No personnel may be allowed to see, or walk within 10 meters of SCP-XXXX without express permission otherwise. During transport, all personnel must refrain from any form of speech. SCP-XXXX may held within a standard cell but must remain over 10 meters from accessible floorspace.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a dull grey stone, 0.25 meters in height, 25 kg in weight, with irregular shape. Its surface is covered in illegible writing resembling ancient Sumerian. Speech within 10 meters of the stone is repeated multiple times, creating a strong echoing effect.

Under specific circumstances, oaths spoken within range of the stone appear to be "binding". On recognition of an oath, the stone emits a dull ringing tone and drops in temperature to less than 20 degrees Celsius.

The exact requirements and nature of a binding oath are unknown, but experiments and testimonials show several consistent behaviors.

Prerequisites

  1. Oaths must be spoken clearly in a language understood by the speaker.
  2. Oaths must be sincere and spoken because of a direct desire of the speaker.
  3. Only one oath may be accepted at a given time.
