Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
SCP-XXXXa in it's inactive state.
Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXXa that are not linked to an instance of SCP-XXXXb will be contained in it's original box inside a light containment safe with double pad lock and will only be taken out for testing by researchers with level 32a clearance or above after aproval by the corresponding council. All instances of SCP-xxxxb will be keep in standard humanoid cages and will be provided with all basic needs plus any kind of musical equipment they demand, they may exit the facility if it's required for them to cooperate with SCP-xxxxA but only under heavy surveillance and under strictly controlled conditions. If an instance of scp-xxxxb decides not to cooperate he will be allowed to do so and he will be allowed the option of a quick euthanasia to avoid dealing with SCP-xxxxC. Under no circumstances are instances of scp-xxxxb be released from containment. No proper way to contain scp-xxxxc is known.
Description: SCP-XXXX consists of a group of physical objects:(SCP-XXXXa1-115) a group of people (SCP-XXXXb1-57) and a memetic property that's still under investigation (SCP-XXXXc). SCP-XXXXa 1 to 56 consists of a series of regular "clip-on" style guitar tuners that upon first inspection seem to have nothing unusual about it. It's anomalous properties start to manifest when the device is cliped on any kind of musical instrument and any part of the bare skin of a person comes into contact with said instrument. When that happens the instrument becomes permanently linked to SCPxxxx-a and the person becomes an instance of scpXXXX-b, in most cases there is no way to reverse this.
Upon turning the device on it will function like a regular tuner for about 5 second then start showing messages in it's display that it's clearly not programmed to. Usually it will start with some formal greeting and then insists that the player press the on button in a certain pattern to switch to voice mode. After this, the device will speak using a deep voice consistent with that of an adult male in its early 40s, it will explain that it has selected you as it's student make some small talk about how your day was and then quickly start acting like a normal teacher, issuing lessons excersises and recommendations. As a teacher scp-XXXX is very considerate and cordial of it's students, as long as he believes they are putting their best effort into it. It will be open to any style of music and any role regarding music composing, , but ultimately it itself will decide what is it that the student should study. SCP-XXXX demonstrates clear sapiency and an almost omniscient knowledge of it's students history, life aptitudes and desires, altough how "sincere" it is to it's students is still a matter of debate. SCPXXXX-a will slowly become more demanding as time goes by until it will not tolerate any activity that isn't aimed purely towards playing the instrument, it will only allow non music related activities if it considers them to be beneficial to the students learning, on one rare ocassion it did allow a student to take a 6 month break of the instrument to clear it's mind, but at the later stages it will usually be unreasonably strict, making his students perform such activities as 15 hours long practice sessions.
If at any point the student refuses to follow the commands of scp-xxxxa then at first it will try to very cordially reason with them, if it decides that the student is really not interested in continuing it will say goodbye to the student in a disapointed manner and go silent. After this happens SCP-XXXXc will start to manifest. The first night after breaking contact with scp-xxxxb the student will have a nightmare about being in an abandoned theater litered with dead bodies while being stalked by a mysterious dark figure, each day after that the nightmare will become increasingly more vivid and disturbing, 4-5 days after the first nightmare the student will usually fall into a deep psychotic state, usually 7-8 days after that he will die of a stroke, there are no recorded cases of people making it past 2 weeks after the nightmares starts. The only way to reverse this is to make the student go back to pick up the instrument and resume it's lessons, tough this is usually only possible during the first days of the nightmares, after that the student will be too incoherent to do so, but if he returns SCPxxxx-a will happily resume lessons and quickly forget about the incident. In some rare ocassions instances of scp-xxxxc will contain useful information that is needed by the student to return to its instrument.
SCP-XXXX-a will only communicate to it's student, if there's someone else in the room he will completely ignore it unless he interferes with the lesson in which case he will ask him to stop via his student, if he does not comply SCP-xxxxa has been observed to have the capability to inflict a series of negative health effect that go from mild to very severe, the action that infuriates it the most is when someone tries to remove the instrument from the student (see experiment logs).
It is possible to interview instances of SCP-xxxx by waiting for it to allow his student to take a break, periods in which it will be open to discussing any topic but it will generally not display a lot of useful information about its nature of it's intention, it's still a good idea to wait until the student delivers a good performance or achieves some milestone in his education as this will put scp-XXXXa in a "good mood".
