Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4XXX is to be encased in a 10m x 15m standard human containment cell below ground in a unmarked location of the ██████ desert. The interior of the chamber is to be monitored by a wireless audio and video feed that is to be remotely monitered by Site-██ for any unusual activity. A secure perimeter is to be enforced at all times in a circle of 1km from the housing of SCP-4XXX. Two acrylic underground tunnels (Gate-4XXX-2 and Gate-4XXX-3) are located 5m under ground allowing transport between Site-██ and the center of the secure perimeter. Autonomous security checkpoints are located every 50m along the tunnels that require a weekly randomized pass code no security clearance to transverse while moving towards the containment area of the subject. Under no conditions will any personal or entities be allowed to use either gate to approach Site-██. In the case of a breach of a secure checkpoint, conventional explosives are to be detonated to destabilize the structure of the tunnel, preventing the movement of the offending personnel or SCP-4XXX-1. A D-class personal must be sent alone and unmanned through the other tunnel to recontain SCP-4XXX and stay in the housing of SCP-4XXX. No attempt to retrieve SCP-4XXX-2 shall be made.

All Site-██ personnel are to be screened daily for any psychological abnormalities. In addition, the following items are prohibited within 5 km of SCP-4XXX:

• Headgear or head apparel of any variety
• Metal piercings or ornaments
• Broadcasting antenna
• Radiation emitting devices or excessive amounts of radioactive materials
• Metal toed shoe
• Belt buckles
• Zippers on any apparel

Following Incident 4XXX-A, all personal must be administered a Class-B amnestic before entering the secure perimeter. In addition, all personal within 5 km of the location of Site-██ are prohibited to be in possession of any potentially lethal devices, including but not limited to firearms, explosives, or other SCPs.

Description: SCP-4XXX is a sentient collection of unknown energy that manifests in humans. SCP-4XXX has the unique property of transferring itself to another human, taking with it the consciousness and brain state of the previous and all past hosts. There is currently only one discovered instance of SCP-4XXX¹ and over ███ cases of SCP-4XXX transfers. Over 98% of transfers have been fatal, with the remaining losing all recollection of previous events. Current research suggests that SCP-4XXX can observe electromagnetic energy with wavelengths from 10_-█ to 10_-██ meters. As SCP-4XXX cannot transfer to subjects that it is not aware of, only humans within line of sight can be transferred to. Anyone with sufficiently amplified brainwaves can be transferred to. SCP-4XXX has been shown to be able to observe passive brainwaves from up to 75m away, but conductive materials have been shown to drastically increase this distance.

SCP-4XXX uses a complex method of transferring brainwaves between SCP-4XXX-1 and SCP-4XXX-2:

1. Sensory organs in SCP-4XXX-2 (the old host) shut down.
2. SCP-4XXX-1 (the new host) enters a state similar to a absence seizure.
3. SCP-4XXX is transferred between hosts, along with the brain state of SCP-4XXX-1.
4. A electroshock strikes the neurons in SCP-4XXX-1, reawakening it.²

While SCP-4XXX-1 is able to feel pain and die, SCP-4XXX remains and retains the ability to transfer to other humans. It is recommended to allow the host to die when possible, as this minimizes SCP-4XXX's unpredictability.

All personnel assigned to SCP-4XXX must show complete comprehension of the abilities and containment protocols and have watched Incident 4XXX-A.

Addendum #1:

Subjects: Agent Kowalski, Agent ██████

Foreword: During a cross-site transport of [SCP-113|a safe class SCP], Agent Kowalski created a hat out of the tin foil in an effort to amuse Agent ██████. The following events transpired as the transport vehicle passed within 4.3 km from Site-██.

Agent Kowalski: Nah, I'll stay up here with you and Charlie.

Agent ██████: Charlie?

Agent Kowalski: Yeah, the hat. I'm safe from everything when I got this on. Isn't that what Dr. ██████ said?

Agent ██████: You're an idiot.

Agent Kowalski: What do you mean? See, it works.
Agent Kowalski proceeds to put on the tin foil hat.
Agent Kowalski: [DATA REDACTED]
Agent Kowalski subsequently pulls out his firearm and shoots Agent ██████ in the chest. Footage shows Agent Kowalski (now SCP-4XXX-1) careening off of the transport road and losing traction in the sand.

Closing Statement: SCP-4XXX was recovered with minimal loss of █ personnel. Due to the new insight on how conductive materials affect SCP-4XXX, new containment procedures have been put in place.

Closing Statement: Due to the inefficient methods and high risk associated with communicating with SCP-4XXX-1, no further testing is to be done unless more significant data is found.
