Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard anomalous objects container in an empty storeroom in its current site. Due to its anomalous properties, it's door is to be left unlocked and wide open. All testing on SCP-XXXX is to be done in the storeroom it is contained in.
SCP-XXXX is to be transferred to a different site every 6 monthsto give each facility time to recover from its affects, and no personnel is to be studying it for any period of time longer than 12 months.
Any personnel looking to perform testing must be approved by at least two level 3 personnel, and are to be given class C amnestics on a biweekly basis.
Edit: Testing with SCP-XXXX is to be done under the supervision of Dr. King of Site 127 and Dr. King only.
Edit: Testing on SCP-XXXX is suspended indefinitely.
Due to events summarized in Addendum XXXX-799, knowledge of SCP-XXXX is to be denied to Dr. King and/or anyone with relations to Dr. King.
Description: SCP-XXXX an average sized child's book bag, black and of no distinguishable brand. Upon primary exposure, the bag seems IS appears empty, but after prolonged exposure exceeding twenty to thirty seconds, any individual within it's vicinity express a . Those exposed to it will show signs of stress and anxiety, along with an aversion to the bag, not wishing to come in contact with it.
Pictures of the object evoke a similar, though toned down effect, simply causing great unease in whoever views them. Sketches and real-time footage of the object have no recorded effect.
SCP-XXXX's primary anomalous effect only occurs when a living subject comes within 7 meters of it. Any sentient being within this range of the object will express signs of distress and will refuse to travel closer than 3 meters to it. Humanoids and other sapient creatures in close contact with SCP-XXXX give vastly different accounts of what they believe to be inside of the bag, designated SCP-XXXX-a. (see test logs)
School-aged children, particularly those between the ages of 10-17, are most effected by SCP-XXXX, and will begin to panic when in it's presence, trying to escape from their perception of SCP-XXXX-a. Around 64% of these children injure themselves in the process.
The sole long term effects of the object is the witnesses' strong aversion to opening any sort of bag for the rest of their lifespans, though, with intensive therapy, they can to a degree cope with the trauma. SCP-XXXX does not appear to effect those who have no prior knowledge of the function of a book bag, or those who never had a formal education.
Nonhuman entities show no effects, unless they were ever in contact with a school (e.g, fish in a school aquarium, guide dogs belonging to school aged children). These creatures show similar signs as their humanoid counterparts. (See test logs)

Subject approached SCP-XXXX cautiously, and stopped movement after reaching 5 meter distance, then began vocalizing screams. Subject pounded on test room door repeatedly, fracturing multiple bones in the process. Subject's injuries do not seem to impede activity. Test terminated after subject was incapacitated. |
Let's not test the kids anymore, okay? I don't want to write up any more of these damn reports.
Dr. King
