Special Containment Procedures: Due to the immobile nature of SCP-XXXX, as well as its size, an on-site containment zone designated Site-XXXX has been developed within a ~3600 km² area within the northwestern United States.

Barriers are located around the outermost perimeter of this area, consisting of primarily chain-link fencing. Vehicular patrols disguised as Border patrol units, construction workers, or State Park Rangers are positioned to deter civilian persons or vehicles from entering the designated containment area. In the event of deterrence failure or civilian aggression, Class A amnestics are to be administered, and civilians are to be deposited within nearby cities.

Research personnel are to be staffed along the edges of SCP-XXXX for study , and mobilized scouting personnel are to report any structural or anomalous changes to SCP-XXXX to Temporary Site Director Dr. ██████. Drone-based scouting operations to within SCP-XXXX are to take place every 2 months to research and report on development of SCP-XXXX-A-1. Procedures for attempting contact with SCP-XXXX-A-2 awaiting approval.

Containment Protocols updated as of ██/██/2006, see below.

Updated Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX file restricted to Level 3 clearance. Assigned personnel either reassigned or promoted as needed. SCP XXXX Reassigned from Euclid to Keter class.

A 5-meter tall concrete barrier has been constructed around SCP-XXXX with security postings every 150 meters along the walls. On-site Applied Task Force Lambda-16 "Bug Zappers" units are to patrol the inner perimeter with motorized transport vehicles, and are to engage any instances of SCP-XXXX-A-2. Drones are to be sent into SCP-XXXX-A every 2 weeks to preform reconnaissance and give reports of any mobilization of SCP-XXXX-A-2 instances near the alternate location of SCP-XXXX.

In the event that groups of SCP-XXXX-A-2 exceeding 20 instances are seen emerging from SCP-XXXX, additional armed security and λ-16 personnel are to be sent inside the perimeter and attempt apprehension of all instances of SCP-XXXX-A-2. While capture and containment of instances is preferable, Lethal force is approved under extreme circumstances.

BY THE ORDER OF CURRENT SITE DIRECTOR DR. ENTOMO, ACCESS TO SCP-XXXX-A-2 INSTANCES IN CONTAINMENT OUTSIDE OF TESTING IS FORBIDDEN TO ANY PERSONNEL BELOW LEVEL 4 AUTHORIZATION

FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION, UP TO AND INCLUDING TERMINATION

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large crater, approximately 187 km² with inconclusive total depth measurements. At 28 meters below the edge of the crater, a pool of metallic, dark-blue fluid with similar physical properties to mercury fills the area. Results from fluid analysis show that its composition consists primarily of water, ammonia, petroleum, and [REDACTED]. Outside of its atypical composition, no further anomalous properties are present in this fluid.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest when any matter is submerged below 2 meters of the surface of SCP-XXXX. Any object that continues to dive beyond this point suddenly surfaces in a lake identical to that of SCP-XXXX, but in what is hypothesized to be either an extraterrestrial planet, or an extra-universal rendition of Earth, currently designated SCP-XXXX-A.

SCP-XXXX-A-1d

Instance of SCP-XXXX-A-1

SCP-XXXX-A appears geographically similar to Earth, with the entrance appearing in an area near identical to SCP-XXXX. However, there is significantly more foliage and wildlife present in SCP-XXXX-A, with many areas surrounding SCP-XXXX being thick forests, jungles, and swampland. Atmospheric testing indicate that the climate of SCP-XXXX-A is significantly more humid than around SCP-XXXX, along with a higher percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere and an overall 5° to 8° degrees warmer than the area around SCP-XXXX, comparable to that of the late Carboniferous to early Permian periods.

The fauna local to the area of SCP-XXXX consist primarily of large insects and arachnids, which closely mirror those found on Earth, that are collectively designated SCP-XXXX-A-1.

SCP-XXXX-A-1 Instances have an average size of approximately 2-4 meters, with some being reported at over ~15 meters in length. This increase of size compared to that of most arthropods on Earth can possibly be attributed to the high oxygen content, as arthropods from earlier points in Earth's history were, however most instances of SCP-XXXX-A-1 are much larger than these species, and as such it is believed something else may also be the cause.

Most instances tend to remain indifferent to the presence of Foundation personnel or equipment, either by leaving soon after their arrival, or ignoring them completely. Certain instances of SCP-XXXX-A-1 instances, particularly those similar to arachnid and other predatory insects are extremely hostile, and are to be avoided if possible.

Large city-like structures consisting of wooden buildings with architecture similar to that of 15th-16th century Asia, surrounded by smaller villages and farmland.
Despite the materials used in their construction, buildings in these cities can reach heights of over 50 stories, with the general format of the cities being very urbanized, much like that of modern day cities on Earth.

