Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed in a six by six by three meter containment cell and encased in a seven and a half centimetre thick steel tungsten container no more than ten centimetres in length, width, and height. Following incident XXXX-003, the tungsten container is to be placed between vibration-sensing panels for the purposes of monitoring SCP-XXXX's activity within its containment cell. There are to be at least two armed guards stationed outside of its containment chamber at all times. Researchers assigned to SCP-XXXX are to view the container housing SCP-XXXX through a monitor connected to the vibration-sensing pads around its tungsten container in addition to a remote video feed of its containment cell. Any erratic movement by SCP-XXXX should be reported to site administration immediately.
All testing of SCP-XXXX is currently prohibited without clearance from at least three members of the O5 Council and any unnecessary biological material is prohibited from coming within a fifteen meter radius of the entity. Individuals purposefully bringing SCP-XXXX any biological matter without administrative clearance strictly for testing purposes are to be interviewed for any connections to groups of interest and then terminated.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small processing unit bearing the inscription 'N-79184'. It is approximately half a centimetre thick, two centimetres in length and width with five centimetre long spider-like legs made of an unknown, strong, and highly flexible material. Identifying the materials that make up SCP-XXXX, as well as attempts to terminate it have proven unsuccessful as it has shown to be totally resistant to extreme temperatures and pressure, and even EMPs. The entity uses vibrations felt in its legs to map out its environment and detect potential victims from within a six meter radius, however it has been observed harvesting its victim's eyes and other sensory organs to broaden its senses.
Upon coming within six meters of any living macroscopic organism, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2, SCP-XXXX will attack and attempt to kill or subdue SCP-XXXX-2 in order to assimilate its bones, skin, organs, sinew, or muscular tissue into its mass hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, constructing its body out of whatever it can scavenge from its victims, then controlling SCP-x-1 with electricity emitted from its legs. Testing has shown that SCP-XXXX typically prefers building itself into a humanoid form and in its more advanced stages it tends to pick and choose which body parts it builds SCP-x-1 with, even upgrading or outright discarding preexisting ones already incorporated into SCP-XXXX-1 that it deems obsolete. It has been observed to mainly attack mammals, including but not limited to small rodents, large predators, and humans. In some extreme cases however, insects have been utilized by the anomaly. (see attached incident report). The method which SCP-XXXX uses to determine biological from non-biological matter is currently unknown and it is believed that it does not need to consume energy to sustain itself.
In the early stages of its construction, SCP-XXXX mainly focuses on overall structure and mobility, opting for speed and tensile strength. The object will then focus on weaponizing itself, typically in the form of sharp, long reaching melee weapons attached to the arms of SCP-XXXX-1 or protruding from other areas of the body. In one incident however, it did use matter extracted from various species of ████ to create a flamethrower, nearly breaching its containment. SCP-XXXX will always attempt to build itself into a sleek, stealthy predator, favoring evading and stalking rather than outright assaulting its prey. SCP-XXXX does not utilize weaponry composed of non-biological material. In rare instances, SCP-XXXX has been observed to utilize firearms taken from fallen Foundation personnel.
A key weakness in SCP-XXXX is the biological nature of SCP-XXXX-1. Given that the entity builds its body out of decaying organic material, individual components of SCP-X-1 begin to break down over a period seventy two hours after their extraction from SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1 needs constant a rotation of new “parts” to counter its constantly decaying state, often leading to pieces of SCP-XXXX-1 being replaced with inferior “parts” out of necessity. Depending on the environment SCP-XXXX finds itself in, this can lead to a degenerative evolution of SCP-XXXX-1, as it becomes less efficient over time due to a lack of robust or available prey.
While thought to be incapable of communication, SCP-XXXX has shown high technical and kinesthetic intelligence. It will often attempt to outsmart its containment procedures as well as the researchers assigned to it. Under no circumstances is SCP-XXXX to come into contact with any biological SCPs.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered on the Russo-Mongolian border in 1976 by Alexei Prokofiev, a Foundation Informant working within the Soviet GRU. Agent Prokofiev, now SCP-XXXX-2 managed to activate its Foundation issued distress beacon as SCP-XXXX used its claws it had built prior to contact with SCP-XXXX-2 to tear open SCP-XXXX-2's back and extract its spine.
Upon arrival, retrieval team MTF Omega Orange began surveying the area for SCP-XXXX and were then ambushed by the anomaly, which is estimated to have been at 1.32 times its previous mass after assimilating agent Profokiev based on later autopsies. SCP-XXXX shot up from the ground and pulled agent Banzragch into a deep, winding tunnel system it had been residing in. MTF agents Genrich and Baatar entered the tunnels armed with grenades, two sub-machine guns, and two flashlights. Neither of the agents were heard from for half an hour. After the remaining Omega Orange agents on the surface realzied several of their other task-force members had also silently gone missing, MTF Epsilon-6 ("Village Idiots") were called in to deal with the anomaly. Ground sonar was used to detect SCP-XXXX's presence in the tunnels, which were subsequently torched.
The scorched remains of SCP-XXXX were retrieved and transferred to Site-█ where the true nature of the anomaly was discovered during the autopsy of SCP-XXXX-1, at which time was assumed to be SCP-X, after it leaped at researcher Bernard F. Hudson from the chest cavity of SCP-XXXX-1 and then attempted to escape through a ventilation shaft. Foundation personnel managed to block the entity's passage and extract it from the vents using a portable electric saw. Upon capture, SCP-XXXX was discovered to have utilized the remains of two rats it had found in the vent, presumably either for greater mobility or as an attempt to evade detection.
