Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside a standard containment chamber at Site-██. Only under testing conditions are any objects to be placed inside of SCP-XXXX. No personnel are to place personal belongings inside of SCP-XXXX. For fear of gold market inflation, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be kept on-site at all times. Welding goggles are to be worn inside SCP-XXXX during testing in case of incident. See Incident Report SCP-XXXX-A
Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard aluminum storage trailer with a volume of 12 cubic meters, and external dimensions of 0.75m wide x 2m tall x 2m long. The exterior shows no anomalous behaviour, and has one faded logo on each side reading, “King Midas Storage.” On the trailer door the company motto reading, “Safe transport and storage is our gold standard,” is shown.
The interior of SCP-XXXX is slightly worn from years of use and shows no immediate anomalous behaviour. The anomalous nature of SCP-XXXX occurs once one or more objects are placed inside of SCP-XXXX and the door is closed. The objects closed inside will be entirely transformed into gold. Any object transformed through this process are hereby known as SCP-XXXX-1. This anomaly has shown to not affect living organisms that are closed inside, however the transformation process is incredibly damaging to the eyes of anyone observing the process from the interior (See Incident Report). Despite chemical composition being completely rearranged into that of gold, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will still function normally prior to the process of being placed inside of SCP-XXXX.
Investigation into the company behind SCP-XXXX, "King Midas Storage," has has shown no public results, investigation still ongoing. See Addendum SCP-XXXX-B
Incident Report SCP-XXXX-A
During testing, Researcher D█████ entered SCP-XXXX to place a bedside table inside to observe the effects. Before placing it, the door came loose and closed behind Researcher D█████. He later stated that, “There was just a huge flash of light and then it was total darkness, afterwards I could hear the door open and I could feel myself getting dragged out, it was still complete darkness.” As of now Researcher D█████ has been rendered completely blind due to the incident, he has since retired from his researcher position, and instead now works as a custodian at Site-██.
Test-XXXX-A
Subject: A █████ Brand Analog Alarm Clock
Procedure: Clock was placed on the floor of SCP-XXXX by D-48521
Results: The entire clock was made into solid gold, but ticking could still be heard and the hands were still moving. The numbers and lines that would have been painted onto the clock face are now impossible to see. The inside of the clock is completely solid gold, the moving parts and empty space in between gears became gold. D-48521 asked if he could keep the clock in his cell, request was denied.
Test-XXXX-B
Subject: An apple from the staff break room
Procedure: D-50227 placed the apple onto the floor of SCP-XXXX, after the process, D-50227 was asked to take a bite out of the apple.
Results: D-50227 said that the apple tasted, “just like any other apple.” Afterwards he took another bite and immediately spat it out saying, “You morons forgot to take the sticker off.” D-50227 then finished the entire apple for lunch. After collecting a stool sample from D-50227, it was analyzed and showed trace amounts of gold. It has been deemed that any food items transformed via SCP-XXXX are safe to eat.
Test-XXXX-C
Subject: The body of D-█████, one victim of SCP-███
Procedure: D-█████'s decaying corpse was placed into SCP-XXXX, and the door was closed.
Results: D-█████'s corpse was completely transformed into gold, however the flies and maggots infesting his body remained unchanged
Addendum SCP-XXXX-B A Reddit post in the community r/smallbusiness by the user u/███████████ on 3/18/2019 claiming that his father's "dying business" needed help. The user claimed that his father owned a personal storage business known as King Midas Storage. The reddit post has since been deleted. Attempts to contact u/███████████ or his father have been unsuccessful. Online searches shows that no trademark has been taken under the name of King Midas Storage.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was found on 28/██/20██ after the R███ family called authorities complaining that their camping equipment was replaced with perfect gold copies. Police arrived shortly after the call, a foundation agent heard the story and a retrieval team was sent to the █████ Bear Campgrounds in █████████, Illinois. The family was given Class-B Amnestics and regular camping equipment, and a standard camping trailer.
