Item #: SCP-12619
Object class: Safe
Containment procedures: SCP-12619 is to be contained within a 4000ft x 4000ft perimeter of brick that is at least 10 feet high and lined with barbed wire. The wall itself must be guarded at all times by at least 5 armed D-class on each side who are prepared to ward away trespassers, record incidents that occur both inside and outside the wall, and defend against any potential unwanted visitors by any means necessary. It is important to note that civilians who attempt to enter the perimeter should be escorted away if possible, or otherwise terminated. A recent incident occurring around SCP-12619 resulted in the partial collapse west wall1— do not let this happen again! The wall must be inspected periodically for damages, with any signs of potential malfunctions being immediately reported to a superior to be properly dealt with. Experiments revolving around SCP-12619 are ongoing, but D-Class sent past the wall are advised to keep their distance until they have determined with absolute certainty that the area is clear of any unidentified SCPs. Most importantly, D-Class are to be conscious of the color of the clouds. If the clouds appear normal- white or grey- D-Class are encouraged to stay on their guard, but should be fine to continue, if the clouds appear purple, D-Class are required to equip their full-face respirators before continuing, and if the clouds are red, any SCP personnel in or around the site must immediately evacuate.
Description: SCP-12619 is an old wooden cabin with a small orchard of 6 apple trees- one of which has apparently been chopped down several years before the foundation’s discovery of the site. With the exception of the apple trees, the land around SCP-12619 is completely burnt flat and devoid of any plant life within a 2000ft radius, with samples of the land determining that nothing could ever possibly grown here due to the extremely inadequate condition of the soil, extreme heat, and complete lack of water. That aside, the anomalous properties of SCP-12619 have more to do with the trees than anything else- particularly the one that has been cut down. Radiating from the stump, SCP-12619 appears to emit a very powerful gas that is invisible to the naked eye, and seems to be irresistibly attractive to any other sentient SCP (and occasionally human beings) who happen to catch wind of it. The SCP will almost always feel compelled to head towards the source by any means necessary, and will disregard its usual behavior just to get there as fast as it possibly can. This has led to multiple instances of public SCP sightings where amnestics were forced to be used on mass to avoid panic. Once the SCP manages to reach SCP-12619, they will become immediately hostile towards anyone in the area who SCP-12619 does not see as trustworthy, but will return to its normal state after a little less than an hour of being inside the wall.
The color of the clouds above SCP-12619 are important to keep in mind. If they are observed to be a shade of purple, then SCP-12619 has recently sent out a signal of gas, meaning that an SCP may be on its way, but has a low chance of arriving anytime soon.2 If the clouds are observed to be of a normal color, then SCP-12619 is satisfied. It is possible that an SCP is nearby, but no longer under the control of SCP-12619, so if the coast is clear, then it is safe to explore the area- SCP-12619 does not feel threatened. Finally, if the clouds are red, SCP-12619 sees you as a threat, and if there are no other SCPs in the area that it can call upon, SCP-12619 will erupt into a tidal wave of fire within a 2000ft radius- immediately killing anything trapped inside, but leaving itself entirely undamaged.
The farm house that is seemingly being protected by SCP-12619 is still furnished on the inside, and looks to be very nicely maintained despite its apparent abandonment. A journal sits on a table inside the house, but SCP-12619 begins to feel threatened when it is approached. A few black and white portraits hang on the walls, one of which portrays an old man dressed in overalls and a flannel button-up who is assumed to be the previous owner of the land. SCP-12619 appreciates it when the portraits and shelves are dusted and its trees are watered, and on rare occasions, will produce apples for D-Class who do so regularly. The fruit is described to be better than anything the consumer has ever eaten, but does not contain any anomalous properties or unexpected consequences other than that. D-Class who visit SCP-12619 regularly tend to grow a strange attachment to the trees- one of which going as far as to call them her sisters. When treated with respect, SCP-12619 does not appear to be purposefully dangerous, but for unknown reasons, SCP-12619 can occasionally act extremely negatively towards unfamiliar faces, so it is best to explore the grounds with a D-Class that it is used to.
