Item #: SCP-5322
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5233 is to be kept in a Class 1 Anomalous Object Container. Access to SCP-5233 for recreation or testing can be approved by members with Level 2 Clearance or higher.
Description: SCP-5233 is a pair of glasses made of blue and red construction paper. Analysis shows that the paper itself is not anomalous.
When SCP-5233 is worn by a human subject, it will display its anomalous effects upon the wearer looking at a piece of paper with any kind of media on it. This includes photographs, drawings, and writing. Upon such media coming into view, subjects will cease all movement, becoming frozen in place. The media will then begin to change as the subject becomes able to interact with it, becoming a character within the media. The media within then begin to animate, with the subject becoming visible in photographs and paintings, and being named directly in textual media. This can be a simple as becoming a background character throughout the piece, or as complex as complete alteration to the piece by subject interference. Upon deciding that they are done experiencing the medium, they will be prompted by an unknown feminine voice, designated SCP-5233-1, informing them that in order to “return to the boring reality from which they came,” they need merely repeat the phrase “There’s no place like home” three times. SCP-5233-1 has refused all attempts at an interview, and it is currently unknown how SCP-5233-1 is aware of when subjects want to leave, or if SCP-5233-1 is capable of other actions. Testing with abstract painted works has been suspended, following severe mental damage incurred by Dr.████ after testing with “Le Baiser” by Picasso.

Test logs:
Formatted as such:
Media:
Subject:
Result:
Media: “The Scream”
Subject: Dr.Muller
Result: Piece became animate in the style of the original painting, with Dr.Muller walking into view, appearing greatly discomforted and covering his ears. Testing then abruptly ends with Dr.Muller rapidly removing the glasses. Dr.Muller reported a “deafening screech” coming from the title character and that he “would NOT shut up.”
Media: A photograph of a family vacation, taken by Dr.Muller.
Subject: Dr.Muller
Result: Photograph becomes animate, with Dr.Muller walking into view. Bothe Dr.Muller and his photograph duplicate, as well as the family present, display visible shock for a brief moment. Subjects then begin conversing, with both Muller’s displaying visible interest in the conversation. Testing was ended approximately two hours later, with Dr.Muller calmly removing the glasses.
Note: It’s interesting, the people in that photograph acted as if they were real. With memories of every moment prior to it being taken even. Recommend use on historical photographs for use in interviewing deceased historical figures and whatnot. - Dr.Muller
Consideration on Dr.Muller’s request is currently pending approval.
Media: A drawing of a dog, made by Dr.Franko
Subject: Dr.Muller
Result: Drawing becomes animate, with Dr.Muller walking into view from an edge of the page. Of note is that Dr.Muller is rendered in the same simple art style as the dog. Dr.Muller appears to pet the dog, before ending the test.
Note: It seems that not having a background on the image results in a white expanse being all that’s around when you enter media. Recommend only testing with images with backgrounds, even if they’re simple. It’s a bit disorienting. - Dr.Muller:
Media: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Subject: Dr.Muller
Result: Dr.Muller is introduced into the story shortly after Harry arrives at Hogwarts, as having “walked in from thin air.” Dialog begins diverging from its standard course as characters express shock at Dr.Muller’s arrival. Dr.Muller proceeds to explain that he is “an American wizard who apparated at the wrong school.” Testing quickly concludes when school staff attempt to apprehend Dr.Muller, followed by Dr.Muller repeating the phrase “There’s no place like home” and concluding testing. The remainder of the chapter after he left continues as normal, aside from a background plot of school staff being unable to find the unknown intruder.
Note: Interesting that it continues to change the story a bit after you leave it. - Dr.Muller
Media: “A book that tells you everything you want to know” by Dr.Muller
Subject: Dr.Muller
Result: [DATA EXPUNGED]
Note: Dr.Miller was terminated following this test for massive breach in protocol, as well as presenting knowledge he should not have about various Foundation secrets. -05 Council
Media: A Screenshot of the game “Half Life” taken during the first couple minutes of gameplay, printed onto a standard sized sheet of paper.
Subject: Dr.Franko
Result: Image becomes animate as if it is continued gameplay, however Dr.Franko is now visible attempting to communicate with Black Mesa staff. A security guard attempts to apprehend Dr.Franko, shortly after which Dr.Franko ends testing.
Note: It works with still frames from video games. I wonder what other mediums it could work on. -Dr.Franko
