Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held within a 1x1 kilometre paddock at Sector 71 located 50 kilometres north of █████ National Park in Alaska. The paddock’s walls are to be minimum of 7 meters in height, constructed from reinforced concrete and to be topped by a 6000-volt electrical fence. A second electrified fence 2.50 meters in height is to border the primary paddock wall and is to be spaced a minimum distance of 50 meters away. Signs are to be placed around the outer most perimeter informing potential trespassers that this is a military training site and that the fences are electrified. Trespassers who manage to make it past the outermost fence are to be detained with deadly force if necessary and are to be given class A amnestics. NASA is currently cooperating with the foundation and has agreed to censor the site’s location from any publicly released satellite footage and surveillance.
SCP-XXXX is to be fed a live cow at least once a week, the cow is to be sedated as to avoid stress for the animal. On a fortnightly basis SCP-XXXX is to be lead into an adjacent pen where it is to be held while the paddock is cleaned, this process will involve the removal of faeces as well as remaining pieces of prey that have been discarded. In the event that SCP-XXXX attempts to break containment MTF Unit Omega 17 (Dino Killer) are to be despatched to the site where they are to sedate SCP-XXXX view tranquiliser rifle as soon as possible causing minimal physical damage to the subject. After SCP-XXXX is unconscious physical restraints are to be applied before subject is transported back into containment as to avoid any further possible containment breaches and subsequent loss of foundation personnel life. The health and general physical and mental wellbeing of the subject is to be constantly monitored by an onsite veterinarian and palaeontologist.
Description: SCP-XXXX resembles a large adult male theropod dinosaur verified through genomic and morphological testing to belong to the species Tyrannosaurus rex, a late cretaceous apex predator which once roamed across North America. SCP-XXXX measures exactly 11.83 meters in length, 3.46 meters tall at the shoulder and weighs 6750 kilograms. These measurements fall within the expected average range for an adult of the species and thus SCP-XXXX is considered to be in good health. SCP-XXXX bares many scars across its flanks and underbelly which appear to have been inflicted primarily by gunfire as well as other projectiles such as arrows and spears. X-rays of the subject show that located underneath the epidermis of SCP-XXXX are several small objects which upon further examination turned out to be lead musket balls as well as wooden spear tips and arrow heads composed of bone, wood and stone. These objects were removed upon discovery despite not appearing to cause the subject any physically distress. The objects were deduced to have belonged to Native American hunter gatherers as well as early European settlers. This evidences points to the fact that SCP-XXXX is several hundred years old at minimum, most likely older. This raises questions on the subject’s exact origin as it has additionally been noted that SCP-XXXX does not appear to age yet still seems to require nourishment.
SCP-XXXX was initially discovered on August 1992 by hikers ██████ ███████ and ██████ ████████ in Montana who were subsequently pursued by the subject as potential prey. Foundation field agents were notified that a “Living dinosaur” had been spotted roaming the Rocky Mountains and were subsequently dispatched to the area to retrieve and contain the anomaly. Fortunately, foundation operatives at local media stations were able to prevent any news coverage of the event and the two hikers were given class A amnestics. The origins of SCP-XXXX remain unknown as no other members of the species or other non-avian dinosaur species have been documented surviving past KT Mass Extinction however because of the subject’s apparent immortality as well as where it was discovered the leading hypothesis is that this single individual managed to survive the KT Mass Extinction event due to its anomalous properties and had been living in the Rocky Mountains feeding on indigenous fauna until it was discovered by humans. Whether other anomalous late surviving dinosaurs exist is of yet unknown and further study is required to deduce the cause of SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects.