These cities and towns are populated by beings currently designated as SCP-XXXX-A-2

SCP-XXXX-A-2 are insectoid creatures approximately 2 to 3 meters in length, resembling the genus Idolomantis Diabolica, with comparatively thick carapaces1 , 4 thin appendages located at the lowest points of the thorax, and 2 large raptorial appendages located towards the head, with a serrated blade-like femur and tibia. A notable feature of SCP-XXXX-A-1 is, in place of the tarsus typically found on specimens of the genus Idolomantis, 2-3 small clawed "graspers" are present.

SCP-XXXX-A-2 instances are sexually dimorphic, with female instances being approximately 120% to 135% larger than male instances, having larger raptorial appendages and wings proportionally to males, and have more distinct and "vibrant" color schemes. Males tend to have previously mentioned"graspers" more commonly than females, and are significantly slimmer and shorter than females.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-A-2 are sapient, with technological progression similar to that of eastern 16th century cultures. SCP-XXXX-A-2 seem to have an advanced system of communication through written symbols2, as well as using their mandibles and wings to create a complex series of "clicking, hissing, and buzzing sounds", which is presumed to be a method of speech. These methods of communication have yet to be fully translated by the foundation

Extensive knowledge of SCP-XXXX-A-2's society is limited, due to direct contact proving difficult, due to extensive language and cultural barriers. Becoming impossible, as any and all contact with SCP-XXXX-A-2 after the events transcribed in Incident Log 03 have led to violent confrontations.
Long range drone expeditions having limited capability to study outside of long distance pictures and video footage. What the Foundation has collected shows that SCP-XXXX-A-2 society closely mirrors that of 15th-16th Century east Asian cultures,

SCP-XXXX-A-2b

SCP-XXXX-A-2 society is either mostly or entirely matriarchal, with female instances having a higher population, as well as holding higher positions in society then male instances, such as business owners and civil services. A significant portion of the female population also serve in an extensive array of military roles, alluding to the possibility that most SCP-XXXX-A-2 governments are controlled by their militaries directly.

Male instances are rarely seen outside of typical "low wage" positions, such as farmhands, construction, and industrial workers.3 It is believed that males may not be permitted into military service, as male instances have not been sighted in any military actions both against other SCP-XXXX-A-2 factions, nor against foundation personnel.

Although the foundation has yet to observe SCP-XXXX-A-2 mating rituals, it is belived that, much like standard terrestrial instances of Idolomantis, SCP-XXXX-A-2 instanced practice in sexual cannibalism, where female instances will eat the male after copulation. This theory does provide context to the lower population of male instances, as well as the female's higher positions in society over male instances.

Civilian instances of SCP-XXXX-A-2 typically do not wear clothing, or wear large overlapping sheets of brightly-colored cloth4 over the abdomen and thorax areas.
SCP-XXXX-A-2 "military" units vary in clothing. Most instances, including scouts, basic infantry units, and "commander" units, wear either nothing, or previously described clothing. Some instances, such as heavy infantry and mounted units5, have been shown to wear armor consisting of overlapping leather or metallic panels, protecting vital organs in the abdomen, thorax, and head regions, as well as lighter sections over the legs and arms.

Extreme range drones have shown other walled cities and small town with banners that differ from the ones closest to the entrance to SCP-XXXX . Further study shows that these cities function as autonomous states seperate from the ones closest to SCP-XXXX. These states are in near-constant military conflicts with other, neighboring states.6 Large conflict zones have been seen between these cities, involving several groups of SCP-XXXX-A-2, often numbering over ██████ instances, engaging in infantry and mounted cavalry combat with one another.

Large organized groupings of SCP-XXXX-A-2 are often seen outside of city centers training "soldiers" through coordinated weapons and armor testing, staged combat scenarios, assault courses, and military academies.

Addendum-XXXX-1: As of as of 12/██/2005, studies of SCP-XXXX-A-2 cities and military movements shows accelerated growth of military and consumer technologies, including steam and coal power plants, mass production factories, and recent testings of [REDACTED].
It is unknown that this sudden and drastic increase in technological progress is caused by the natural progression of their society, or if it has been influenced by the presence of outside forces.

Theories have been put forward involving the possibility that, during or after the events of Incident Log 02, instances of SCP-XXXX-A-2 managed to acquire Foundation technology and/or documents, and reverse engineer them for their own use. In response to these claims, stricter supervision over Foundation technical documents have been implemented, and security around Site-XXXX facilities have been increased.

Addendum-XXXX-2: As of ██/██/2006, after the incidents described in Incident Log 03, Hostile instances of SCP-XXXX-A-2 have attempted organised attacks ███ times against the Foundation personnel stationed at Site-XXXX. These invasions have increased both in frequency and size exponentially each time, raising the likelihood of a containment breach. As such, SCP-XXXX Object Class has been altered to Keter, and Special Containment Procedures have been updated accordingly.
