Special Containment Procedures:

Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation for the construction site of a skyscraper (SCP-XXXX-A), and the skyscraper itself (SCP-XXXX-B).¹ SCP-XXXX will passively prevent any forms of its continued construction. When anyone/thing attempts to work on SCP-XXXX's construction, they will inevitably fail, due to both anomalous and non-anomalous factors, completing little progress, or, as shown in some recorded cases, put construction progress back.

Discovery: Over the course of several months, multiple reports were made to authorities about "paranormal activity" and "acts of god" occurring at a construction site in Augusta, Georgia. These reports were initially disregarded and noted to be of little-to-no significance, as no anomalous activity was noted, and Hume levels were only at a slightly higher-than-average level.

However, after anomalous activity was recorded at and near SCP-XXXX-A, it was placed on Foundation watch for a potential anomalous capabilities. Undercover agents were sent to the site of SCP-XXXX-B, interviewing multiple members of the construction crew working there over the course of several days. Notable interviews can be found below.

Williams: Alright.

Bravo: To start this off, could you state your name and what you do here?

Williams: ‘Hello, m’ name’s Frederick Williams, I’m a simple construction worker here at Atlas. Our pet name for-

Bravo: So, first question: how’s work been around here?

Williams: So and so. It’s not easy work, y’hear?

Bravo: I get that. Um…next… has anything out of the ordinary happened here? Something that you would go and tell your friends about at the bar?

Williams: I wouldn’t say I’d tell my friends, but yeah, I’ve seen some things here.

Bravo: Would you mind telling us?

Williams: Yeah. So, this one time, I’s been walking down the side of the scaffolding, right? Right then, this giant metal pole coming slamming down- down right in front o’ my face. I coulda died right then and there. And I barely kept goin’ about ma day. I was spooked, y’hear? I swear, God musta caught wind o’ my affair ‘cause.. wait, that wasn’t on the camera, was i-

Bravo: Could you say that last part again, sir? I’m afraid we couldn’t catch that. Wind and all.

Williams: Oh. Oh, yes, I was just talking about, um, how my day was ruined. I almost died, um, y’hear? I almost decided to quit this construction gig right then an’ there. I ain’t losing my life for a damn job, y’hear me?

Bravo: I hear you, sir. Final question: Has anyone else ever quit or had any other “near-death experiences” like you?

Bravo: Could you say your name and occupation, or at least, what you do here, to the camera?

Powell: My name is Matt. Matt Powell. I work as a construction worker here.

Bravo: So, Mister Powell, how’s this construction job going for you?

Powell: I’m not doing great. You heard of the guy that died?

Bravo: Uh.. I don’t really catch up on the news. Who died? If you don’t mind me asking?

Powell: A coworker of mine. Johnson. Johnson Davis. Don't know if you've heard of him. You don't seem like you live in the area.

Bravo: Oh, Johnson? I think Fred and Katie² talked about him. If you could, can you say anything about him? What was he like?

Powell: I'd rather not talk about that. So I don't- [audible inhale] so I don't get sappy.

Bravo: Understandable.

Powell: We were buddies. Good buddies. Don't know what I'm gonna do without him.

Bravo: Oh, well, I'm sorry for your loss. You look like you're holding up pretty well, though. Are you okay?

Powell: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just get this interview over with.

Bravo: If you say so, sir. Next question: has anything out of the ordinary ever happened here?

Powell: Yep. Definitely. We’ve got the highest rate of quitters, too, at least according to Lanky.

Bravo: Could you elaborate on the exact “weird things” you’ve seen? Also, what do you mean with the highest quitting rate?

Powell: For your first question. Weird things. You know why people make dreamcatchers? So they don’t walking off the fucking building on their break nap. That was the first time the guy ever sleepwalked. In his 45 years of living. And he told us he’d stolen someone’s lunch. That’s it. And-and you know Williams? He-and I bet he didn’t tell you this- he cheated on his wife and the guy almost fuckin’ died. Either these are the results of karma, or some otherworldly figure, but hear this: nothing good is going to come out of us building this building. Something bigger’s going on, and I’m not going to be around to see it.

Bravo: And about the highest quitting rate?

Powell: Oh. Yes. About that. You’ll have to ask Lanky knows those kinds of things. Though I don’t doubt she won’t tell you.

Bravo: And why’s that?

Powell: Lanky’s the supervisor around here. Whatever big things happen at the site all happen because of her. I, and don’t tell her I said this, I don’t think she’s cut out for her job. The lady literally walks around complaining about how we have “THE BIGGEST” quitting rate in construction. I get that managing an entire construction site while the main manager is away can be stressful, but that doesn’t mean you can whine about it to your workers! And we’ve been losing more workers by the day! Rumors, people getting into accidents; we don’t have the safest work environment, and that’s leading to people straight-up not showing up to work. That puts more work on the ones left, and we were barely holding up before.

I’m a supervising manager here, and I basically oversee all that happens when the big man’s not around. I’ve had to do some more work lately, though, ‘cause he’s been mourning a loss. I assume you’ve heard of Johnson, right? I’ve seen you guys talking to people around here for a little while now.
