Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX together with instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be stored in a safe. Any of the objects are only to be removed with the manually written and signed permission of personnel with level 2 clearance or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a normal handheld optical instrument used to record images. These Polaroid brand Captiva were manufactured between 1993-1997. This device doesn't show any anomalies on the outside except for the picture counter which displays the number 42. A normal Polaroid Captiva was only capable of taking up to ten (10) pictures before one had to load new films into the camera. Upon the event of taking a picture, by pressing the shutter button, the counter appears to go up by one (1) instead of decreasing. Opposing to the amount of films left inside the camera, this device displays the number of pictures taken. Any way of removing the leftover films from the camera has yet to be discovered. When sliding the film door latch the door doesn't pop open like expected. There seems to be no way to check how many films are still in the camera, without destroyng it.
The photos ejected by SCP-XXXX appear to be printed on Polaroid 500 instant color films. These pictures will be reffered to as SCP-XXXX-1 as of now. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 themselves do not show any anomalies and are captions of the reality as perceived by the human eye. When a living organism (SCP-XXXX-2) has a picture taken using SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX reacts exceptionally paranoid in case of some other organism being shown the printed surface of SCP-XXXX-1. At first SCP-XXXX-2 will calmly look behind itself, as if it expects some entity to be watching them. When SCP-XXXX-1 is visible to another organism for approximately 5-10 seconds SCP-XXXX-2 will start spinning around, very confused because it feels watched. This paranoid behavior will increase as long as the printed surface of SCP-XXXX-1 is visible to any organism capable of perceiving electromagnetic waves in the range of 380nm-750nm. Previous effects continue untill SCP-XXXX-2 gives up on finding out what is stalking them, followed by the collapse of SCP-XXXX-2 after which it will start covering their face with their hands or limbs.
In the event of SCP-XXXX-2 allocating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 showing SCP-XXXX-2 themself, SCP-XXXX-2 will destroy the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 by tearing it into at least eight (8) separate pieces. Humans will explain this destructional behavior by saying they looked bad on that photo, even if their face doesn't appear on the photo.
Extensive testing has indicated that on SCP-XXXX-1 at least 4.52cm² of SCP-XXXX-2 has to be visible before any anomalies occur in the behavior of SCP-XXXX-2.
Whenever a colorblind person or an organism that isn't able to see a part of the previous mentioned range of electromagnetic waves is shown the printed surface of SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 will continue it's normal behavior.
Animals of the Felis Catus species show different behavior than other organisms. When having a picture taken (SCP-XXXX-2), said animal (SCP-XXXX-1) will petrify and gaze into the corner of the room as if it found an entity stalking them. As long as the printed surface of SCP-XXXX-1 is exposed to another organism, SCP-XXXX-2 will continue staring intensively to the (empty?) walls. When out in the open, this instance of SCP-XXXX-2 will not alter their behavior by visible exposure of SCP-XXXX-1.
Tests have shown that animals of the Felis Catus species do not produce chemicals inside their brains to cause an emotion of fear in opposite to all other organisms.
Addendum: Might add backstory and testing logs
