The Foundation has nasty habit of ceaselessly writing down every detail that happened in every facility on every day of every year. There where no doubt thousands of documents, photographs, interviews, videos and audio recordings. A single SCP could generate thousands of documents about it.

Now, this is quite useful for most SCP's. Knowing what has been done and what hasn't usually leads to vast wealths of knowledge. By reading all of the documents and understanding every last detail of an SCP, you not only would understand it more, but be a better more knowledgeable employee, and make your workspace safer. Perhaps, even catching a detail that others may have missed, and leading to a breakthrough in cotianment or understanding.

Then, there are other SCP's, whose vast documents pointless explain meaningless details and will contribute nothing to the reader other than wasting several hours of their life reading page after page of a book longer than war and peace and almost as dull.

SCP-317, was one of those SCPs.

This proved quite poor for Joseph Stevens, who was tasked to read all of the documents relating to SCP-317.

All 685 of them.

This now left Stevens with the Herculean task of retracing their steps. As Jenkins death was by no means conventional; having his internal organs erased by a reality bender, his untimely death meant that someone had to rerouted.

"That should really read neutralized," He thought. But Joseph didn't feel the need to change it. After all, it's read Safe since before he started working at the foundation, if it was dreadfully important, someone would have already done it.

Besides, the last thing he needed was to go up the bureaucratic ladder and ask to reclassify a Safe anomaly to Neutralized.

Boredom was already gnawing at him. He'd been a foundation paleontologist for 7 years and this was his repayment? Reading countless documents, each one more useless than the last.

It occurred to Joseph that he had no actual idea as too how many documents he would be needing to read. Under a wave of equal parts fear and hope, he input "317" Into the achieves.
