Object Class: Keter/Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked container with the following specifications at all times:

  • 4 meters by 4 meters by 4 meters in diameter
  • A roof made of Aluminium
  • 4 walls made of Aluminium
  • A floor made of Tungsten Carbide

The container is to be watched by 4 Security Officers at a time, along with CCTV footage being taken 24/7 to avoid missed interaction with the entity. If at any time the entity cannot be viewed, the aforementioned room is to be filled with a saline solution. When personnel must enter the container, no more than one Class D personnel may be allowed to enter, accompanied with a Security Officer, and a portable reality anchor is to be taken inside the container with them, in case of emergency.

Description: SCP-XXXX commonly referred to as "Big Box" is a large cuboid no more than 2.5 meters tall, and 2.5 meters wide. The origin of the specimen is as of yet unclear, but seems to be linked to the site it was found (SCP-XXXX-2). The following features are known about the specimen:

  • SCP-XXXX is Sentient, and will attempt to interact with other sentient and non-sentient items it comes within a 2 meter radius of.
  • SCP-XXXX is endothermic, and will absorb anything with a heat signature above 0 kelvin, but will not interact with anything above 4,000,000,000,255.3721 kelvin (see addendum-001-a: experiment X)
  • SCP-XXXX holds a strong connection with SCP-XXXX-2, the site in which the entity was found, and will attempt to have any item, sentient or non-sentient return it to SCP-XXXX-2
  • SCP-XXXX-2 is a large field of bahiagrass, with scorch marks near the center in a 2.5 meter2 radius.
  • SCP-XXXX-2 is considered NEUTRALIZED and poses no threat to the public. (see addendum-002-a: experiment a)

Big Box is not initially harmful to humans, but will attempt to interact when given the chance. The entity seemingly uses cognito-hazards to communicate, and it is unknown at this time whether the entity is purposefully harmful. The cognito-hazards consist of [DATA REDACTED]. and are observed through sight/sound hallucinations in subjects. When an item, whether it be organic or non-organic, comes within 2 meters of SCP-XXXX it is immediately pulled towards the entity with immense force, rivaling that of a black hole. So far, nothing that has entered the "event horizon" of the box has exited.

Addendum 001-a: Experimentation re: SCP-XXXX's interaction with objects.
Experiment A: Class D personnel ordered to approach SCP-XXXX as closely as possible on foot.
Result: Upon entering a 5 meter undetermined radius of the entity, the subject was exposed to a symbol, later determined to be a cognito-hazard. The subject then ceased to follow the order given by Researchers to discontinue the experiment, and ran towards SCP-XXXX and dissipated.

Experiment B: Class D personnel ordered to approach SCP-XXXX with a cognito-filer visor affixed to their head.
Result: Upon entering an undetermined radius of the entity, the entity attempted to expose the subject to the aforementioned cognito-hazard. This did not work for 5 minutes, and then the subject inexplicably took off the visor and ran towards the entity, then disappearing at a now determined 2 meter radius. This will be referred to as the event horizon from here-on out.

Experiment C: Class D personnel ordered to approach SCP-XXXX with a cognito-filter visor affixed to their head, and a portable reality anchor.
Result: Upon entering the so far undetermined radius of the entity, the subject then enabled the reality anchor as ordered by the Researcher. The subject was then ordered to approach the entity as closely as possible. The subject then reached the "event horizon" and disappeared.

Experiment D: SCP-XXXX exposed to an object cooled to absolute zero.
Result: Object was moved into the 2 meter radius of the entity, and did not change.

Experiment E: SCP-XXXX exposed to a particle accelerator beam.
Result: The entity was hit by the beam, and did not absorb the particles. The particles were the hottest ever achieved, reaching an astounding 4 trillion kelvin. The entity was also un-phased by the beam, or the heat.

Experiment F: SCP-XXXX exposed to saline solution.
Result: Rapid deterioration of the entity, "event horizon" seems to close, but unnecessary harm causes the entity to create an endothermic field and cease motion. Endothermic field attempted to be used as containment showed rapid growth. Only for emergency scenarios should this be used as containment

Addendum 002-a: Experimentation re: SCP-XXXX-2's interaction with objects.
Experiment A: Seven (7) Class D personnel ordered to interact with SCP-XXXX-2 in many ways
Result: Nothing out of the ordinary for a regular grass field occurred. Researchers spent 17 hours recording data, nothing of which came back with any significance. SCP-XXXX-2 is classified as NEUTRALIZED and can be left unattended.
