure 001-Ozzy. In addition, SCP-5795 must be interacted with for at least ten minutes ever “daylight” hour to prevent another 5795-I-1 incident.

Description: SCP-5795 is a senegal parrot (Poicephalus senegalus) of average size and weight. It is social and playful, not exibiting any unsual behaviors for its species. It is friendly to people it is familiar with, namely its caretakers Dr. XXXX and Dr. XXXX. It is able to understand basic commands, and can mimic human speech (namely “Ozzy” and “baby” and various chirps and whistles). It is nervous around new people and objects, thus experiments have been slow.

When SCP-5795’s beak makes kinetic contact (hitting upon) with any material, be organic or inorganic, that object will elicit a hollow metallic sound. The material that it hits with its beak will then instantly become hollow and metallic to match the sound.

These instances are known as SCP-5795-1. When instances of SCP-5795-1 are dropped from a height more than 3 meters, they explode on contact with the ground.

Addendum 5795-1: Experiment Log

Experiment 5795-e-1: Conducted on XX/XX/20XX

Hypothesis: Instances of SCP-5795-1 will cause a larger explosion if the size of the instance is larger

Procedure: Collected instances of SCP-5795-1, gathered by Dr. XXXX through standard interaction and care are dropped from a height of 3.5 meters using an aerial work platform (cherry picker) in an open field designated for explosives testing near site XXXX. Instances include: 5795-15 (a tennis ball), 5795-23 (a single peanut), 5795-45 (a tennis shoe), 5795-13 (a mechanical pencil), 5795-03 (a writing desk), and 5795-31 (a banana).

Results: Each item dropped exploded with an effective range of exactly ten meters. Suggestions were made for testing of a much larger or denser objects such a cinder blocks or boulders.

Experiment 5795-e-2: Conducted on XX/XX/20XX

Hypothesis: A covering of come kind will prevent the physical item from turning into a new instance of SCP-5795-1

Procedure: Dr. XXXX, as SCP-5795’s caretaker, will introduce selected objects (ping pong balls) to SCP-5795 several times during the week. Each ball will have some form of covering: paint, cellophane, clear plastic, resin-coated, and rubber-coated. When SCP-5795 becomes comfortable enough around these objects to hit them with its beak, encourage this behavior with treats. Then, if new instances of SCP-5795-1 are created, they will be dropped from the aerial work platform to test explosiveness.

Results: With each ping pong ball, a new instance of SCP-5795-1 was created, except the painted ball. It is important to note that this paint was red in color and of the brand XXXX Paints. It is unknown if the color of the paint or chemicals in it have blocked the creation of a new instance. Further study is required. Possible use for safer explosives.

Experiment 5795-e-2: Conducted on XX/XX/20XX
Staff: Dr. XXXX with Dr. XXXX and Dr. XXXX assisting.
Hypothesis: Painting SCP-5795’s beak will be a sufficient enough covering to prevent new instances of SCP-5795-1 being created.

Procedure: After a week of introducing SCP-5795 to the paint brush by stroking its beak with the brush, Dr. XXXX applied a small amount to SCP-5795’s beak. After it appeared that SCP-5795 would tolerate this, Dr. XXXX applied paint to the entire area of SCP-5795’s beak. SCP-5795 was then restrained to prevent movement or chipping of the paint for a period of one hour, when which the paint was deemed sufficiently dry. SCP-5795 was then returned to its habitat and left alone for a period of twenty minutes. Dr. XXXX then introduced ten plain ping pong balls, one at a time, to SCP-5795, to which SCP-5795 hit with its beak as it had been trained. Then, each ball was dropped from a height of 3.5 meters using the aerial work platform in the explosives testing field near site XXXX.

Results: Each ball was dropped from the platform, and none of them exploded upon contact with the ground. Containment procedures have been updated.

Addendum 5795-2: Procedure 001-Ozzy

Activate this procedure when SCP-5795’s paint begins to wear down to ensure safe handling. Dr. XXXX is the only operative permitted to carry out this procedure as of right now due to their status as daily caretaker and trust built with SCP-5795.

The procedure should carried out as follows:
1.Dr. XXXX shows SCP-5795 the paint brush and brushes its beak a few times to remind it of the procedure.
2.Dr. XXXX brushes a complete coat of XXXX Brand paint onto SCP-5795’s beak so that none is visible.
3.SCP-5795 is restrained in a soft and clean towel by Dr. XXXX for a period of no less than one hour. Dr. XXXX may need to coo and scratch SCP-5795’s head to keep it from wiggling or causing paint to rub off.
4.SCP-5795 is then released back into its habitat and left alone for at least 20 minutes for it to calm down before any more interaction can be carried out.

Addendum 5795-3: Incident 5795-I-1

At approximately 1430 hours on XX/XX/201X, after a recorded time of non-interaction - through entering SCP-5795’s habitat or watching it through the observation window - of five consecutive hours, SCP-5795 began to loudly chirp. Dr. XXXX noted this was its “alarm call,” and should be considered normal when seeking attention. However, when the alarm call continued and interaction with SCP-5795 was not fulfilled, a crack in the observation glass appeared. When SCP-5795 was further ignored, the crack in the observation glass grew in size after fifteen minutes of continuous alarm calling. After forty minutes, the crack spanned the length of the glass, and Dr. XXXX was able to shatter it completely with a few simple taps. Further experimenting must be carried out, but to prevent further incidences, SCP-5795 must be interacted with by either Dr. XXXX or Dr. XXXX for at least ten minutes every “daylight” hour.
